Gameloft Teams Up with SpotX to Serve Video Ads Programatically

Gameloft SpotX

The most downloaded mobile game publisher on iOS and Android in 2015 has joined hands with video inventory management platform SpotX to sell targeted video ads to its audiences from all around the world.

Gameloft Advertising Solutions deep first-party data will be corroborated with SpotX’s ad server to allow advertisers to target campaigns at a granular level. With a month audience of 173 million unique users, an inventory of 10 billion impressions, and a market spread over 100 countries, Gameloft can become a force to be reckoned with in advertising, especially if the ads it serves will be tailored to match each user. Gameloft Advertising Solutions will also get to review the video ads before serving them, in order to make sure that the creative is brand appropriate, since not only adults, but also a lot of children play Asphalt, Order & Chaos, Modern Combat and Dragon Mania Legends. Needless to say, the publisher’s portfolio expands way beyond these titles.

“This partnership will allow us to simplify the purchasing process for our inventory and allow chosen buyers to take advantage of a premium advertising space in over 100 countries where Gameloft distributes its games,” said Gonzague De Vallois, Senior Vice President Publishing at Gameloft.

“Advertising in the gaming space has undergone an enormous transformation,” added Daniel Rowlands, Director of Supply, APAC, at SpotX. “Gaming has become a premium video ad space, thanks to high viewability and engagement rates. Gaming apps are in high demand from advertisers because of strong performance across brand building and cost-per-acquisition campaigns, driving CPMs up. Programmatic technology enables full transparency and control over brand safety, as well as the ability to target Gameloft’s diverse audiences at a granular level.”

In other news, the game publisher has opened a new office in Nigeria, thus reinforcing its business presence in Africa. Gameloft has been present on that continent since 2012, when it opened an office in Johannesburg, and the 536% revenue increase it experienced over the last four years determined it to continue its expansion.

“The opening of a new trade office in Africa will allow us to take advantage of the considerable potential of a market that already includes more than 367 million users,” noted Vincent Brezillon, Gameloft’s Sales Director Africa. “The success that we’ve experienced since the opening of our Johannesburg office, and surging sales in Africa over the last two years, completely justify the opening of a subsidiary in Nigeria, which is Africa’s strongest economy. In addition, this presence will facilitate interactions with our current and future local partners.”

With support from such mobile operators as MTN, Orange, Vodafone, Safaricom, Ooredoo, and Etisalat, it’s no wonder that Gameloft is present in many African countries including South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, and Algeria. The company will soon increase the number of strategic partners in an attempt to enter more markets including Ethiopia and Tanzania.

Gameloft Brings Two Big Franchises to the New Apple TV

Gameloft Dragon Mania Legends Apple TV

Gameloft, one of the most important social game developers and publishers in the world, has announced that two of its most successful titles are coming to the new Apple TV.

When the French digital publisher isn’t busy taking home awards for the Asphalt racing video game series, it focuses on such entertaining titles such as the dragon breeding combat mobile game Dragon Mania Legends, or the mobile hack and slash RPG Dragon Hunter 5. Both of these were launched in 2015, so Apple TV users won’t be able to complain about not getting fresh content. Besides that, when Gameloft made this announcement, it referred to these as two of its biggest franchises, but after glancing at its catalogue, it would be really difficult for anyone to pick the smallest ones.

Dragon Mania Legends is said to be the most adventurous dragon-raising and battling game, and the fact that it moves from smartphone and tablet displays to large TV screens can only be a good thing. There’s no doubt that the game is a lot more immersive when being played on a large display. Of course, it would be even more so if VR were included in the mix, in some way or another. On top of that, there’s also more interaction now, as gamers can now pet their dragons using the Siri Remote, something that definitely wouldn’t have been possible on the other platforms.

Dungeon Hunter 5, on the other hand, is a very intense hack n’ slash RPG with some really impressive graphics that will only look better on a larger display. Provided the performance of the Apple TV, correlated with the large television sets this set top box gets connected to, Dungeon Hunter 5 will literally enter a new dimension. While simpler games, such as the aforementioned Dragon Mania Legends, can be played without any problems using nothing more than just the Siri Remote, you might be more comfortable using a gamepad for more complex games, like this one. Apple actually recommends getting the SteelSeries Nimbus wireless gaming controller, which can be bought for $49.95 on Apple’s website, in case you forgot to bundle one with your Apple TV at the moment of purchase. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to find this one (or for that matter any Apple TV products) on Amazon, as the Seattle-based e-tailer promised a few months ago to pull off these products and kept its word.

