Top 10 kitchen appliances you need to prepare the ultimate breakfast to kickstart your day

Mornings are probably the most hectic part of our daily routine! You have to get up, dress up, make breakfast for yourself (or others if you don’t live in a single-person household), prep your meals for the day, and basically, ensure your day kickstarts on an efficient and smooth note. The most important meal of the day is breakfast, and honestly, it’s the meal I’m the laziest and least enthusiastic to prepare. I’ll just grab a cup of coffee from my fav barista…thank you very much! However, I am making more efforts to ensure I have a healthy and balanced breakfast every morning, and a set of handy kitchen appliances that perfectly meet my breakfast requirements make my mornings much easier! From a refreshing slide-out toaster to an eco-friendly coffee capsule machine– here are a collection of nifty kitchen gadgets that are sure to help you start off your morning in the most fun, hassle-free and efficient manner possible.

1. The Slide Toaster

The toasting process begins in the Slide toaster with an LED ring indicating the toasting level and completion. The slide-up tray has a translucent design element to it so that you can keep an eye on the toast turning perfectly brown to your delight Level of the toast crispness can be set with an adjustment dial like all other toasters we’ve seen countless times. This is ably aided by audio indications to keep the user well-informed.

Why is it noteworthy?

Harry Rigler wants to reinvent the trusted image of the toaster with a detour to the soft form design of this household kitchen appliance. That too keeps in mind the requirements of modern users, and the present as well as future design progression of kitchen interiors. Rather than being a pop-up toaster like most out there, this is the Slide toaster which rolls the toasting grill to the side like a rollable smartphone. The tray slides out – you put in the bread and slide it back in.

What we like

  • Audio indications to update the user on their toast
  • Unique slide-up tray

What we dislike

  • The radically changed design may not be easily accepted in households

2. CoffeeB

Swedish coffee brand CoffeeB has come up with a coffee machine that uses eco-friendly single-serve Coffee Balls. So basically it’s similar to the coffee pod machines except this one doesn’t have any plastic pods or capsules so you don’t contribute to the world’s plastic waste.

Why is it noteworthy?

The Coffee Balls can last up to three months at room temperature or if you store them in your ref. And after you use them, they can be turned into compost or natural fertilizer for your home plants and gardens. In case you don’t know how to use them post-coffee, the machine comes with instructions and guides on how to properly recycle them.

What we like

  • Made from partially-recycled materials
  • The coffee grounds used are certified organic and Fair Trade

What we dislike

  • No specifications were mentioned on whether the packaging could affect the flavor of the coffee

3. Byrne’s AI-generated Appliances

Catalan Architect Antoni Gaudi has been one of the most popular and decorated names when it comes to modernist works. What if he also designed much more mundane but still useful things? That is the idea behind this series of designs of regular household appliances based on Gaudi aesthetics using artificial intelligence image generator software.

Why is it noteworthy?

The different appliance designs have various flowing shapes and textured surfaces that bring to mind natural things like trees, caves, and other organic formations. But they have splashes of various colors to add to the opposite of minimalist aesthetics. The designs are combinations of various art styles like neo-gothic, art nouveau, and modernist, creating some interesting looking appliances like a toaster, a mixer, a vacuum cleaner, a microwave, a coffee machine, a kettle, an iron, a hair dryer, etc.

What we like

  • Make interesting conversation pieces
  • The designs are a twist on the otherwise typical and traditional kitchen appliances

What we dislike

  • They’re AI-generated, and not actual products yet

4. The Taurus Toaster 3.0

The Taurus Toaster 3.0 explores a novel format for the classic toaster, keeping it the same but also giving it a clever new trick. The upright device has the ability to open out into an L-shaped appliance that turns the vertical heating coils into horizontal ones.

Why is it noteworthy?

This effectively allows you to toast non-sliced bread too, giving you the benefit of making sandwiches or reheating pizza without busting out the oven or firing the stovetop.

What we like

  • Gives the traditional toaster a clever new trick

What we dislike

  • It’s still a concept!

