This office chair’s 5° side to side tilt is designed to support your posture and body’s natural movement!

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve leaned back in almost every chair I sit in. If I have the room, I’ll tilt back until I hit that sweet spot and let the chair teeter back and forth. Some of us have fidget spinners and some of us lean our chairs all the way back. Designed specifically for those of us who share that same tendency, Seoul-based design firm 250 Design built the 5° Chair, an office chair that can rotate 360°, lean back and forward, and tilt from side to side.

Primarily designed for workers who spend most of their days sitting down in the office or at home, the 5° Chair features cushioning that forms to your body and posture to ensure comfortable sitting throughout the day. The chair’s seat plate cozies up to and hugs your hips for support from the bottom, with added cushion for comfort. Similarly, the backrest plate forms to the shape of your back to bolster your posture and encourage an upright spine. The 5° Chair’s legs are reinforced in the core with angled wave springs that can tilt in any direction, while the chair’s spindle can lean from side to side, 5 degrees from its center point. The rotatability of the 5° Chair allows it to adjust to your body’s natural movement, offering support from every angle.

Designed for people who work in small spaces, the 5° Chair does not feature wheels, compensating for the lack of wheels with a swivel and spindle that can be rotated and tilted in every direction. Embedded wave springs provide the chair with stationary mobility that offers support for your body’s natural ways of readjusting and moving throughout the workday.

The 5° Chair rotates in every direction and tilts from side to side, 5 degrees from the spindle’s center.

Without wheels, the 5° Chair makes up for that lack with plenty of integrated movement.

Cushioned seat plates hug your hips to support your base when sitting.

The 5° Chair’s height can also be adjusted with a conventional lever.

The backrest’s plate hugs your upper back for spine support.

With a gentle slope, the 5° Chair’s seat plate meets your body’s natural way of sitting.

Embedded alternating wave springs allow the chair to be rotated and tilted in any direction, predicting your body’s movement.

“It is the same as a normal chair when you sit and use it normally, but if you twist your back or change your posture, it will tilt at various angles according to that direction.”

Textured, tight-knit cushions give the chair a refined, minimal look.

“Both sides of the seat plate are made in a shape that holds the hips so that the movement can receive power naturally, so you can stably tilt it with force.”

“This chair is mainly for users who use the chair in a small space, and it is a chair that can receive various body movements when sitting than the mobility of the chair.”

This modern minimal CD Player will make your CD collection the next big thing!

I think CDs are the new vinyl records just like playlists are the new mixtapes. While vinyl records will always be classic, the millennials will have a more nostalgic connection with CDs. I still have my collection and even though it wasn’t too far back in time, having walkmans or CD players in your laptops seems like something from a different lifetime. I don’t want to throw away my collection, it means a lot to me, so I am going to look for CD player like this conceptual CDend instead and tell future generations how you had to simply choose from 12 tracks.

CDend is a CD player that also serves as a modern bookend…or a CD end (make the connection?). Most of us have the habit of starting the day with our favorite morning playlist, well, this gives you just a little bit more – its the difference between brewing your cup of coffee with fresh beans vs pressing a button on a Keurig. The flat CD player is attached to a JBL tube-like speaker which can be charged with a UDB cord. The control buttons are on top of the CD slot and the CD slides in and out from the side opening. The form of the device is modern and minimal, it fits into any setting of your home and elevates the corner it is put in. It’s sleek and to be honest, it doesn’t look like a CD player at all which means it won’t stick out visually in your space.

We probably won’t throw out our CD collections because of the emotional value, but something like CDend could revive the CD culture and blow it up again! CDs bring back so many memories and a device like CDend will be our personal time capsule.

Two fans are better than one

The wall of impending summer heat as you depart from the pleasant climate of an air conditioned building is enough to put even the most determined of shoppers from venturing outside. However, with the accompaniment of a portable fan, the summer air is a little more tolerable! As its name would suggest, the Twin Fan brings twice the cooling capabilities as the regular hand-held cooling device; the incorporation of two micro-fans allows the device to carry a compact and easily-transportable form without causing the function of the device to be compromised.

Its rounded structure and carefully considered placement of the single button makes this device a joy to hold within the hands, as well as providing it with a soft and visually friendly aesthetic that provides a welcoming, yet strong, presence.

Ergonomic Design

With a width of 58mm and a thickness of 21mm, it fits comfortably in one hand. The button is located just where the thumb can comfortably rest, and the rounded bottom offers a stable grip.

Smooth & Strong Design

The design of the Twin Fan presents a strong, yet soft impression via the combination of the roundness and the edge. The handle and the overall look emphasize the roundness, giving softness, while the grill pattern highlights the edge, providing a strong look.

The cradle emphasizes the Twin Fan’s unique round design through its transparent material, and the applied wave patterns at the top surface provide a fun, classy look.

Below: Development Process

Through numerous simulation tests employing world’s best ANSYS aerodynamic program, as well as wing mock-up tests, the Twin Fan’s optimized wings were created. The small wings have maximized wind efficiency and minimized energy consumption.

The circulator wing design and the strong winds of 10W pass through the oblique circulator grill, creating winds with strong directionality.

Lengthening the depth of the side grill increases the wind power and creates winds with strong directionality. The curvy design provides a robust and strong look.

Maximum wind speed of 20.3km/h. The oblique whirlwind grill pattern and circulator wind collecting method create strong and full winds. You can feel the strong winds at a close distance, and softer winds at far distance. Using the ANSYS Discovery Program, the Twin Fan’s optimal values are simulated by aerodynamic calculation.

We found the Twin Fan’s optimal values through numerous wing sample tests, handle grip tests, and wing pattern tests.

We came up with the design after confirming the interior specs found via test results. After numerous revisions in the design, today’s Twin Fan was born.

Three mock-up tests are done for assembly, and the mold was made after reliability verification. The mold was created at a primary molding factory with high professionalism and reliability.

Through a total of 6 interior/exterior mold revisions and test injections, we gained reliability and heightened quality. The circuit was increased in its efficiency in heating, battery stability, and energy efficiency through 4 sample tests.

Below: One-fan/Two-fan Mode Change

When pressing the button for 3 seconds, the bottom fan will operate. In a one-fan mode, the usage time doubles compared to that of two-fan mode.

When canceling one-fan mode, you can press the button for 3 seconds. Two-fan mode allows for fuller winds.

A-RO-matic Lamp!

ro_lamp_1

Most designers create products that make you go wow. Something that showcases the designer’s talents, or skill-set. However, that’s completely different from the designs we actually end up buying. Liking a product, and resonating with a product are two different things. The RO Lamp falls into the latter category, because it blends into your home, doesn’t steal your interior’s thunder. The lamp also works as an aromatic diffuser, using the light’s heat-emanating properties to diffuse fragrant essential oils which are poured into a small depression on the top of the lamp.

What I like about the lamp is the fact that it’s simple, and does its job beautifully. It can go along with any sort of decor, and the fact that it employs wasted heat energy to fill your room with fragrance, just seems a beautiful add-on! 💡
