These new-generation candles add a calming process to your bedtime routine

Don’t we all fall asleep every night while scrolling through our phones? Attending to all of the notifications received throughout the day feels like a responsibility. However, responding to any of these notifications opens up an entire thread of messages, causing you to lose track of time and fall behind on your sleep routine.

People in the pre-tech era had better sleeping habits. Blue light is harmful to the eyes and affects one’s circadian rhythms (aka sleep-wake cycle) which is why it is recommended that one does not look at any screen till two hours before sleeping in order to have a good and well-rested sleep.

Designer: Pelin Özbalcı

Candles were utilized for purposes other than fragrance in the past. Candle timers are thin candles with evenly spaced markings that, when lighted, represent the passage of time. They also provided a soothing environment to promote one’s circadian rhythms but lacked the ease and dependability of modern technologies. Many people find it difficult merely to lie down and sleep. Our minds are glued to the distractions that the screens offer. We wait till our eyes fatigue and dry out and we can no longer stay awake. This one-of-a-kind method for truly unwinding and relaxing your mind is exactly what you need to incorporate into your everyday sleep regimen.

CClock is a modern-day candle timer that incorporates simple mechanic controls while retaining the simplicity and tranquility of traditional candle clocks. This product allows one to reap the benefits without having to worry about running out of wax.

The clock features an adjustable lever and a darkened timer, allowing customers to personalize their experience and adapt it to their preferred ambiance. This keeps a person preoccupied and disconnected from the screen one can zone out and eventually fall asleep by watching the candle burn out. The approach encourages a healthy sleep cycle. However, the use of yellow light as an alternative to the currently recommended white light can be looked into it. Yellow light is better suitable for resting eyes and would improve the peaceful experience by proving beneficial for circadian rhythms.

gif 2

The body of the battery-operated CClock has a sleek and modern appearance and is accented with six orange dots, each signifying 10 minutes of total timer capacity for a maximum of 60 minutes. This allows customers to set their desired relaxation time easily and correctly, with clear and easy indicators that improve usage and convenience.

CClock can also be used as part of the ambient lighting in a room. To illuminate the entire product, flip the lever upwards once it has reached its maximum position and has darkened entirely. This operation will disable the timer and allow the candle to burn completely and indefinitely. This function gives users more freedom in how they use the device by allowing them to switch from timed relaxation to full candlelight as needed.

The design can be upgraded by adding a feature of the sunlight alarm. Sunlight alarms are lights that progressively brighten up at a set time allowing you to gradually experience and wake up as the sun rises. Combining the 2 products would undoubtedly upsell this thoughtful design.

The candle’s framework is intended to be versatile. In addition to serving as a stable platform for the electronic candle and lever mechanism, the base has a small compartment for rings or other small things. This enhanced functionality allows consumers to store jewelry, hair accessories, chains, earphones, or any other valuables while using the device in a convenient and secure location.

Incredibly Realistic Food Candles: Good Enough to Eat?

Because who doesn’t want a bunch of candles they have to be reminded not to eat all the time, Atlanta tattoo artist Chavonna “Bang” Ross created Bang’N Candles, an impressively large line of candles inspired by the food we all know and love. If you’ve eaten it, Bang probably makes a candle version, with over 200 different varieties to choose from. I’ll have the Surf & Turf and a Ceasar salad, please!

All the candles are made from 100% soy wax, and some are even scented like the dishes they look like. Others are just fresh linen-scented. Honestly, that’s probably smart, considering if a candle smells like the hot wing basket with fries, it looks like I probably will eventually take a bite.

I like how the candles come in the appropriate serving containers, too; that’s a nice touch. Touching an open flame? Not such a nice touch. A bad touch, as a matter of fact, but like a moth, I just can’t help myself. No wonder my wife replaced all the candles around our house with those fake LED ones.

Sfumato Candle designed with architectural and painting inspiration from Da Vinci

Sfumato Candle Details

Burning scented candles don’t just light up the surroundings. It offers several benefits, whether for ceremonial or decorative purposes. No doubt candles deliver aesthetic value and scent to set a nice ambiance to an otherwise dull surrounding.

Candles are famous for their soothing effect on the body and soul. They help create a peaceful surrounding, making them suitable for one’s health and sanity. The Sfumato Candle is a product design that makes the candle, a simple object, more beautiful than ever while it helps you destress and relax.

