Plenty of people are rooting for Apple to release of round smartwatch this year. This design, dubbed the Rope Watch, by Dongwook Yoon explores what we might expect if our shared daydream becomes reality.

The device features a simplified strap design that highlights the new round form. The lasso-style strap is effortlessly attached to the wrist in one swift motion. No buckling, no major adjustment mechanisms – simply choose your size, slip it on, and snap it off. Which would you be more stoked for? The round watch or smart strap? Let us know in the comments!

One Adorable Air Purifier

superL_01

Super L is perhaps the cutest air purifier ever! Its atomic-style legs and slim profile allow it to blend in seamlessly with your other furniture, unlike other unsightly air units.

Designed to be as autonomous as it is aesthetically pleasing, it detects the air quality indoors and makes adjustments on its own to purify and remove pollution. Synced with a smartphone app, it can even detect when the user is on the way home and prepare the air to be extra fresh and clean by the time they arrive!

Press Play for Fresh

Speakers have come a long way from being a big, bulky, black box stuffed in the corner of a room. These days, a well-designed speaker can even enhance a room’s aesthetic. That being said… this is NOT a speaker!

It’s called MINI and it’s actually an indoor air cleaning system… but it does follow in the footsteps of speaker design both aesthetically and functionally! Specifically, surround sound. Depending on the size of your space and your air quality, MINI cleaners can be connected and controlled together via your smartphone or other device. This way, each room in your home is guaranteed to have safe, equally clean air. Each is also equipped with a number of sensors that can relay real-time air quality data directly to your controlling device.

Hands-free toilet business!

grip_bidet_1

I wonder if talking about this design makes me veritable potty-mouth, but tech in the bathroom hasn’t seen much advancement since bathroom-selfies. The Magic is a toilet frame with some true magic in it. It embeds a wide variety of controls that allow you to work the lids and even UV purify the commode without having to touch it anywhere. Everything can be operated from a control panel on the side of the toilet frame. Just don’t forget to make sure you’ve washed your hands before running the controls. Especially if you’re a leftie!

The Magic toilet frame is a winner of the Red Dot design award for the year 2016.

Air that’s perfect to breathe

air_washer_1

Writing about design can sometimes teach you a couple of things. For instance, today’s product is something I’ve encountered for the first time. An Air Washer. Air washers (from what I read up) are basically humidifiers, but they work as dehumidifiers too, and they also purify the air you breathe. Usually placed as a 2-in-1 solution, an Air Washer is perfect for situations where air purity and climate control are paramount.

The Air Washer designed by Dongwook Yoon and Junyoung Hong aims at making a sculpture out of the appliance, given its niche market. Made to fit into the house it belongs in, the product goes for a geometric style, going for a shape that’s a cross between an ellipsoid and a cuboid. The controls on the top are minimal and display-centric. A secondary display on the white body comes alive too, allowing you to know the temperature/humidity level just in case the upper display is out of sight.

I personally love a few of the design choices. The secondary screen shining through the plastic adds quite a wow-element. The overall design does (to me) resemble a laundry hamper, but that’s something I’m willing to overlook, given how clean the product looks otherwise. After all, that’s what a purifier SHOULD embody, right? Cleanliness.

Puny Purifier with a Punch

slim_01

If you want clean drinking water you currently have only a few not-so-ideal options – you can attach a peripheral filter to your faucet but it wears fast and needs replacing far too often, or use a jug-style filter which is bulky and needs constant refilling, or you can have an expensive reverse osmosis system installed. The Slim Sculpture purifier answers all of these questions with a minimalistic approach that takes up only 9cm of counter space and taps directly into your water line! Reduced to only the basic necessary functions, it’s also tankless which makes it more hygienic than the average purifier. It’s compact size and straightforward functionality make it ideal for modern micro-living!