5. The Origin Coffee Maker

Whenever I take my first sip of coffee in the morning, I am always thankful to whoever it was that first developed coffee and the farmers who harvested this particular blend I’m drinking. While some of the world’s best coffee is generally known to come from Brazil, Colombia, and Vietnam (my country, the Philippines, will hopefully someday be included in that list), one of the unsung heroes of the industry is Ethiopia where coffee beans have been thriving since the 7th century. This concept design for a coffee maker pays tribute to the East African country.

Why is it noteworthy?

The Origin coffee maker concept wants to bring “meaningful coffee” to your cup by reminding you of its origins. The shape of the coffee maker is inspired by the map of Ethiopia, although of course it’s not in the exact shape but is modeled after the basic outline. This way, the designer is able to “honor” the origin of coffee, although historians can’t really say that the locals who grew the beans cultivated or consumed these precious beans there.

What we like

  • There are just a few buttons you need to press including the on/off and open/close buttons
  • You have the option to make an espresso or an americano and there’s also a button or level for the water and the beans

What we dislike

  • The finishing is not smooth though as it intentionally makes it look like it has corrosions and scratches – which may not be liked by everyone

6. CucinaPro Building Brick Electric Waffle Maker

The CucinaPro Building Brick Electric Waffle Maker gives the humble breakfast food a new twist, turning the large square waffle into a series of stackable bricks! The waffle maker’s heat plate is designed to resemble a LEGO-ish mold, and the resulting waffles come with studs on the upper surface, and hollow areas on the lower surface to allow the waffle bricks to lock into each other. The patent-pending design lets you make 14 bricks of different sizes with each serving, allowing you to explore quite literally a new dimension when it comes to food. Stacked pancakes have nothing on these brick waffles!

Why is it noteworthy?

Each CucinaPro Building Brick Electric Waffle Maker also comes with 2 serving plates designed to provide the perfect stacking/eating experience. The plates are equipped with studs that make the perfect base structure for your build, while two small containers on the side let you store your accouterments, be it maple syrup, sliced fruits, or cubes of butter.

What we like

  • Gives the waffle an interesting makeover
  • Lets you make 14 bricks of different sizes with each serving

What we dislike

  • The redesign may not go well with those who love traditional-style waffles

7. Qaiser’s Futuristic Toaster

This futuristic toaster design is supposed to be inspired by rockets, but it also looks like a rocket launcher. Instead of an upright box, the toaster is set at an angle and held up by two legs, one on each side.

Why is it noteworthy?

What’s even more interesting is that the body of the toaster can actually tilt down, conveniently sliding your toast onto a plate. This solves most problems of having to pick up the bread when they’re done, which sometimes leads to accidents and burns.

What we like

  • Inspired by rockets

What we dislike

  • Takes up a bit more space than a conventional toaster

8. Goldie

Fabian turned to Jennifer Yoko Olson, an industrial designer, and fellow baking enthusiast. Together, they designed Goldie, an incubation chamber for your sourdough starter. Designed to hold virtually any container you’d normally culture your starter in, Goldie creates the perfect temperature and environment for your sourdough to grow, giving you an active yeast culture that results in the tastiest sourdough loaves.

Why is it noteworthy?

Designed to almost look like a glass bell jar for your sourdough starter, Goldie is a nifty electric temperature-controlled chamber that incubates your sourdough to its fullest potential. Much more compact than your oven (and requiring just a fraction of its energy), Goldie elegantly warms your starter, bringing it up to the “Goldilocks Zone” of 75-82ºF – not too hot, not too cold.

What we like

  • Helps you grow the perfect sourdough starter
  • An LED indicator on the platform lets you know if the incubation chamber is too cool or too hot

What we dislike

  • The Sourhouse glass jars are available as add-ons

9. The Morphy Richards Multi-Oven

Morphy Richards Multi Oven Concept by Souther ID

Move over the conventional ovens that we all have got so bored of, as the Morphy Richards multi-oven has arrived on the scene breaking the monotony of the same old cooking methods. The silver lining here is the unique design evolution of the similar-looking ovens while bringing an element of classic feel to one of the most important kitchen appliances on the planet. After all, the greatest chefs all these years won’t have been able to explore their creativity without the good old oven in their arsenal if I put it mildly.

Why is it noteworthy?

