The Scream case for your iPhone

Edvard Munch would have a fit if he ever saw his works getting diluted by an iPhone case. The Scream case adopts the persona of the famous painting done by the Norwegian artist, and is an expression of modern art. The agonized face that we see in the painting is the most iconic images of our times. It is perceived as a symbol of anxiety that a modern man goes through. Perhaps the recent events at Apple – Ive’s exit, tepid design of the iPhone 11 – can be seen in the same light; given our addiction to the brand.

“It is almost a tradition for Apple fan to make fun of new iPhone camera design since Apple introduce camera bump, and it hits peak today after Apple introduced iPhone 11’s triple cameras design, we think it will be both interesting and inspirational to share something that we created for iPhone X back then, to expressing how we can look at today’s smartphone design with eyes of art,” 2-LA DESIGN told Yanko Design.

The Scream is the popular name given to multiple versions of a composition by Norwegian Expressionist artist Edvard Munch between 1893 and 1910. The works show a figure with an agonized expression against a landscape with a tumultuous orange sky. Arthur Lubow has described The Scream as “an icon of modern art, a Mona Lisa for our time.

The slightly sculpted surface makes the case visually attractive also provides an anti-slippery grip in hand.

The wearable that gives Alexa the power of mobility

alexa_watch_1

So far Alexa’s been pretty immobile. She’s existed in homes, plugged into an outlet, living in a single space. Amazon’s Echo Auto hopes to bring Alexa into another personal space, the car… but ultimately, all of Amazon’s devices conquer spaces, rather than becoming personal devices.

The Alexa Watch imagines a scenario where Alexa is readily available to you. Designed as a wearable, the watch is your personal Alexa-machine, rather than an Echo device for your family. It sits on your wrist, allowing you to play/pause music, order a taxi, send and receive messages/mails, and order food to either your address or to your location.

The Alexa wearable embodies the general style of Amazon’s hardware, with a white-only or black-only design, and the use of blue lighting and logos wherever necessary. The wearable also comes with an Alexa-triggering button between the 1 and 2 o’clock positions, and a small microphone integrated into the watch-body below the screen that lets you seamlessly converse with your voice assistant!

The Less-is-More Mobile Phone

newnokia_1

I know I’m not the only one who feels like they can’t keep up with my smartphone’s fancy features! Remember the good ol’ days when your phone was just a phone?! From the lead designer of the Nokia 1200 comes another phone that looks back to basics… well, sorta.

This stripped-down, phone may look as minimalist as its candybar-style predecessors, but it actually looks to artificial intelligence to manage tasks. As you would with Google Home or Amazon’s Alexa, you can speak directly to the device for almost any interaction. Its compact screen is just big enough to display any required information. Now, if only it had that snake game!
