BlackBerry announces new BBM version
BlackBerry To Experiment With Ads In BBM
BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) received a big boost in its userbase since it became available on Android and iOS, and BlackBerry is looking to capitalize on that.
Making BBM available for all platforms has been a huge success for BlackBerry, who are now looking forward on how to capitalize this good will, which according to some reports, should happen in the form of ads.
These ads could either be sponsored invites or sponsored channels. The invites are meant to show up on the invite section of the app, and the sponsored channel would appear next to the updates. This methodology is reminiscent of the sponsored tweets work on Twitter, and shouldn’t be that big of a deal if all goes well, but it remains to be seen just how invasive it will be.

BlackBerry Messenger app arriving on Android and iOS this weekend
BlackBerry's effort to extend its messaging service beyond its own failed hardware has finally come to fruition. After some awkward false starts, plus a detailed leak, BlackBerry Messenger apps for iOS and Android will soon be available for download at the respective app stores, allowing members of those more popular ecosystems to do... well, chat-related things that they could largely do already, except now through BlackBerry's BBM servers. The company has confirmed that the Android BBM app will launch at 7AM ET on Saturday, while its iOS equivalent will be available beginning at 12:01AM local time (in each market) on Sunday.