The designer gives his imagination wings with this Morphy Richards oven while mindfully keeping the practical aspect of daily use in mind. Be it baking a fresh batch of cookies, making crisp toast, or smoking meat – this desirable oven can do it all in unprecedented style. This Morphy Richards multi oven is good for any cooking regimen and fits into any kitchen countertop design – be it conventional or ultra-modern.

What we like

  • The nostalgic dials and slider buttons bring back the cherished memories of robust appliances of the golden era

What we dislike

  • Not suited for those who prefer modern + sleek appliances

10. The Platypus Coffee Machine

Platypus Streamline Style Coffee Machine Images

Platypus Streamline Style Coffee Machine

This coffee machine concept will probably remind you of Perry the Platypus. Perry who? He’s the fictional platypus from the animated series ‘Phineas and Ferb.’ The younger generation may be quick to identify the character but don’t fret if you don’t recognize him; perhaps after having a cup of coffee, you will remember.

Why is it noteworthy?

The Platypus Coffee Machine is yet another quirky-designed kitchen appliance that can make you start the day right. Our life cannot be perfect, but coffee can be, and the Platypus will do it right for you. The streamlined style of the coffee maker starts with solid lines that make it stand out from the other coffee machines available in the market.

What we like

  • The choice of sapphire (although it looks teal to me) as color makes it another fun device that can make your kitchen countertop or coffee area cheerful
  •  Easy to maintain with the catch pan to store used grounds

What we dislike

  • The quirky aesthetics may not be for everyone

Top 10 kitchen appliances designed to help you prepare the best breakfast

Mornings are probably the most hectic part of our daily routine! 2.

What we dislike

  • The finishing is not smooth though as it intentionally makes it look like it has corrosions and scratches – which may not be liked by everyone

3. The Cheat Sheets

The Cheat Sheets are basically, and this reference couldn’t be more relevant, social distancing containers for your ingredients. You use the same baking tray, but the Cheat Sheets silicone containers sit ON the tray, giving you miniature compartments to cook your food in. Veggies like asparagus that need shorter cook times can be added in the same tray as salmon, which needs more time in the oven. Once you feel like the asparagus is done, just reach in with your baking mitten and pull just the asparagus container out of the oven and let the salmon still cook inside. It’s easy, simple, and here’s the best part – your baking tray never gets dirty!

Why is it noteworthy?

Designed for better control, the Cheat Sheets don’t just allow you to segregate separate ingredients for the same dish, they let you simultaneously cook two separate dishes together too, separating them according to flavor. The most obvious instance is in desserts, where people tend to get picky. I, for instance, am a basic vanilla and fruit junkie, while others around me usually tend to gravitate towards decadent chocolate desserts. The Cheat Sheets allow you to simultaneously cook two separate dishes in their respective containers – as opposed to using rudimentary aluminum foil dividers or running your oven for two separate cycles.

What we like

  • Made from high-quality food-grade silicone
  • Allow you to simultaneously cook two separate dishes in their respective containers

What we dislike

  • No Complaints!

  • The redesign may not go well with those who love traditional style waffles

5. DADO

This minimalist-looking capsule tea machine is a concept design that can maybe someday fulfill my wish. It’s named DADO which is a term in East Asia that refers to making and drinking tea formally. The device doesn’t look like what you would use in a typical tea ceremony but the designer created something inspired by it but with a modern twist. The kettle part is inspired by what is used in traditional tea making and the minimalist design aims to bring a sense of calm and peace, things usually associated with drinking this caffeinated beverage.

Why is it noteworthy?

If you’ve used a coffee capsule machine then this follows pretty much the same procedure. There is a kettle and two cups placed on top of a “heating pad” that looks like an induction stovetop or a wireless charger. You need to fill the kettle with water in the bucket part located at the back. Then you have to preheat the cup or cups that are beside the kettle and all you have to do is press a button. In the traditional DADO, cups are pre-heated as well as part of the ceremony so that’s a pretty nice touch to add to this modern concept.

What we like

  • A mix of traditional + minimal aesthetics
  • Different flavors for the tea capsules

What we dislike

  • Disposable capsules with a substantial carbon footprint

6. Goldie

Fabian turned to Jennifer Yoko Olson, industrial designer, and fellow baking enthusiast.

