Glass Chicken Wine and Whiskey Decanter Set: Cock-A-Doodle-Drink

Because what better way to let guests know you take Thanksgiving far more seriously than anyone ever should, The Wine Savant has crafted the Rooster Glass Decanter Set. Available on Amazon (affiliate link), the set features a headless rooster decanter, along with two tasting glasses. Obviously, it’s perfect for sipping turkey gravy at the dinner table while your family watches in horror.

The cock-a-doodle-decanter holds 500ml of your favorite wine or spirit and has received 5 out of 5 stars according to nine reviews on Amazon. Clearly, there’s something I’m missing here. Per one verified buyer: “This cock will be proudly displayed for every party we have moving forward.” Well, the thing I’m missing definitely isn’t maturity.

Personally, I don’t drink anything that warrants decanting, but that’s just me, and I’m old-fashioned. And by old fashioned, I mean drink cheap domestic beer out of a beer helmet. My wife hates it, especially when I insist on wearing it at the fancy dinner parties her friends throw.

Glass Ship in a Bottle Liquor Decanter: Grog Me!

Because fancy liquor demands a fancy decanter, retailer of things you didn’t know you needed Firebox is selling this very nautical $70 Ship In A Bottle Decanter. It features a borosilicate glass ship in a 750ml bottle, complete with cork stopper (ignore the glass one in the photos) for a satisfying ‘pop’ whenever it’s rum time. It’s five o’clock somewhere, right? Which means it’s also one o’clock somewhere else and time for my nap.

Obviously, any pirate captain would be remiss to not have a ship in a bottle decanter in his cabin. I mean without one how could his crew take him seriously and not mutiny? Just like the song goes, “Yo, ho, ho, and a ship in a bottle of rum.” It’s practically a requisite for not having to walk the plank.

I really want one, but I’m torn. On the one hand, my nautical/tiki themed office pretty much demands this ship in a bottle decanter be on display. But on the other hand, a hook. Get it? Pirate joke! Yarrrrrr!

Star Trek: The Next Generation Whiskey Decanter Set

Because boldly going where no man has gone before is excuse enough for a cocktail, this is the Star Trek: The Next Generation 5-Piece Whiskey Decanter Set from Robe Factory and available on Amazon for $100 (affiliate link). Jim Beam me up, Scotty.

The set includes a 26-ounce decanter etched with the United Federation of Planets logo along with the USS Enterprise’s NCC-1701-D designation and delta shield. The 10-ounce tumbler glasses also include the Enterprise’s designation as well as the delta shield, and the whole set has a unique curve to it so it’s clear they’re from outer space and the future.

Call me old fashioned, but I drink my whiskey straight from the bottle it comes in. That way I don’t have to wash any extra glasses, because I don’t live in the future and my apartment doesn’t have a dishwasher. Well I mean it does, but I’m it.

Someone invented this travel-safe decanter to carry your spirits with you on holidays!

I’m assuming there’s a big enough niche for people who like carrying their preferred poison with them wherever they go. I won’t lie, I’ve tried carrying bottles around on flights and they’re an intensely stressful experience. Thankfully I’ve never been the recipient of shoddy cargo-handling and my bottles have always come out intact, but that luck doesn’t extend to everyone. If a bottle is breakable, chances are it will break, so it’s best you be prepared with a product like the Travel Decanter, a glass decanter housed in a secure, double-walled low-tolerance stainless steel casing, designed specifically to withstand the physical toll of traveling.