Designer: Kegan McDaniel

Concept Sfumato Candle Design

The Sfumato Candle throws some architectural inspiration into the design. The results are interesting visual elements, as shown by this unique vessel for scents. The Sfumato Candle is made of cast concrete, so this can be one sturdy home decor. The concrete finish reflects the stone, which is often used in architecture.

Sfumato Candle Design Concept

The word “Sfumato” means “to evaporate like smoke.” The designer learned the term from a book about Leonardo Da Vinci. Sfumato was a special technique used by Da Vinci in painting. The artist used it to blur the edges of objects to soften focus. This then gave the illusion of aerial perspective and realism. The designer Kegan McDaniel loved the word and thought it would make a fantastic brand name.

Sfumato Candle Colors Fragrances

The designer worked on different scents for the concept candle. There are three fragrances available: Tuscan Fields, Amalfi Citrus, and Sicilian Sage. These candles also come in different colors depending on the scent: green, yellow, and red. Using the Italian regions for the name of scents is a reference to Leonardo Da Vinci’s home country.

Sfumato Candle

Kegan McDaniel isn’t new on our radar as we’ve seen and enjoyed his previous designs. The ARUS Drone, aka the Dronut, gave us giggles. The Aged & Ore Travel Decanter became an actual product, allowing you to enjoy your favorite cocktails or spirits wherever your travel takes you. His Nike X Crocs footwear concept design made us wish it would go into production even if the pair looked weird to many.

As for candles, there have been plenty of designs that we found interesting. The Spiral Light Candles could burn for 40 hours with its spiral-shaped wick. The Infinite Candle from more than a decade ago was designed to make another candle as it burns. You see, candles are centuries old, but they will never disappear. Candle innovations will be introduced as long as there are people exercising their creativity to make something new and beautiful.

This innovative aroma diffuser needs no batteries to spread its calming scents

You no longer need to worry about Mother Earth when enjoying your favorite scents, thanks to this sustainable aroma diffuser that doesn’t require batteries to do its magic.

Over the past few years, there has been a great deal of attention paid to the quality of air at home. In addition to concerns about bacteria and viruses in the air, there has also been increased awareness of how scents and odors can play a huge role in decreasing or even increasing stress levels at home. Aroma or scent diffusers have been around for years, but they have seen an uptick in interest and sales recently. All of them advertise how easy they are to use, at least until it comes time to change the batteries or recharge the device. With this minimalist alternative, however, you don’t even have to stress about those. All you really need is a candle and your favorite aromatic oil.

Of course, aroma diffusers that use candles are nothing new, but they suffer from a critical flaw. Unlike electronic diffusers, they rely simply on vapor and natural air movement to carry the scent around the room. That doesn’t always work without something pushing the aromatic air, which is what the Lei aroma diffuser offers without relying on electricity.

Actually, it does use electricity but not in the way you’d think. It doesn’t have batteries, nor do you need to plug it in. Instead, it uses the heat from a carefully shielded candle to generate electrical power to move a small, single-blade fan. That fan then gently pushes air forward and helps the scent along to reach farther than it would have with a simplistic candle diffuser.

This illusion of a magical mechanism is enhanced by the minimalist design of the diffuser. With no extraneous parts other than the metal frame, the fan blade, and the candle itself, it’s almost unthinkable how the contraption works to gently spread good smells around the room. The dancing flame of the candle also serves as a mesmerizing focal point that could help you relax even further.

With no wires and no complicated parts, this battery-free aroma diffuser is built to last. It is also built from recyclable materials so that it can continue its life in another form when its end does come. Beautifully minimalist and sustainable, this aroma diffuser promises the ultimate guilt-free relaxation at home, in the office, or anywhere you need to create your calming scent bubble, safe from the worries of the odors around you.

Realistic Grilled Steak Dinner Candles Look Good Enough to Eat

Because Japan is famous for developing products long before we recognize the need for them, this is the steak candle from century-old Japanese candle manufacturer Kameyama. It looks like a steak dinner and smells like a steak dinner, leading me to question whether or not it really is a steak dinner. Obviously, I’m afraid I have no choice but to convince a friend to take a bite and find out.

The steak candle set, available from the Japan Trend Shop for $25, includes steak, potato, beans, and carrot candles, which are all “charcoal-grilled meat” scented. Are they the perfect candles for lighting in the bedroom to set the mood for an evening of romance? Probably not, but that won’t stop me from trying.

The steak candle has a burn time of about an hour and the vegetables about five minutes apiece. That’s not a very long time, but still significantly longer than it would take me to enjoy an actual steak dinner, with my personal best being before the waiter could even set the plate down on the table.

