New Dead Space 3 Game Modes Encourage Replay After You Finish the Game

Considering I’m a huge fan of science fiction, first person shooters, and video games, on paper you would expect me to enjoy the Dead Space franchise. In reality, I’ve never been a big fan of the series. There are a lot of people out there who love the franchise though, and its third installment is set to launch very soon. Ahead of launch the developers are offering up a few interesting new details on the game.

Dead Space 3 executive producer Steve Papoutsis has revealed that the game will have four additional difficulty modes that will only unlock after players beat the game one time. Two of these new modes will include Classic and Hardcore. Classic mode removes the new game’s crosshairs and resource management system to make it feel and play more like past games in the series. The Hardcore mode gives players only a single life for the entire campaign. Yikes.

Game+ mode lets you play through the game again with all of your weapons and arsenal that you finished the game with. DS3 will also feature an interesting Pure Survival mode where the players have to craft everything they use from ammo to health and weapons. In this mode there are no resources hidden around the map. That sounds like a cool challenge. Papoutsis also said that after launch the game would get new downloadable content. He wouldn’t give up any details of exactly what be in that DLC, but he said think “disturbing” to get an idea of what may be coming.

Dead Space 3 releases on February 5, 2013 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Dead Space 3 Downloadable Demo Available on January 22

We have talked a few times about the coming video game from EA and Visceral Games called Dead Space 3. Last time we mentioned the game it was getting voice command support for Microsoft Kinect users. EA has now announced that the downloadable demo for the shooter be available on the Xbox Life Marketplace and the PlayStation Network on January 22, 2013.

The demo will put players into the shoes of Isaac Clarke and his co-op companion Sergeant John Carver. The demo will see players crash land on the planet Tau Volantis. The planet is covered in ice and teeming with Necromorphs. The game promises the same kind of nail-biting action we’re used to seeing in the franchise with a mix of horror, action and suspense.

Dead Space 3 is set to launch on February 5, 2013 in North America on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Xbox 360 gamers can get access to the demo a week early if they sign-up on the official demo website.

Dead Space 3 Gets Voice Command Support with Kinect on Xbox 360

Dead Space 3 should be one of the first big video games of 2013. This horror/sci-fi franchise has been around for several years and the third installment is expected early next year. EA and Visceral Games have announced a new feature for Xbox 360 owners who play the game. Players who have a Kinect hooked to their console will be able to use their voice to control the game.

Players will be able to issue commands including find partner, attack enemy, fire stasis, and more. Players will also be able to give each other health, ammo, find objectives, and revive fallen comrades all using their voice.

Only Xbox 360 gamers will get this voice interaction, though the game will be available for the PS3 and PC as well. The North American launch date is February 5, 2013, and the game will launch in Europe a few days later on February 8, 2013.
