Colin Furze Made a Jet-Powered Star Wars Landspeeder

Inventor and madman Colin Furze has built some pretty wild stuff over the years. Among my favorites are his Star Wars-inspired projects, which so far have included a giant AT-ACT playhouse and a full-size TIE Silencer ships. I can only imagine what Colin’s neighbors must think of him.

Furze has yet again teamed up with eBay UK to sponsor a Star Wars build, this time replicating Luke’s X-34 landspeeder from A New Hope.

What’s really amazing about the project is that it’s not only quite accurate to the version seen on screen, but that it actually can drive. Furze started off with a standard golf cart he found on the auction website, and proceeded to rip it apart, leaving just the chassis, suspension and steering.

He then crafted a beautiful bent metal body for the vehicle then painted it up to look like it did on screen. Initially, he upgraded the cart’s electric motor for motivation, but that wasn’t enough for Furze, so he later added some jet engines to give it a little extra oomph.

You can check out the finished landspeeder build in the video clip below:

While the jets add an awesome look and sound effects to the vehicle, they actually don’t make it go that fast, so Furze thinks that at some point he might put in a more powerful electric motor, or possibly put a good, old-fashioned internal combustion engine. Regardless of how fast it goes, it’s still an amazing build.

Colin Furze made a real version of Junkrat’s RIP-tire from ‘Overwatch’

If you need something from pop culture brought to life, then the first person to call is Colin Furze, YouTube's own mad inventor. Furze has already made working versions of the grapple gauntlet from Assassin's Creed and Wolverine's claws from the X-M...

Colin Furze Creates Jet Powered Micro Scooter for His Kid

Mad scientist and all-around fun guy Colin Furze has created another crazy project. This powered micro scooter is a bit less dangerous than some of his previous builds, because he actually wanted to let his 5-year-old son ride on it. Even though he calls it “Jet Powered”, it actually doesn’t have a pulse jet or turbine engine on it.

That would be crazy even for Colin. Hell, the kid would be shot into the air as soon as he stepped on this thing. Furze chose to go with an electric EDF (electric ducted fan). He threw in a few R/C essentials like an ESC, receiver and battery pack, some brackets and the Jet Powered Micro Scooter was born. Check out the build in the video below, or skip ahead to 6:10 to see it in action.

Since it’s remote-controlled, Colin was able to let his son take a ride while he controlled everything. With his son riding this scooter, it’s obviously not as insane as some of his past creations. You have to keep your kid safe after all. This scooter looks like a lot of fun. All I know is, it must be super cool to have a dad like Colin Furze.

I bet this kid grows up to follow in his dad’s footsteps.

Colin Furze Builds Alexa Voice-activated Flamethrower

Madman builder Colin Furze continues to add to his arsenal of dangerous playthings. This time, he designed and built Alexa voice-activated flamethrower. This guy never stops building insane things that could put him in the hospital. Or worse. I guess we can all vicariously live through him so that we don’t have to face the danger.

To be honest, this thing less of a flamethrower and more of a jet flames downward situation. If your coffee machine switched from dripping coffee down into your cup to shooting fire down into it, this is what it would look like – minus the visit from the fire department. You can skip to 7:30 in the video if you just want to see the thing in action and don’t care about how he built it.

Also, I just want to say, you shouldn’t ever give Alexa fire. I mean, one minute you’re playing the Talking Heads’ “Burning down the House” and the next your house is burning. Not cool, Alexa. Not cool at all.

The Carvet Turns a Car into a Bed You Can Drive

British inventor Colin Furze has created a lot of cool things over the years. His latest invention? The “Carvet”, a duvet that turns a car seat into a comfy bed, while still providing access to the controls.

Sleeping in a car is never comfortable, but the Carvet makes you feel more like you’re at home in bed – a bed that you can still drive. Obviously don’t fall asleep at the wheel while using it. That would be bad.

You have to love Colin Furze. The man is always thinking about how he can better our lives.