The Travel Decanter was built for two things. Travel, and taste-preservation. A specially-crafted hand-blown decanter holds 500ml of whatever you pour into it, be it a special spirit, or a cocktail of choice. Unlike metal or polymer-based containers, the glass decanter doesn’t alter the taste of the drink within. The result is a truly well-preserved libation that doesn’t have any plastic-y taste or metallic notes. A wide neck on the decanter allows you to easily pour drinks into it, and even add a few ice-cubes of your own, while a stainless steel stopper with a silicone seal ensures your liquids are preserved in a spill-proof, air-tight environment. The decanter then slides into a double-walled stainless steel outer casing that keeps your drink chilled as well as protected from accidental bumps and spills courtesy the butter-fingers that handle our luggage at the airport. The stainless-steel casing screws together to stay securely shut, and opens at the middle to transform into two tumblers to drink from. In fact, there’s even 2oz indicator inside the glass so you know how much to pour, and a subtle design at the base of each tumbler around the rim, for easy gripping. When assembled, the Travel Decanter measures a mere 8.5 inches in height and 3.5 inches in width, slipping easily into suitcases, or even in the bottle-pouch of backpacks.

Calling the Travel Decanter a thermos or a flask would be like calling an iPad a computer. You’d be right in a strictly literal sense, but you’d also lose a lot in translation, because in many ways, the Travel Decanter is a very new category. Its job is preservation no doubt, but for a specific liquid and a scenario that surely demands a product (I don’t have statistics on how many bottles of alcohol break inside suitcases but I imagine it’s enough to be a headache). Ultimately the Travel Decanter helps you carry your favorite spirits with you, especially on business trips where you’d much rather sip on your own alcohol than rely on those incredibly expensive hotel room minibars, or on road-trips and picnics outside the city.

Alexa, meet Jim, the Whiskey Dispenser

With the world going Amazon Alexa crazy, Jim Beam is bringing out their own smart device – JIM, the smart decanter. That’s right, a smart whiskey decanter. It is to be believed the decanter has built-in voice control system which allows the user to command the device to pour a shot of whiskey from across the room. The recordings aren’t a generic voice; they are of Fred Noe, a master distiller at Jim Beam. It may appear as though JIM is somewhat of a gag against the recent worldwide infatuation with smart home products, but that isn’t to say that JIM won’t be as big of a hit. With Christmas just around the corner, I can’t help but think this would be the perfect gift to get that one friend who ‘thinks’ they’re a whiskey guru.

The Beautiful Marilyn Monroe Wine Decanter

You’ve got effective products, and you’ve got effective elegant products. The Eto wine decanter is the latter. Designed to solve a problem, while looking incredibly desirable, the Eto is a rather beautiful looking bottle that preserves opened wine by cutting off air/oxygen contact.

I clearly remember this product I saw on Shark Tank called the Wine Balloon (now called the Air Cork). There’s a distinctly different reaction to when I see it now in 2017, 4 years after its debut. It’s quirky and mildly hilarious, and in hindsight, adding it to an expensive bottle of wine diminishes the pristine visual character of the wine bottle itself. A not-so-elegant solution for something as elegant as a bottle of wine.

The Eto on the other hand was designed to look just as refined and sophisticated as the original bottle of wine itself. Designed using glass, and stainless steel given a mild rose-gold finish, the wine bottle looks incredible when empty, and even more so when full. The choice of color plays wonderfully to both red wines as well as whites. Its half metal, half glass design is devoid of any ugly branding, and gives a view of your wine from the bottom half in a rather iconic Marylin Monroe-esque fashion.

Eto works on a principle of cutting out air flow to the wine completely. Unlike the Air Cork that cuts off a percentage of wine and not all of it, Eto can preserve a newly opened bottle of wine perfectly for weeks with even the most expert wine tasters not being able to tell the difference. Upon opening a bottle of wine, all one has to do is decant it into the Eto and gently press down on the bottle neck as a piston valve lowers itself down till it meets the level of the wine. The Eto can be stored in the fridge to preserve the wine better, and can be directly used to pour out the wine easily, thanks to its glug-proof non-spill opening.

While Eto perfectly preserves wine, what’s good about it is that it doesn’t present itself as an attachment to your wine bottle. It presents itself as a beautiful wine bottle in its own right, which you’ll be more than proud to show off!

Your Star Wars themed bar needs some new drinkware. These cool stormtrooper decanters and shot glasses are going to look damn good in your collection. They’re even based on the original stormtrooper helmet molds created in 1976, so they are 100% screen accurate. Obviously, that’s important when it comes to drinks.