7. The Bariseur

In its second edition, the beverage-brewing alarm clock comes with an updated design featuring a better brewing system using a one-of-a-kind immersion brewer that works equally well with tea or coffee. Rather than brewing your drink right into the cup, the immersion brewer keeps your beverage contained in a chamber, allowing you to pour yourself a cuppa whenever you need it. The smell, however, wafts out pretty effortlessly, allowing you to wake up to the aroma of coffee beans or aromatic tea.

Why is it noteworthy?

Bariseur’s ability to cross over into the multisensory realm makes waking up an absolute treat, because not only does it wake you up with sound, it tantalizes your nostrils with the smell of fresh coffee, getting you out of bed with something to look forward to, and probably a sunnier disposition too.

What we like

  • Comes with a mini-fridge to keep a small glass of milk refrigerated for you to pour into your coffee or tea
  • The immersion brewer is detachable, so you can brew multiple cups in a day

What we dislike

  • No Complaints!

8. USM-inspired Kettle

One thing that a lot of product designers like doing is to imagine and re-imagine what other products famous brands can come up with. They bring the original aesthetic of these design-focused brands and then think of what other furniture, appliances, or basically related (sometimes even unrelated) products they can come up with. We’ve seen some pretty interesting concepts out there. If you’re a fan of the Swiss modular furniture brand USM, this is something you’d like to take a look at.

Why is it noteworthy?

The base and the body of the kettle itself are the circles while the handle is rectangular. The spout where the water pours out is where the triangle comes in. The 3D renders also show the various colors that the kettle can have, which are the basic colors that the USM Haller line has: blue, orange, red, yellow, and white. The end product concept seems to be something I would like to have in my kitchen. It’s minimalist but sleek and really embodies the idea of form following function.

What we like

  • Clean + minimal aesthetics
  • Variety of USM-inspired colors

What we dislike

  • It’s still a concept!

9. The Flair 58

Created to let you manually brew your own coffee, the Flair 58 is an espresso maker that requires a bit of elbow grease. A lever-operated design lets you physically ‘pump’ your espresso, while a pressure gauge lets you know whether you’re hitting the exact 9 bars needed to make a delightfully brewed cup.

Why is it noteworthy?

The Flair 58, as its name suggests, comes outfitted with an industry-standard 58mm portafilter, allowing you to use existing filters/tampers with your device. If you’re the kind of person to obsess over the coffee they drink (as are a lot of people), the Flair 58 is the perfect addition to your coffee-making ritual, giving you the ability to make a cup that’s as artisanal and fresh as it gets!

What we like

  • The aluminum, complete with a black anodized finish, withstands years upon years of constant and consistent use, so your coffee tastes stunning even a decade from when you buy the Flair 58
  • The Flair 58 offers 3 temperature settings to choose from

What we dislike

  • No Complaints!

10. The Morphy Richards multi-oven

Be it baking a fresh batch of cookies, making crisp toasts, or smoking meat – this desirable oven can do it all in unprecedented style.

Top 10 kitchen appliances to prepare the ultimate breakfast

From a refreshing slide-out toaster to a smart tea maker – here are a collection of nifty kitchen gadgets that are sure to help you start off your morning in the most fun, hassle-free and efficient manner possible.

1. The Slide Toaster

Harry Rigler wants to reinvent the trusted image of the toaster with a detour to the soft form design of this household kitchen appliance. That too keeping in mind the requirements of modern users, and the present as well as future design progression of kitchen interiors. Rather than being a pop-up toaster like most out there, this is the Slide toaster which rolls the toasting grill to the side like a rollable smartphone. The tray slides out – you put in the bread and slide it back in. The toasting process begins in the Slide toaster with an LED ring indicating the toasting level and completion.

2. The Gevi

A 2021 winner of the Red Dot Design Award, the Gevi rubbishes the notion that a coffee machine needs to look like a large, bulky, boxy appliance. The 2-in-1 coffee grinder and brewer are visually separated into their two parts. The appliance comes with a base platform that has its own dedicated weighing scale to help you weigh the beans before you add them to the grinder. The grinder comes with a bean hopper on the top to feed the beans in, while commercial-level 60mm flat steel burrs help create a consistent grind of your beans (while anti-static measures help prevent particles from sticking/clumping). The dose consistency from beans to powder of the appliance is around 0.2g.

