Flower vases are not an uncommon product in interior spaces, but the majority of them are designed for a single style of flower arrangement. This style often involves a handful of flowers surrounded by rich foliage that create an almost bulbous shape, bringing a splash of color to any area. Of course, that isn’t the only way to arrange flowers, but the standard shape and size of vases put a heavier emphasis on the flowers themselves, using leaves as a background and their stems as invisible scaffolding. Sometimes, however, you can have an even more striking presence with just a single flower and a stem with just a few small branches, and this small metal vase provides not only the support but also the flexibility to embrace that minimalist design, using whatever you may have as the base for such an enchanting floral arrangement.

The Japanese Ikebana style of arranging flowers is almost a stark contrast to what most see on vases. Where typical arrangements bundle a bunch of flowers that are mostly in full bloom, Ikebana might sometimes present a bud that slowly opens up over time, much to the viewer’s delight. Just like with many Japanese designs and philosophies, every aspect of the flower comes from a thoughtful decision, including the length of the stem, the cuts made, or the number of pieces used. A regular tall vase that hides those intentional details, however, isn’t cut for such an arrangement, which is where the HANAKUBARI vase comes in.

Named after the Japanese words for “flower” and “twig,” this small metal barrel looks nothing like a vase. Its size can hold just enough water to keep the flower alive, and its short stature means that it will only cover up a few centimeters of the stems, putting the focus on the minimalist arrangement rather than calling attention to itself. Flower-inspired vases are designed to accentuate the beauty of the flora

There are very few people in the world who don’t appreciate the beauty of flowers. I, for one, am either calmed down or awed when I see beautiful flowers in the wild or even as decorations indoor. I wouldn’t be able to raise them or take care of them on my own, but they’re still very pretty to look at. Accessories that pay tribute to flowers and floral arrangements are also something that appeal to a lot of people so this collection that highlights nine different flowers and uses them to shape the design may be something flower lovers will be interested in.

The name of the collection is simple enough: In Praise of Flowers. The concept is made up of nine different “chapters” and the products range from vases to stands to sculpture-like accessories that can make flowers even more appealing and glorify their natural beauty. The nine flowers that were chosen for this particular “exhibit” are the following: Peony, Lavender, Hydrangea, Asian Orchid, Lily, Tulip, Narcissus, Rose, and Baby’s Breath. These flowers served as the design inspiration for the accessories in the collection.

The Peony or impressionist muse is a vase enclosed in two glass dividers where you can place peonies or any other flowers you want to inside. The fragrant Lavender accessory is a white vase housed in a small dome made up of circular white cups. The majestic Hydrangea looks like a lamp at first glance with what seems like a big mirror that will enhance the flowers that you place in the vase. Or it might be that the round thing has a kaleidoscope-like design of hydrangeas. The Asian Orchid, referred to as exotic, is a stand housed in what seems like an acrylic enclosure with a circular hole to look into the flowers placed inside.

The showstopper Lily is a black clamshell-like vase that is in direct contrast to the colorful flowers you’ll place in it. Since the Tulip is known as a delicate flower, the accessory inspired by it is a minimalist stand where a single piece of flower can be placed in. The Narcissus, which is of course associated with reflections because of mythology, has a stand that will reflect the single stalk of flower that you’ll place in it. The Baby’s Breath has a transparent glass to magnify its beauty. Lastly, the Rose is a flat accessory where you can lay it down like in a bed. This concept seems pretty interesting if you want mostly minimalist vases and stands placed in your space.

When you think of vases, you will most likely imagine a single vessel that is able to hold a bunch of flowers, often with half a dozen stems or so. These tall containers can be made of anything, though ceramic, stone, or metal seem to be the favored materials. Of course, they can actually be made of anything, nor does the concept of a vase dictate that there should be only a single receptacle to hold the stems. There is definitely plenty of room for variety in shapes and design, and this rather unusual vase challenges all those assumptions by using not one, not even two, but seven tubes that may or may not even hold a single stem.

