This cat-centered table design features a cavity and hidden shelf for your pets to perch while you WFH!

Japanese furniture company Dinos designed a table with a center cavity and hidden perching shelf so your cat can poke its head through and spend the workday with you without climbing all over your keyboard.

If there’s one thing cats don’t do, it’s minding their business. Always lurking around the corner to find out which room we’re walking into or hopping onto the table while we’re eating dinner, cats are curious over just about everything–getting them off our tails can sometimes feel like a game of whack-a-mole. Dinos, a Japanese furniture company, took to the game of whack-a-mole and designed a table with a center opening for our cats to poke their heads through and sate their curiosity without dusting their fur all over our meals.

The table designed by Dinos for cat owners is handcrafted by local craftspeople from natural red oak wood to age well over time and remain a place where your cat can perch. The table’s rounded corners are also specially sanded down to ensure safe climbing and jumping for your cat. When you’d like your cats to join you while you work, the table features a center cavity through which they can poke their heads and see what you’re up to. In the center of the table, the craftspeople at Dinos carved a 16cm hole just above a circular shelf where your cat can rest. When your cat isn’t resting on the shelf, it can be used to store items like magazines or even cat toys. The table also comes with a matching lid for the center hole so when you’d like to enjoy your meal away from your cat, you can close the hole and revert the table back to one with a solid surface.

Additionally, Dinos sells accompanying table benches, chairs, and cushions separately for those who would like to have a complete dining set. In addition to all of the benches and chairs, Dinos sells a cat tree that will be sure to entertain your cat while you work or eat at the table.

This geometric cat den because a modern home deserves modern pet furniture!

Furniture for cats tends to lean toward kitschy. Cat furniture can get away with being bright and quirky when you’ve got the living room to match, but most modern living rooms have moved on from shag carpeting and linoleum floors to area rugs and hardwood. Those faux fur cat towers were cute in the ‘70s, but so were carpeted toilet seat covers. South Korea-based Plenilunio Design Agency decided to ditch the shag and created a piece of cat furniture brand fit for the 21st century, calling it Cat Is Art.

Cat Is Art has a simple frame, featuring a rectangular box with a right-hand, round window. The wooden box is mounted onto steel beams that wrap around it to acquire a height similar to that of a mid-rise storage cabinet. Designed for both the cat and cat owner, Cat Is Art’s elemental structure reimagines the ways cat furniture fits into modern homes. The top of the playpen features a storage area with an upright lip that protects any objects from falling down as your cat gets bored and looks for things to knock over. Similarly, smaller cat toys can be stored on Cat Is Art’s top lid so that your cat can play inside the pen and on top of it. Only accessible by your cat, the round porthole on Cat Is Art’s right-hand side is petite and offers an easy escape route for when your cat needs some alone time.

Designed and built for the modern home, Cat Is Art bridges the gap between furniture for cats and furniture for humans. Conceptualized to operate as a playpen for cats as well as a storage area for the home, Cat Is Art strikes a balance between cat-friendly furniture and interior design.

This geometric cat-shelter looks like a minimalist cat-head!

Talk about purrfect design execution! The Catzz kitty-bed is inspired directly by its feline occupant. Designed to be flat-packed, the Catzz is an icosahedral shelter for cats that comes with multiple triangular panels that come together to form the enclosed shelter. The clever bit, however, is the fact that the Catzz bed actually looks like a minimalist cat head, complete with two pointy ears!

Made from individual felt panels, the flat-packed bed can easily be assembled in minutes. When put together, it forms the perfect haven for your kitten, being a combination of robust and sturdy yet fuzzy and comfortable. The Catzz bed even comes with a dangling toy that you can suspend from the bed’s ear (for the cat to periodically play with), and when the bed does get dirty, it can easily be disassembled and machine-washed. Paw-sitively delightful, isn’t it?!

The Catzz Cat Bed is a winner of the A’ Design Award for the year 2020.

The Claw gaming mouse takes inspiration from a vicious jungle-cat’s paw!

Designed for the gamer with cat-like reflexes, the Claw is a feline-paw inspired gaming mouse that amps up the aggression. Angular cuts and sharp claw-like mouse-buttons make the mouse live up to its name… but that’s not all! The Claw’s mouse buttons are retractable, just like a cat’s claws! Designed as an ergonomic feature for people with bigger hands, or who want longer buttons, Claw’s left and right click buttons extend outwards (along with the golden scroll wheel) by as much as 20mm, giving you a mouse that goes from 115 mm long to 135 mm long! Its edgy design, black paint-job, and angular, Black Panther-inspired linear detailing makes me want to scream “Wakanda Forever” every time I play a game with it!