3. The Eggland Poacher

Designed as a pool tube that floats in water, this food-grade silicone device makes poaching eggs absolutely stress-free. Just place the Eggland in almost-boiling water, add a few drops of oil, and crack the egg right into its cavity. The egg looks like it’s lounging away, while the hot water below it cooks it to oozy-yolk perfection. Pull the device out by the handle that’s modeled after an inflatable palm tree, and flip the egg over your ham and cheese sandwich to upgrade it to an absolutely divine Croque Madame sandwich.

4. Multiplug

Designed with flexible catering in mind, Multiplug brings a new and welcomed element to social dining! Whilst one day we might just be cooking for ourselves and our partner, the next may see the entire family coming together for an occasion, at which point just the one hot plate doesn’t stretch very far! Multiplug’s flexible design allows for up to five of the devices to be connected together at any one time! Daisy-chaining the hotplates means that the food is within reaching distance of everyone on the table… perfect for those large social gatherings that we love!

5. Gutiérrez Rincón’s Toaster

Gutiérrez Rincón’s toaster design maintains a simple control panel in a similar fashion to related Smeg products and gleams with a polished finish reminiscent of 50s household appliances. From its base, Gutiérrez Rincón’s toaster is conceptualized with stainless steel legs that slightly raise the toaster from the kitchen counter. Rounding out its short-legged base, a reflective red aluminum finish gives the toaster a bright, energetic profile. Along the side, users can find the toaster’s control panel that features a sliding knob that allows users to change the timing of the toaster, while small buttons give users options to heat, defrost, power off, or toast.

6. The All-in-One Coffee Grinder

Scaling the machine down to a handheld device, Hsu’s All-in-One Coffee Grinder is about the same size as a conventional, reusable water bottle. Suitable for a camping retreat or overnight road trip, the All-in-One Coffee Grinder can be packed into any suitcase or carry-on for a quick cup of coffee when the mood hits. Comprised of three primary modules, the All-in-One Coffee Grinder keeps its power core and key control interface towards the topmost module, just above the loading tray. At its center, the All-in-One Coffee Grinder hosts its loading compartment which users can fill with coffee beans to grind. From there, users can twist the top module for grinding. Before spilling into the filter extraction cup, a dust covering sifts the coffee grinds.

7. The THRONE

Made from stainless steel, with a PVD coating to give it a nice pop of color, the THRONE is a beautifully simplistic tripod that holds your soft-boiled egg in place as you dig into it. The THRONE celebrates the egg’s goodness by allowing you to admire it as you eat it. Its minimalist design does a mighty good job of holding the egg in place while also showing it off… hence the name. The simple form factor, apart from being unusual to look at, is also stackable, non-breakable, and works equally well with lemons, mandarins, strawberries, and perhaps a medium-sized avocado too.

8. The TEO Smart Tea Maker

The TEO Smart Tea Maker has a sleek, monochromatic design that has a coffeemaker feel but tries to bring attention to the tea extract itself by making that part transparent. It is made up of three main parts: the water tank which looks like your average industrial-looking teapot; the brewing section where you’re supposed to put the tea leaves and where the magic happens; and the transparent glass container where the brewed tea is poured into. There’s actually a 4th component, the base which looks like an induction stove but with fewer confusing buttons.

9. The Cookin’Pods

Designed to let you boil pasta, vegetables, or even eggs in water without having to fish in with a slotted spoon to retrieve them later, the Cookin’Pods rest directly on the rim of your saucepan with their base immersed in the water. When you want to take your food out, just grab a pair of gloves and pull the Cookin’Pods out. The pods automatically strain your food in a split second, saving you time and effort. There’s a certain convenience to the Cookin’Pods but their biggest advantage is their ability to let you easily compartmentalize your cooking. Imagine having to cook pasta in boiling water as well as blanch vegetables.