It’s easy not to think of the Bulbous Lotus as anything other than a vase if there aren’t stems sticking out of it. Metal pipes of various heights often conjure up images of musical instruments instead of something like a utilitarian container. Perhaps that is a fitting association, considering how this unique vase produces a melody of a different kind, one that sings of the beauty of nature and the artistry of humans.

The vase is made of two parts, both independent of each other and both beautiful in their own right. The circular base is made of wood, either oak or walnut, and provides the stability that the vase needs, ensuring it stays standing, no matter how large the flowers above might be. It also has holes into which the copper tubes are inserted in your preferred arrangement. After all, there is no hard rule that these cylinders be arranged in a specific order.

Transparent vases create an optical illusion of colors stretching into nothingness

It is probably too easy to take vases for granted since they’re meant to hold the flowers that are supposed to grab your attention. Of course, the right combination of a beautiful flower arrangement and an equally eye-catching vase can have a stronger impact than just one or the other. And when it comes to being eye-catching, there is probably nothing better than an invisible vase, or at least one that seems to disappear and reappear out of thin air. Thanks to the seemingly magical play of colors, materials, and shapes, this vase collection takes center stage by deceiving your brains into thinking that parts of its form have stretched so far to the point of disappearing completely.

Pliable materials have the tendency to grow thinner the more you stretch them, as one can easily see with rubber, clay, or dough. As these stretched sections become thinner, they also have a tendency to become paler, presuming they have some distinct color, to begin with. In the real world, these stretched objects will break at some point, but fantasy might make us think that these parts can instead become invisible and disappear.

This is exactly the kind of fantasy illusion that the Stretch Color vase collection generates in our minds. The mysterious shapes of these crystalline vases are meant to reflect its designer’s “obsession with the color of the reconstruction space,” and its illusion works on multiple levels beyond its disappearing act. Depending on the angle you’re viewing it, the vase could sometimes look like a 2D planar art painting or sometimes a 3D sculptural artwork. It’s almost as if the vases were designed to confound the mind with both their beauty as well as their conflicting visual signals.

The vases come in three forms, two of which seem to bend and stretch near the middle but have full color at both ends. Perhaps the most visually perplexing member of the trio is the vase whose form ends where its color disappears, strengthening the illusion of stretching to the point of becoming nothing. The vases are, in a way, also testaments to sophisticated manufacturing processes considering how they also defy conventional shapes and color patterns.

Of course, with vases like these, it’s almost a shame to have them filled with flowers that take the attention away from their mesmerizing forms. They do force a sense of minimalism by making you pick simpler flowers and arrangements that truly bring out the vase’s beauty, not to mention further trick your mind into wondering how the flowers or parts of the vase manage to stay afloat despite the missing parts.

Realistic Heart Flower Vase: Love In Bloom

The Love In Bloom porcelain flower vase is shaped like a realistic human heart, complete with ventricles, atria, and arteries. Made by Seletti and available on Amazon (affiliate link), the heart measures approximately 4″ x 7″ x 10″, making it bigger than mine, and significantly larger than the Grinch’s. That’s something. Something I’m not 100% convinced I want sitting on the foyer table to great me when I come home. An ice cream cake, absolutely.

The heart features multiple vein and artery holes to place stems in to create a beautiful, albeit somewhat macabre display. I can’t tell if my wife would think it was sweet or think I was weird if I gave her one. I guess there’s only one way to find out! One I’m still not sure I’m willing to pay for to find out.

Hey, different strokes for different folks. Maybe you’re in desperate need of a realistic heart flower vase, I’m not here to judge. I’m just here to…wait, what am I here for? God – I demand answers!

Blooming Product is a speaker vase and a flower subscription service to beautify your home

Most of the time, I would like my speakers to look like actual speakers. But there are also times when I want them to be part of my living room decorations and not stand out so much. I’d want the smart speaker to still do what it needs to do like play music and answer my questions but also be either decorative or hidden in plain sight. This product concept can do both and maybe a bit more as it’s a speaker, a vase, and also gives you a flower subscription.

