This “Beanbag With A Spine” Offers A More Comfortable, Classy Alternative to its Boring Predecessor

The beanbag is almost an icon of the bachelor household. It’s cheap, comfortable, and adapts to any scenario. However, this has also tarnished the beanbag’s reputation as a furniture that just can’t be taken seriously. It isn’t classy, given that you won’t find it in the classiest of households… however Elena Prokhorova’s reinterpretation of the humble beanbag makes it the perfect addition to any swank coffee table. The Brace Lounge Chair is like a beanbag with an exoskeleton. Designed to give the otherwise ‘limp’ bag some structure, the Brace comes with a metal armature that wraps around the bag’s base and back, with harness straps holding the beanbag in place. The result is a lounge chair that’s the best of all worlds. It’s comfortable and adapts to your body, just the way you want… but at the same time, it has a unique blob-like structure that gives it a distinct silhouette, making it a perfect addition to any living room.

Drawing inspiration from the effortless style of the urban dweller, the Brace armchair effortlessly combines form and function to create a truly captivating seating experience. The soft seat is attached to the metal frame with the help of a belt-like accessory. To operate the chair, the user simply sits down on the soft seat and pulls the belt around the back of the frame, securing it in place with a carabiner.

The soft part of the Brace is made of foam with fabric upholstery, marking a slight deviation from the styrofoam-ball-filled beanbag. The base is made of a metal tube colored with a powder coating, while the strap that tethers the Brace into place comes made from leather, with eyelets and hooks that attach to the metal frame. The choice of fabric makes all the difference with the Brace’s aesthetic, and one could easily alter its appearance by switching between leather or velvet, or canvas, or even by alternating/swapping colors to create unique color schemes.

The Brace Lounge Chair is a Gold Winner of the A’ Design Award for the year 2023.

This Beanbag Chair Is Designed to Be Filled with Stuffed Animals

Because who has room in their home for a beanbag chair AND a pile of stuffed animals, Creative QT designed the Stuff ‘n Sit stuffed animal storage beanbag chair. So it’s not really a beanbag chair, is it? It’s more a stuffed animal chair. Or, even more accurately, an empty piece of zippered fabric.

Available in three different models (27″ toddler, which holds about one laundry basket of stuffed animals, 33″ large which holds two, and 38″ extra-large which holds around three), prices range from $24 – $35 (affiliate link) depending on size and exterior pattern. The company also encourages you think outside the bag and not just fill the chair with stuffed animals, but also unused dress-up clothes, towels, blankets, and extra pillows. Cookies and candy? Probably not.

Granted it’s probably not the best idea to fill the chair up with action figures, but they’re all I could find. As a matter of fact, I’ve already got it about half-filled. I mean I’m really not sure why my roommate kept all these original Star Wars action figures in their packages anyway.

Nike’s new beanbag-inspired shoes make you feel like you’re running on air

Sit on a beanbag and two things immediately happen. A. The beanbag takes the shape of your body, turning into a blob that’s specifically shaped around your form, and B. You feel more comfortable than you would on a plastic chair, or a wooden chair. The feeling of sinking into the beanbag gives you a feeling comparable to biting into candy-floss… or more accurately, sitting on a cloud.

Now carry that feeling and add it to your shoe’s sole. Designed for bespoke comfort, and for unparalleled lightness while running, Nike’s Joyride Run Flyknit literally has a sole that’s filled with multiple tiny squishy spongy beads. Resembling a beanbag for your feet, the Joyride give your feet the same feeling a beanbag gives your body. A cushioned experience that takes the shape of your foot. Engineered to perfection, these beads have absolutely the perfect density, allowing you to run on any surface without feeling the stress on your heels, shins, or knees. Made from thermoplastic polyurethane or TPE, the beads are size-calibrated and placed exactly at crucial areas of the sole so as to expand in all directions when you land your feet on the floor, cushioning impact and letting you literally feel like you’re running on a bed of memory foam… or if you’re looking for a more poetic comparison… running on air.

Mario Boo Ghost Bean Bag Chair: Boo Bean

If you are a fan of all things Super Mario, I just found the perfect seat from which to play your favorites games. This is the officially licensed Super Mario Bros Boo beanbag chair and it’s just the right throne for Super Mario fans.

Sadly it doesn’t play dead until you look away, then come up behind you so you can sit down. That would have been cool. The technology is almost there. I’m sure of it. This comfy ghost chair will cost you around $140, and measures about 38″ wide x 28″ tall x 38″ deep. Wait. That’s not big at all. How small is that child?

I was hoping this was a boo that I could sink into and relax. Oh well. If you are a tiny person, you’ll find this ghost more comfortable I guess. Myself? I demand a giant Boo bean bag chair. And not because I have to go on a diet either. I just like big Boos and I can not lie.

Boo is one of Mario’s cutest enemies. He’s supposedly a bad guy, but really he just wants to snuggle. And he’s shy. That’s why he freezes if you’re looking at him. This ghost is totally misunderstood.

Death Star Beanbag: That’s No Chair!

I once bought my son a bean bag chair. ONCE. He and his friends jumped off the top bunk bed onto it and it exploded. I knew something was wrong when I heard the massive boom on the upstairs floor. It was like the voices of millions of parents cried out in terror. It took FOREVER to get those damned electrostatically-charged foam beans off of everything. They cling to surfaces worse than the stickiest of boogers. So I have mixed feelings about this Death Star bean bag.

I know it won’t blow up Alderaan, but give a kid enough alone time with it, and a bunk bed and it will explode like that time Luke took aim on that exhaust port. It’s cool mind you, looking all squishy and cute and Death Star-y. Plus, its cover is machine washable so you can get all those Doritos fingerprints off of it.

The beanbag measures 31-inches in diameter, and can be yours for $149 from Pottery Barn Kids. If you already have an appropriately-sized beanbag, you can buy just the slip cover for $79. Don’t say I didn’t warn you when you are on all fours with a shop vac trying to get foam beans off the cat.

Ergonomic Bumrest!

I’m convinced that beanbags are secretly really hungry monsters. I sit on them and within ten minutes, I’ve sunken in as if it were trying to swallow me. Now while that can get annoying, the actual problem I face is a backache because of the bad posture I end up in. The PUFFi is a delightful little beanbag with an extra layer of padding that not only gives the bag much more character, but makes for better sitting. The layer of padding is removable, for the people who want to be swallowed whole by their furniture. The choice is yours!

Beanbag Hammock is Suspended Awesomeness

What do you get when you combine a beanbag with a hammock? Le Beanock is the answer. Hammocks are already comfortable enough as they are. But adding the cushy comforts of a beanbag? Sheer genius!

beanbag hammock 1

Le Beanock is essentially a suspended beanbag. It’s slightly thinner than your average beanbag, either because the filling is all spread out or because you won’t be able to sit or lie down on it all if it’s too bulky.

It’s the ultimate backyard set-up where you can get infinite cuddle times and have the most comfortable naps ever.

Prices for Le Beanock start at about $315(USD) and go up from there. They can be customized and can be shipped flat-packed so you can save on shipping.
