Stussy’s special edition Beats Studio Pro headphones boast a retro elemental design

If you are looking for a stylish and versatile pair of ANC headphones, then Apple-owned Beats Studio Pro could be your choice. The cans go neck and neck with the Sony WH-1000XM5, and just edge over in design and ergonomic comfort. Even though the Studio Pro dives in the same waters as the AirPods Max, they don’t impede on the prospective buyer base of Apple’s headphones.

Released in July 2023, the cans have a new design profile as Apple has collaborated with streetwear brand Stussy for a limited-edition version of the Studio Pro. The Apple-owned label has joined forces with other big names like Olive & June and Kim Kardashian in the past for special edition versions of their products, and this one is yet another example.

Designer: Beats by Dre and Stussy

The design of this special edition Studio Pro is inspired by the 1990s culture of owning electronics. The warm beige color and deep blue hues along with the inline logo get its design cues from the urethane skateboard wheels. The sublime finish is reminiscent of the resin and fiberglass material used in surfboard manufacturing. The cans come with the same hardware as that in the stock Studio Pro – the 40mm driving unit and the signature acoustic performance. This is complemented well by the adaptive Active Noise Cancellation, transparency mode, spatial audio (with dynamic head tracking) and a battery life of 40 hours.

The Stussy Beats Studio Pro headphones are going to be up for grabs from the Stussy online store, select Dover Street Market locations and select Stussy chapter stores from December 15. Priced exactly as the stock Studio Pro’s available already at $350, the special edition headphones will surely be out of stock before one can blink an eye.

Translucent Beats Studio Buds + are here to rival Nothing Ear (2) but not AirPods Pro

Beats Studio Buds debuted back in 2021 with a comfortable fit, good sound and everything else that left a lot to be desired. After staying in the rumor mill for quite some time now, Beats is officially out with a solid successor. Although they look quite like their big brother, Beats says that 95 percent of the internal components are new.

Working on the weak points of the Studio Buds, these refreshing earbuds come in a smoky transparent design. I can already see the obvious inspiration from the radical Nothing earbuds. As a complement, I absolutely love the translucent design of the Buds + as compared to the completely transparent Ear (2). There are Back and Ivory color options too of earbuds at the same price tag of $170.

Designer: Beats By Dre

There are small little increments in every aspect that make these earbuds worth the upgrade, apart from the luring transparent design that exposes the intricately crafted audio elements on both the buds and the case. The audio quality has improved with better drivers and the Dolby Atmos spatial audio works seamlessly for an immersive soundstage. For obvious reasons, the buds get a different microchip rather than the Apple silicon, compared to flagship Beats Fit Pro.

Active noise cancellation on Buds + is far better courtesy of the three times larger microphones that improve sensitivity, transparency mode and noise cancellation in noisy ambient environments. Battery life has also got a bump-up as the charging case gets 50 percent more juice at 18 hours of listening time in ANC mode and 27 hours in normal mode. The buds themselves have a 16 percent better battery rated for six hours of playback with ANC on and nine hours with it turned off. Fast charging is also a novelty here as five minutes of charging provides an hour of playback time.

Reworked venting system comprising three acoustic vents means a superior air release mechanism so that the wearer doesn’t feel uncomfortable during long hours of listening. This also helps in far better transducer movement for quality audio output as compared to the Studio Buds. IPX4 water resistance makes them well-suited for exercise or a brisk run in inclement weather conditions.

Beats Studio + buds come with four sets of soft eartips (XS, S, M & L) and a black USB-C cable. The latter in no way matches the translucent aesthetics of the whole package – Beats By Dre should have gone the extra step here to complete the look. That said, the Buds + are not a dupe for the flagship AiPods Pro, but for just $20 more than the Studio Buds they are a far better package one-on-one.

The Beats Tour Pro TWS earbuds revive the dormant audio brand, bringing studio-grade music to the forefront

It’s no secret that Apple bought Beats by Dre just to throttle it. The company wanted to rapidly scale its own music streaming service and launch its own wireless earphones, so it made sense to gut the iconic hardware and software company, effectively absorbing its tech and talent to create Apple Music and the AirPods. However, Beats by Dre didn’t just die out… it became an Apple afterthought. While AirPods got their own limelight spot at Apple’s keynotes, new Beats products came fewer and farther apart, and they were announced not with fanfare, but with press releases. The Beats Tour Pro, however, is one designer’s attempt at revitalizing the brand. Designed as a pair of high-end TWS earbuds to rival the AirPods Pro, the Beats Tour Pro come with a slicker design, snug-fitting silicone tips, active noise canceling, a transparency mode, and rapid connectivity with Apple’s desktop and mobile operating systems.