Ornate candles that turn your mantelpiece into a miniature landscape!

Named the ‘Tusk Candle’ collection, these decorative candles are inspired by natural motifs: Ivory, tusks, canines, teeth, and other fangs, although when put together, it’s difficult to discount that they look like an undulating landscape of mountains! The Tusk series of candles come made in 100% beeswax with a hemp wick. The hand-casted candles boast of an eye-catching ridged surface that not only lends beauty to the candles, but also helps slow down its burning time, allowing each candle to last for longer. Even when unlit, the candles have a way of brightening a room by how appealing they look. Stack them together and they resemble rocks, mountains, or sand-dunes, giving your tabletop or manteltop surface a raw and calming aesthetic! The candles come unscented, but I do wish they had potpourri fragrances!

Game of Thrones Candles: The Scents of Castamere

Candles are good for some things, like killing the stench of unwashed bodies after binging years of Game of Thrones episodes in one weekend sans shower leading up to the new season’s debut. You don’t want just any scent covering up the B.O. when watching HBO’s hit drama, no, you want these Game of Thrones scented candles.

They come in scents representing House Stark and House Lannister. The gray tin is the House Stark sigil candle that smells like pine. That isn’t what you might expect house Stark to smell like. I’d wager it smells more like a combination of hay and wolf shit.

As for the House Lannister candle, it presumably smells better, as it’s cinnamon scented. That must be what gold and love for your sister smells like. Each of the candles is $12.99 at ThinkGeek and are shipping now.

What Does Star Wars Smell Like? These Candles

Do you want your house to smell like Wookiee? What about Rancor? Worse yet, the inside of a Tauntaun. Well, thanks to these Star Wars candles, you can choose from 15 pungent fragrances based on the original trilogy and make your home smell… weird.

They’re offering three sets of five scents, each based on one of the three original Star Wars movies. I’m willing to bet these all smell terrible. Here’s a full list of the scents:

A New Hope

  • Wookie: Ever wondered what a walking carpet smells like?
  • Bantha Milk: (Or “Banther” as misspelled on the label) Love the smell of bantha milk in the morning?
  • Trash Compactor: Find out what was very nearly the last smell Luke, Leia and Han ever experienced
  • X-wing Cockpit: Perfect for playthroughs of Battlefront’s aerial combat
  • Cantina: Eau de scum and villainy

The Empire Strikes Back

  • Lightsaber Duel: Do you prefer the smell of the dark side or the light side?
  • Han Solo Carbonite: This smell is all Leia had to remember Han for a long time
  • Millenium Falcon: She may not look much, but she’s got it where it counts (the smell)
  • Inside of a Tauntaun: Thought it smelt bad on the outside? You’ve experienced nothing yet!
  • Yoda’s Cooking Pot: Yoda’s legendary Force powers are only eclipsed by his cooking skills. Smell it for yourself!

Return Of The Jedi

  • Rancor: The only way to smell a Rancor without ending up its lunch
  • Sarlacc Pit: Add a new dimension to your favourite ROTJ scene
  • Jabba’ Palace: Admit it, you’ve always wondered what Jabba smells like
  • Ewok: Do they smell as cute as they look? Let’s find out!
  • Death Star Destroyed: The sweet smell of rebellion

These are all things my nose wants to stay away from. They are really reaching with this product. Clearly, there’s only one scent the makers of these candles are interested in, and that’s money.

The Star Wars original trilogy candle sets are available for pre-order from Merchoid, ranging from a 5-candle set for $36.99 to a 15-candle set for $127.99.

WTF Prank Candles Go from Yummm to Ewwwww

Candles are good because they make your room smell nice… and because fire. But if you want to mess with people who like candles, you might want to get some of these to give your friends at the office Christmas party that will be here before you know it.

These prank candles start out smelling nice, and then as they melt they go straight to stank. The candles come in Cereal Killer and Mountain Doo Doo scents. Cereal Killer starts out smelling like that sweet glory that is breakfast cereal and then goes to stinky breath scent.

Mountain Doo Doo starts smelling like a highly caffeinated soda and then goes to a nasty body odor scent. The scent transition happens after a few hours of burning. The downside is if you give it in the box, it says clearly it is a prank candle, so consider taking it out before you give these to your Secret Santa recipient. Each candle will cost you $12.99 (and a friendship) at ThinkGeek.