The Blooming Product line is supposed to make ordinary things more important to us instead of being just forgotten or neglected even if they’re just there in front of us. The first in the concept product line is a vase that doubles as a speaker or a speaker that doubles as a vase, depending on how you look at it. It looks like a vase with a charging base and from the product renders, you can actually put water in it to keep flowers fresh. I don’t know how that will work in terms of water and electricity though.

What makes the concept of Blooming Product even more special is that it comes with a flower subscription service. This means that you’ll get fresh flowers every month or season so you’ll be able to replace the flowers in the speaker vase every once in a while. Just like with other subscription services, you won’t know what kind of flowers you’ll be receiving so every box that comes in will be a surprise which is good news for those that love surprises.

Since you’re getting fresh flowers every so often, this also means that you’ll be continuously “caring” for your speaker. Although if you use it often for listening to music or as a smart assistant, then you probably are not “neglecting” it anyway. But at least you get to empty the water out and then arrange the flowers that you receive to your liking and in the process, check on your speaker as well.

Design-wise, the vase speaker isn’t something extraordinary but it’s most likely the flowers that will give it the extra factor. I’m not that great when it comes to taking care of living things, including flowers, so I’m not sure if this is something I’d actually want. But for those with green thumbs or those that want to regularly have flowers in their home, then the Blooming Product may be something to appeal to you.

The Bauhaus school of design inspires the striking stained glass colors and geometric shapes of these vases!

Trio is a collection of three stained glass vases inspired by the Bauhaus school of art and design to bring a timeless edge to the traditional glass vase.

Finding the perfect vase for flowers is sometimes the most fun when arranging bouquets. Bunchier flowers deserve a bulkier, more bulbous vase. While more delicate flower arrangements could use a skinny, minimalist vase. You know the right vase when you see it.

Vases also carry a long, intricate history in ceramics and glass-making that dates back centuries. Taking notes from one historical art school of design, Bauhaus, Ashley Case designed three different vases in its style to accommodate all types of flower arrangements and create a collection called Trio.

Case’s study on Bauhaus design took shape in the art school’s commitment to simplicity, bold colors, and geometric lines. All three vases are molded from sturdy stained glass that creates shadows of color when natural light pours through them. The first vase, a deep cobalt blue, forms three-quarters of a circle and suspends in midair from a black steel cradle that entirely surrounds the vase.

Then, a vertical, rectangular vase coated in lemon yellow stained glass remains in place inside of a four-bar black steel crate. Finally, an inverted triangular vase dipped in scarlet red balances above an empty platform inside a similar black steel crate. All three vases are undoubtedly inspired by Bauhaus design, an art school devoted to integrating a timelessly modern look into any era.

The Bauhaus school of design came to life in 1919, following geometric and abstract styles of design that feature little to no emotion and personality. Instead, the school encourages a timeless look that nods to no cultural or historical aspect in particular. Ashley Case’s collection of vases called Trio embodies Bauhaus through their minimal profiles and strikingly colorful displays that create dazzling shadows of light color to hearken back to the art school’s heyday.

Cleverly designed book opens into a pop-up vase for flowers!

Books and flowers are arguably the two biggest must-haves when it comes to table decor… so what happens when you combine the two together? Meet the ‘Flowery Tale’, a visual portmanteau by Japan-based design brand Mecli. The Flowery Tale comes designed to outwardly look like a book, but open it up and it turns into a 3D vase made out of the book’s specially-cut pages. When opened, the hard-bound book’s spine provides ample negative space to slide a test tube through, and there you have it, a ‘paper’ vase with flowers blooming through! I mean, this is just MADE for Instagram!

The Flowery Tale comes with three different vase designs (cutouts, to be precise) built into the same book. With thick partitions separating them, you can simply open up the book to any vase design you want, and the cut-out pages give you the visual gestalt of continuity, resembling a vase made out of paper. The vases are designed to be inverted too, so while each book comes with 3 vase designs, they can be flipped over resulting in as many as 6 different visual styles to go with your flowers. The test-tube comes with a stopper that allows it to rest on the top of the book without sliding through, and the Flowery Tale’s pages are waterproof, so a little splash of water won’t do them any harm!