Designer: Junwoo Kim

Like most Beats products, the Tour Pro boasts a design that stands out as something eye-catchingly different. Unlike Apple products that have somewhat become homogenous in the way they look, the Beats Tour Pro play well with proportions. Sure, they stick to the basics with the massive Beats logo on the outer surface of the earbuds, but there’s also a hollow stem right below, making it easier to grip the earphones without accidentally hitting the capacitive touch surface. The stem also creates a more snug fit by tucking itself into the ear’s natural shape, allowing you to go about your day without worrying about them falling out.

The Beats Tour Pro earbuds sit in a rather nifty pebble-shaped case reminiscent of the Studio Buds. Unlike the Studio Buds and the AirPods, however, the Tour Pro’s case opens in a clamshell fashion, revealing the entire earbud within (somewhat like Samsung’s own Galaxy Buds). They do, however, sport USB-C charging just like the Studio Buds.

Designer Junwoo Kim also envisioned the Tour Pro earbuds to have ANC and a transparency mode, similar to the AirPods Pro and the Studio Buds. The conceptual pair of headphones are also designed to pair seamlessly and instantly with Mac and iOS devices, fitting well within Apple’s walled garden ecosystem.

Nothing has changed on the features and the specs because the change is mainly on the surface only. It comes with the same charging case and the same over-the-ear buds design so it’s ideal for busy athletes or outdoor enthusiasts. As with the regular Powerbeats Pro, this one is also sweat and water-resistant.

It’s a product under Apple so it also uses the Apple H1 chip. It’s the same chip used on the latest models of the AirPods. This means the pair can deliver powerful audio listening and independent earbud connection. Track and full volume controls on each earbud are possible so you customize the audio experience according to your preference.Special Limited Edition Apple NBA Powerbeats Pro Earbuds

The NBA Powerbeats Pro is made for movement. The secure-fit earhooks are adjustable but can stay in place. The design allows stability, as well as, lightweight comfort. You can choose the ear tip that fits you perfectly, allowing you to move with ease whenever and wherever.

Battery life is impressive as you can get up to nine hours of listening time. With the charging case, the battery can extend over 24 hours. If the battery gets really low, you can take advantage of the 5-minute Fast Fuel charging for extra 1.5 hours of playback.Special Limited Edition Apple NBA Powerbeats Pro Earbuds Red Blue

The in-ear earphones promise powerful and balanced sound with noise isolation and dynamic range. Note that the pair only offers noise isolation and not active noise cancellation. Connection speed is fast with Class 1 Bluetooth, as made possible by the Apple H1 chip. Expect fewer dropouts, increased speedy, and extended range. The pair can also work and share audio with other AirPods or Beats headphones with Audio Sharing. The pair is made by Apple but it’s also Android compatible.

Beats Flex review: The cost of $50 wireless earbuds

When the rumors began to swirl that Apple was going to stop including a set of wired earbuds in the box with the iPhone 12, we should’ve seen this coming. The day of Apple’s event, the company’s audio subsidiary Beats announced a set of cheap wireles...

Apple should have made Beats truly wireless earphones really long back…

Remember Beats by Dre? Apple acquired them in 2014 and it’s been radio silence ever since. Apple did however launch a few Beats products just to keep the buzz going, but nothing really matched up to the excitement around the AirPods. Now I’m not really sure whether Apple bought Beats to throttle their success (so the AirPods wouldn’t have any competition), or whether they bought Beats just because they saw it as a nice brand to own, but it’s safe to assume that the Beats brand isn’t once what it used to be. Lew from Unbox Therapy even has a theory that Apple’s slowly phasing the brand out completely.

In an alternate universe where Apple wasn’t so anti-competitive, these Beats miniPods would surely be a popular hit. Modeled to look sort of like the Google Pixel Buds, the Beats miniPods are the conceptual creation of 14-year old Nicola Morelli who found herself with extra time on her hands during the lockdown. The TWS earbuds come with the iconic Beats logo on them, and fit snugly into the ear using silicone tips. I assume the driver technology on the inside would match up to the Beats standards, and have some form of noise-canceling too, but that’s something we can only dream of at this point of time. The miniPods, however, do come with touch-sensitivity, allowing you to tap to answer and reject calls, control playback, and adjust the volume. Like all TWS earbuds, the miniPods have their own nifty charging-case too, and this one even boasts of a clear-top design that allows you to see the earbuds when they’re inside the case. Pretty nice, eh? If I was only half as talented when I was a 14-year old.

Beats’ redesigned Powerbeats earbuds have longer battery and hands-free Siri

The only thing left to do was officially announce it. Apple's Powerbeats 4 is far from a well-kept secret at this point. The tethered wireless earbuds popped up in an FCC filing in late February. Another leak last week offered full details and images...