10. Fooding

Fooding, a new kitchen appliance concept from Yifeeling Design, combines the best of the microwave and air fryer. Turns out, we can have it all. Inspired by the bulbous shape of an astronaut’s helmet, Fooding merges the microwave’s traditional rectangular shape with the air fryer’s modern rounded edges. Similar to conventional microwaves, Fooding features an internal, rotating heat plate and a heat-strengthened glass covering so users can always keep an eye on their food. On Fooding’s left-hand side, a control panel features all of the different cooking options, including thaw, roast, air fry, heat, and slow cook, along with varying degrees of temperature.

The Stuffed Pancake Maker: Breakfast Just Got a Whole Lot Batter

Breakfast: if it isn’t over the top, I’m not interested. Just ask my mom. I also don’t get green vegetables. But I’ll certainly eat an entire stack of stuffed pancakes made with The Original Stuffed Pancake Maker (affiliate link) from Pancake Wow! It makes delicious stuffed pancakes one at a time, or, in layman’s terms, not nearly fast enough for my appetite.

The process couldn’t be easier: you just pour in some batter, add the filling of your choice on top, close the lid, then pour more batter through the hole in the lid to seal in all that delicious goodness. Is your mouth watering? My mouth is watering.

I just bought one, and, God willing, it’ll arrive before the weekend so I can kick off Saturday morning in decadent style. Of course, I’ll have no choice but to make my first batch of pancakes stuffed with LEGO pieces, so my family realizes I’m not to be trusted cooking breakfast. Then all future stuffed pancakes will be made for me while I just sit at the breakfast bar with a glass of OJ and a napkin tucked into the neck of my pajama top. What can I say? I’m a schemer.

Tetris Pieces Waffle Maker: Start Playing with Your Food

Because playing with your food is an important part of a well-balanced breakfast, Firebox is selling this officially licensed Tetris Waffle Maker ($41), which produces seven different Tetrimino-shaped waffles in just minutes. Granted, it will probably never produce one of the long stick pieces when you really need it the most.

It’s fun to think about eating these waffles and then them forming different shapes in your stomach just like in the game, trying to minimize the amount of space they take up in your belly. Wait, did I say that was fun to think about? I meant to say that’s weird to think about.

Now, let’s have a Tetris waffle eating contest! I figure I’m good for at least 100 lines. Just a heads up though, I’ve never lost an eating contest, even if it meant hospitalization afterward. They’re one of the very few things I take seriously in life, along with sleeping in and extreme couponing.

This Vending Machine Will Make You Breakfast Slower than You Can Do it Yourself

Breakfast – the most important meal of the day – is also the easiest meal to make. Just pour some cereal and milk into a bowl and quicker than you can say “Snap! Crackle! Pop!” (if you say it super slowly), you’ve got yourself the breakfast of champions (particularly if you favor Wheaties). Leave it to the world’s biggest breakfast cereal manufacturer, Kellogg’s, partnered with DoorDash-owned Chowbotics to come up with a way to make that daily ritual complicated… with robots.

Specifically, they produced a vending machine operated by robots. Instead of just doing the pouring yourself, The Kellogg’s Bowl Bot lets you make a touchscreen selection of your preferred dairy (milk or yogurt), combinations of cereals and granolas, and toppings like fruit or cocoa nibs.

A retooled version of Chowbotics’ “Sally” fresh food and salad robot, the Kellogg’s Bowl Bot is basically a Coca-Cola Freestyle soda machine…but for breakfast. It’s g-r-r-r-e-a-t if you’re on the run, have run out of Frosted Mini-Wheats, you’re simply the worst cook on the planet.

If choosing a cereal combo is too daunting a task, the robot can whip up a premium combo from its preset menu of things like the “Hawaii 5-0 (Frosted Mini-Wheats, Bear Naked Fit Triple Berry Granola, pineapple, coconut, and mango). Or you could just punch in an order for my personal recipe called “Sugar Rush”: Froot Loops, Sugar Smacks, and Kellogg’s new Little Debbie Cosmic Brownie Cereal with rainbow chips. Then ask your doctor if insulin replacement therapy is right for you.

The robots are being launched at college campuses, where sleepy students at the University of Wisconsin -Madison and Florida State University can skip cafeteria lines by paying the Kellogg’s robot $2.99 to $6.50 per bowl

Spooky Friends Waffle Maker Brings Halloween to the Breakfast Table

When you think of Halloween, it typically conjures up images of dark and scary places. Trick-or-treating is generally a nighttime activity except for maybe the tots. One thing that I don’t associate with Halloween is sunrise and breakfast time. However, I have been known to partake in the occasional bowl of Count Chocula or Boo Berry. Now, you can celebrate Halloween with waffles too.

