R2-A6 Garlic Bacon Dip: Delicious Droid

The next time you have a party, bring out the bacon dip in the form of an R2 unit. You might call this one a gastromech droid. This creamy hors d’oeuvre is made with garlic, bacon and avocado, and looks delicious. It is the creation of Jenn Fujikawa.

In case you aren’t familiar with R2-A6, he is the astromech that was part of the Bravo Squadron in the Battle of Naboo. I’m a pretty big nerd, and I didn’t know that, so I learned something today… two things, in fact: this droid was in the battle of Naboo, and I want some dip.

Make this R2-A6 Garlic Bacon Dip during your next Star Wars party. You can find the recipe and directions at StarWars.com.

Showerloop DIY Shower Water Recycling System: Rinse & Repeat

Showerheads such as the Nebia save water by dispersing it over a wide area. The Showerloop on the other hand captures used water, cleans it and feeds it back to the showerhead. Inventors Jason Selvaran and Eduard Kobak says it can save you up to 33,000L of water and up to 1Mwh of electricity per person per year.

Showerloop pumps used shower water through a filtration system consisting of a screen filter, a microfiber filter, compressed sand, activated carbon and a UV lamp. Jason claims that the filtered water is so clean that it’s safe enough to drink. The filters should last between 1 to 2 years before they need to be replaced.

If you’re ready to get your hands dirty, check out Showerloop’s guide on Instructables to find out how you can set it up in your home. Jason and his colleagues plan to sell a DIY kit starting this February or March.

LEGO Teedo & Luggabeast Concept Set May Never Hit Jackpot

Rey and BB-8’s first meeting was made more memorable by an opportunistic Teedo scavenger and an adorable Luggabeast. LEGO Ideas member hongtzer honors the desert duo with this proposed playset.

Hongtzer says he tried to make the luggabeast as simple as possible so that kids could assemble it on their own.

Sadly, just like on Jakku, it looks like these two are destined to be bit players. As other LEGO Ideas members have said, hongtzer’s concept is a tad too late. LEGO already confirmed that it will release a Teedo minifig and a brick-built luggabeast as part of an upcoming set called Encounter on Jakku (75148). But let’s not be Teedos and give up easily. You can vote for hongtzer’s proposal on LEGO Ideas.
