Vyper Workshop Chairs: The Ferrari of Shop Chairs

Designed for use in workshops and garages by people who are all too familiar with their hands being covered in grease and/or fresh wounds, Vyper Shop Chairs are a high-end line of chairs designed with both comfort and functionality in mind. I can already see myself racing around the office on one, only to get an email requesting a meeting from HR a short time after.

The chairs are available in tall and short models, and with or without backs. I’m a tall, with back kinda guy, but to each their own. Optional upgrades include a tool tray or a sidekick with two cup holders (or one cup holder and one small dog food bowl) and a tool holder for your cordless drill or whatever you might be working with. Me? I only need a hammer.

The chairs start at around $550, so they aren’t the cheapest shop chairs on the market, but they sure beat sitting on a couple of stacked cinder blocks as I do now. My back hates me. Honestly, from all the stiffness and popping I hear when I get up in the morning, I’d say most of my body hates me.

Plufl: A Dog Bed for Humans

Presumably a little drunk and inspired by how comfortable a dog bed looked at the time, University of British Columbia students Noah Silverman and Yuki Kinoshita developed the Plufl, a giant dog-style bed intended for human use. Alternatively, just buy an x-large dog bed and curl up in that. Just don’t be surprised if the cat beats you to it and swats at you whenever you come near.

The $399 Plufl is currently an already funded Kickstarter project, and Noah and Yuki say they engineered the bed “to provide the optimal napping experience” and “maximize comfort and foster a sense of security, delivering relief for those who have ADHD, stress, and anxiety-related issues.” I’m pretty sure that covers everybody. Like a security blanket… in a dog bed. See how I tied all that together? I didn’t briefly consider going to journalism school for nothing.

Admittedly, it does look comfy – but $400? That’s an awful lot of money just to constantly try to explain to my dog that the dog bed that looks like it’s for her is actually for me. Eventually, I’ll give up because she’s just too cute and return to sleeping on the sofa while she sleeps in my Plufl – probably with my pillow too.

Meditation Desk Chair Lets You Sit Cross-Legged at Your Computer

The Pipersong Meditation Desk Chair is a desk chair designed for sitting cross-legged at your computer, so you can get your work done and align your chakras simultaneously. MULTI-TASKING. Not only is the chair suitable for cross-legged sitting, but also a variety of other unorthodox seated/kneeling/squatting positions so you can “activate your sit” or switch between numerous positions without the need for more chairs. Me? I’m lying in bed right now.

The chair is available on Amazon (affiliate link) in four colors and features 4″ of vertical adjustment in the seat, as well as a footstool with 360-degrees of swivel motion, so it can be placed to the side or behind you in the event you want to sit traditional style. Alternatively, greet coworkers crouched on your desk like a tiger about to attack. HR loves it when I do that.

Hey, whatever increases blood flow and prevents my legs from going numb, I’m all for. I hate walking on numb legs. Honestly, I hate walking in general. I mean, where the hell are the hoverboards Back to the Future II promised we’d have by 2015? You lied to me, Robert Zemeckis!

Amagami Ham Ham, A Plushie That Nibbles Your Fingers

Amagami Ham Ham is a plush toy that nibbles the end of your fingers when you stick them in its mouth. Apparently, that’s supposed to be comforting. Personally, I find that the opposite of comforting, but that’s just me, and I was raised on a crocodile farm. There was no nibbling, only death or dismemberment.

Recently on display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 in Las Vegas, the 8-inch Amagami Ham Ham (Amagami means soft bite in Japanese, and ham means bite as well) will be available in both dog (Kotaru) and cat (Yuzu) varieties, so you can have your fingers nibbled by your pet of choice. They feature 24 different bite styles, which they deliver at random, including “Tasting HAM, Holding Tight HAM, and Massaging HAM.” I… don’t like the sound of any of those.

Yukai Engineering and Liv Heart Corporation, the companies responsible for the toy, plan to go live with a crowdfunding campaign in early 2022, so stay tuned to the official website if you’re interested. Still, I think we can all agree Teddy Ruxpin did it first, even if it was accidental. Sure he may have just been trying to read me a bedtime story, but that didn’t stop me from jamming my fingers in his mouth trying to get him to stutter. He never did miss a beat, though; I’ll give him that.

Finally, The Banana Cat Bed Your Cats Have Been Meowing for

Cats: they’re particular. You buy them a fancy memory foam bed for $80 and they sleep in the sink. Enter the Banana Cat Bed, a plush, banana-shaped cat bed, complete with a peelable peel on top. I can close my eyes and already see my cat sleeping in the packaging it came in.

While available in a variety of sizes (18-inch small, $20; 22-inch medium, $25; 26-inch large, $30; and 36-inch extra-large, $41), it is not available in a variety of colors. It’s yellow or nothing.

What the – you’re not a cat! I suppose it also makes a decent dog bed, and not just for small dogs. I mean a 36-inch banana is a pretty big banana. Maybe not the biggest piece of produce I’ve ever seen, but I have been to some serious county fairs. But have I ever won a giant stuffed animal at the ring toss? Not even after throwing $350 of rings in a sitting.