The guys at Waffle Wow! are making this Halloween-inspired waffle maker that cranks out seven different mini waffles for kids to enjoy this October. The waffle shapes include a pumpkin, ghost, haunted house, spider, bat, cat, and cauldron designs. The non-stick cooker is easy to use and makes quick work of pancake or waffle batter.

It’s a fun idea to expand the holiday to breakfast time, though I wonder if this thing would just gather dust for 11 months out of the year. I think I’d rather go with their cars and trucks waffle maker, which I would use year-round. If you like the idea of Halloween waffles, you can get the Spooky Friends Waffle Maker over on Amazon (affiliate link) for $37.95.

Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head Egg Cups Are All They’re Cracked Up to Be

Eggs. I love them scrambled, over-easy, in an omelette, on top of a burger, poached, or boiled. And potatoes aren’t too shabby either, but they’re just not as healthy for you as eggs are. Well, now you can enjoy potatoes with your eggs without the added carbs, thanks to these Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head Egg Cups.

Collectible swag maker and gift maker Paladone created these officially-licensed egg cups based on the starchy couple as they appear in Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story series. They’ll give your hard or soft-boiled eggs a fresh new look, and let you play dress-up at the dining table every day. Simply put your egg in those waist-high potato pants, then pop on the hair, ears, and eyeballs (which are all one piece.) Voila! Eggs and potatoes living in perfect harmony.

Warning: Don’t attempt to do the same with a regular Mr. Potato Head toy, or you’ll end up with a mess on your hands as you try to poke the eyes through the eggshell.

Naturally, they’re sold as a set of two, because Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head are inseparable, and they won’t let any old fry gal break them up. You can grab the pair over at Firebox for just $12.99. Now for some reason I am reminded of Humpty Dumpty.

Building Brick Waffle Maker: LEGGO My LEGO

Of the many things I’ve enjoyed in my life, LEGO bricks and belgian waffles are pretty high on the list. So I was pretty stoked when I saw this waffle maker that lets you combine these two passions of mine into one.

The Building Brick Waffle Maker works just like any other waffle iron, except this one cranks out stackable blocks that you can build things with. It makes three different sizes of building bricks: 1×1, 1×2, and 1×4, and they have cutouts on their bottoms so they interlock just like LEGO.

You can make all kinds of edible sculptures with your waffle bricks, from small waffle houses, to giant waffle mansions. Your only constraint is your imagination – and your bowl of batter. Of course, I prefer to eat my waffles while they’re piping hot, so I don’t know if I’d get very far before I started to dig into my constructions.

The guys behind the project are making matching plates which serve as a base for stacking waffle bricks, and also have a couple of little side trays for dipping syrup or butter. While they’re not essential for building, they make a nice accessory.

You can pre-order the Building Brick Waffle Maker over on Kickstarter now. They’ve already met their funding goal, so that’s great news. Prices start at just $50 for the waffle iron itself, and start at $75 for a bundle with two baseplates for building. They hope to start shipping as soon as August 2020.

Pagan Breakfast God Mask Celebrates Bacon, Eggs, and Toast

Growing up, Kellogg’s and Post had convinced me that sugary cereals drowning in milk were “part of a nutritious breakfast.” But as I grew up, I came to realize that protein is a much more important start to the day. Nowadays, I have some eggs and maybe some breakfast meat to get my day going. And when I’m feeling like a little carbs to go with, some toast and butter fills the bill quite nicely.

To celebrate my love for these great American breakfast foods, I should probably start wearing this Pagan Breakfast God Mask.

This ridiculous tribute to our morning meat and carb ritual comes from the deranged minds at Archie McPhee, who insist you don’t need to wait until Halloween to dress up like this. Actually, I think this could make a great Mardi Gras costume, and that’s coming up in just about a month. The only thing it’s missing for New Orleans’ big party is a bowl of grits, but I suppose you could just carry that around in a cup and eat some while you catch beads and doubloons.