Dirty Baby Washing Machine is Something All Parents Want

I learned a few things the hard way when my son was born. For instance, I knew you had to keep a hand on the baby while they were on the changing table lest he roll off. No one told me the second you take off a diaper, the baby will literally pee everywhere. I mean I had no idea until he started screaming because he peed in his own eye, on the wall, on my arm, and directly onto the other clean diapers in the instant I looked away for a wipe. I didn’t even know it was possible to pee in your own eye before that incident.

They also don’t tell you that baby poo smells like a turd’s turd and that a baby can literally shit out its own weight into a single diaper. If they told us this stuff ahead of time, no one would have kids, and humanity would go extinct. Fortunately, Colin Furze has invented something that all parents will want, it’s a dirty baby washing machine.

It doesn’t tumble the baby around or anything, it started life as a jet hand dryer, but with some major upgrades. It squirts water and blows the poo off without the need to touch stinky diapers. There’s one fatal flaw in Colin’s design though, because trust me, kids will pee as soon as that jet air comes on and it will go everywhere.

Colin Furze Makes Microwave That Plays Video Games While You Wait

There’s nothing more boring than waiting around for your meal to cook. Well, Colin Furze has a solution. The Play-A-Wave, a game console for bored chefs (no, not board chefs.)

Furze built an LCD screen is built into the door, which had to be modified with added shielding to prevent the screen from going all wonky when the microwave is on. Rather than building a console into the oven, he simply included audio and video ports on the front, and connected one of those cheap plug-and-play retro game systems.

The quality of the games leave something to be desired, but at least you won’t have to be bored and play with one of those stupid fidget spinners while you are waiting. This is a much better use of your time.

Just heat up that Hot Pocket or Hungry Man and play a game to pass the time.

Colin Furze Lights Fireworks with a Giant Fire Tornado: Just Another Day

Colin Furze has gone and done another crazy awesome thing. No surprise there. This time it was all to celebrate his YouTube channel reaching another big milestone: four million subscribers! So how does one commemorate such an achievement? Naturally, by lighting a fireworks display using a giant homemade 20-foot-tall fire tornado.

Doesn’t everyone have one of these in their backyard? As usual, Furze demonstrated how he built his latest invention as well, with videos about the base and the cage of the machine, which are also below.

A 20 foot fire tornado, people! It is amazing to see it in action. Especially when the fireworks start. Me? I want to make this into a raging BBQ pit.

Colin Furze Builds 18-Foot Star Wars AT-ACT Playhouse

A giant tall imperial walker playhouse is every kid’s dream. Well, Colin Furze is making dreams come true, because he built one in his backyard for his kids.

This 18 foot-tall walker was built to scale using an AT-ACT toy from Rogue One for reference. An AT-ACT is just like an AT-AT except that it means extra toy money for Hasbro. Its head is a bit different and it has a cargo compartment in its body. The playhouse has a retractable, electric-powered staircase, and an interior full of Star Wars toys and memorabilia.

It towers over some of his neighbor’s houses and looks like it is about to start destroying things. I love the aerial shots of this thing in Colin’s video:

Obviously, it really rocks to have a mad scientist dad like Colin Furze. I’m not sure that his neighbors would agree though.

Colin Furze Builds 360 Swing as Tall as His House

Remember when you were a kid and you would try to swing over the bar? Well, since Colin Furze never grew up, he’s fulfilling his childhood fantasy at a terrifying scale. Safety equipment? Who needs that?

colin_furze_1zoom in

The the apex of the swing is about 31 feet high, and the A-frame supports of this counterweighted swing are as tall as Furze’s Lincolnshire, UK home. Watch him do his thing and try not to wince.

This is just further proof that Colin is crazy, but you have to admire his tenacity and bravery. He could easily fall from over two stories up there.  One of these days, I’m afraid he is going to hurt himself with one of his builds, but it sure is fun to watch him do his thing.

If you think this was nuts, Colin indicates at the end of the video that he might add some power to the rig. 360º jetpack swing, anyone?
