How modern tech saved my ‘Dragon’s Lair’ arcade game

By Sean Cooper In the early 1980s, the arcade was still the place to play the newest and best video games. Sure, consoles existed, and were just starting to give arcades a run for their money -- and were even starting to shed their wood-grain home-f...

Artist Makes Awesome Pics from Duct Tape

Silence is golden, duct tape is silver… or orange, red, blue, or white. Duct tape can fix just about anything and is one of the best inventions ever. A artist named Rianna from DuctTapeDesigns has created some very cool art using duct tape as the medium.

Rianna does fantastic work and if I couldn’t see the detail showing the tape, I would think these were paintings. Doctor Who fans will immediately recognize the TARDIS and Dalek made from tape. I really like the Iron Man and Batman work. The Dexter one is also a favorite.

I always wonder how long it takes to make art like this. I’ve watched some artists work before and sometimes the process is much faster than you might expect, but these look really complicated. Which of these is your favorite?

What Do Ron Burgundy, Sheriff Rick and Dexter Have in Common? They’re all Minifigs!

Looking to upgrade your LEGO minifig collection with some new characters? Look no further than miniBIGS for their latest custom minifigs made in the likeness of various pop culture icons. For starters, we have this awesome minifig of the mustachioed Ron Burgundy from Anchorman.

I only wish they made tiny versions of Brian, Champ, Veronica Corningstone and of course they need a LEGO Brick. Get it? Oh well, while we wait for those, how about a minifig Dexter Morgan? miniBIGS has got you covered.

The little serial killer sells for $18 and comes complete with a knife, syringe, and even an interchangeable blood slide accessory. With this tiny Dexter in hand, you can act out your own version of the final season that doesn’t suck. And speaking of shows that don’t suck, these Walking Dead minifigs are awesome.

The set includes The Governor, Glenn, Sheriff Rick, and a Riot Gear Zombie. You can buy them individually for $17.50 each, or grab the set of four for $60. While she’s not available from MiniBigs, I’ll let you in on a little secret. I have a Michonne minifig that I picked up at Chicago Comic Con this year, so I need to get The Governor just so I can reenact the scene where she turns him into a Cyclops.

As usual, each miniBIGS figure is made using the same quality printing technique used by LEGO, so they’re designed not to fade or scratch off. Awesome job guys! Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

LG and Showtime join forces to help you contextualize ‘Dexter,’ ‘Ray Donovan’

Oh, engagement, that ever-important holy grail of TV watching. How does a network like Showtime cut through the noise distracting viewers sitting in front of the tube? The cable channel's already offered up Sho Sync on the iPad, to give viewers of show like Dexter supplemental content, and now it's going straight to the source, leveraging LG's LivePlus platform to offer its app on TV sets. The partnership brings the app to the hardware company's 2012 and 2013 line of internet-connected sets, so you can get character backgrounds, trivia and other extra features while you watch. Distracting? Perhaps, but at least it's the show that's distracting you from the show, right? The app works regardless of how you watch the programs --- live, on-demand, DVD, it's all good. There's a press release just after the break for you to engage with.