Both Dragon Mania Legends and Dungeon Hunter 5 can be downloaded for free from Apple TV’s App Store right away, so gamers who are anxious to try their dragon-raising or monster slashing won’t have to wait patiently for the games to be released on this platform. Gameloft is even working on a complete catalog covering all game genres for Apple TV, so gamers who have an affinity for this platform will definitely get their share of entertainment.

Gameloft release game compatibility patches for Apple Watch

Gameloft Apple Watch 1

The Gameloft team, one of the biggest and most dedicated content developers for mobile market announced that four of their games will be able to interact with the Apple Watch.

Smartwatches will do more than enhancing our fitness experience, if the Gameloft team has a say in it. The company is mainly known for their video games for the mobile market, but now they announced that their latest offerings would also be compatible with the Apple Watch, Apple’s latest gadget.

The compatible games so far are Asphalt 8: Airborne, Dragon Mania Legends, Modern Combat 5: Blackout and Brothers in Arms 3: Sons of War. Once updated to their latest version they will be able to interact and perform receiving commands straight from Smart Watches especially designed to make gameplay deeper.

Now, users playing from their iPhones will be able to perform actions via their Apple Watch and do things like change a characters equipment, browse their inventories, receive notifications and updates, follow the in-game progress, and gather resources – which ironically is what smartphones in general do with console and PC games, act as a second screen of sorts. Are we in the dawn of a new age, where mobile games will get progressively deeper?

Gameloft and Amiga Games to release 56 titles on Windows 8, WP8 before 2014

Sure, Microsoft's battle for next-gen supremacy starts in November, but those who lean on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 for their gaming just got a little something to look forward to. Before the year's up, you can expect to see Asphalt 8: Airborne, Despicable Me: Minion Rush, Dungeon Hunter 4, Six Guns, Total Conquest and UNO & Friends, with the remaining games breaking cover next year. The recently-acquired Amiga Games will churn out 50 titles of its own onto Microsoft's desktop and mobile OS before year's end, and could bump the total up to 500 afterwards. Details on which games we'll see first weren't divulged, but the outfit says they'll make use of the operating system's features such as live tiles and Snap and Share, as well as cross-platform data sharing. Tango launches social platform SDK, brings its chat layer to other apps

Tango builds a social platform SDK, adds chat to Gameloft titles and more

Tango has wanted to expand beyond the basics of multi-platform messaging for awhile, going so far as to add games within its own app. It now wants to become the social glue for just about everyone: it's launching a platform for other apps. The new SDK both integrates Tango chat into titles and make its easy to send app invitations to anyone using Tango, with leaderboards when games are involved. The company has garnered some early support from developers like Bubble Gum Interactive and Gameloft, which plan to release Tango-aware iOS versions of Jetpack Jinx and Candy Block Breaker in the near future. Android users will have to wait until July to get their shot at these two games, but developers who want more sociable apps can apply to use the SDK today.

Gameloft cuts many game prices to 99 cents, wants screen time on your gift phone

Gameloft cuts many game prices to 99 cents, wants screen time on your gift phone

More than a few of us are getting phones and tablets as gifts this year, and Gameloft wants to be there the moment we're hunting for new apps to feed our devices. Accordingly, the developer has slashed the price on many of its recent games to 99 cents during the holidays, even including better-known titles like Asphalt 7 and Dark Knight Rises. Not surprisingly, the discounting doesn't include Modern Combat 4 and a few other releases -- there have to be profit-makers left somewhere, after all -- but it's a huge break for those who want a few starter titles and aren't concerned about always having the latest and greatest. Both Android and iOS gamers can splurge at the source links.

Gameloft announces its first Unreal Engine game, you figure out what it is

Gameloft announces first Android Unreal Engine game, you figure out what it is

Parisian gaming company Gameloft has pulled the wraps off its first Unreal Engine Android game, but is being rather coy about what it actually is. The teaser image -- which was released on the company's Facebook page -- reveals little more than a bloody sword and skull along with a cryptic message, saying that a clue was hidden in the artwork. Viewers were also invited to vote for the next hint, which will either be another image or a YouTube teaser trailer. Whether the macabre-looking game itself will create as much suspense as its marketing tease remains to be seen.

Update: Some sources have reported the platform as Android, but that has not been officially announced.
