LEGO Star Lord Helmet-shaped pen stand comes right at the heels of the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie

Launched just a week before the new Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 drops, this adorably functional build from LEGO also doubles up as a stationery holder and pen stand for your desk. The iconic headgear sits on a platform with a label underneath, measuring 7 inches in height and comprising 602 pieces. Even with as few bricks as that, the helmet looks impressively similar to the original, with everything from those red-tinted eyepieces to the valves on the face mask that helps Peter Quill breathe in outer space.

Designer: LEGO

The Star Lord Helmet is suitable for all ages above 18, keeping somewhat in line with the movie’s adult rating too. The helmet forms a part of LEGO’s existing Infinity Saga series, which also includes Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet, among other Marvel Cinematic Universe objects and characters. The building process is quick and incredibly satisfying, and at the end, you’re left with a finished product that not only serves as a collectible, but also as a functional device, helping you store things inside the helmet’s hollow space, including stationery, cables, or even EDC like your AirPods.

Aside from building the Star Lord Helmet in real life, you can build it in 3D on the LEGO builder app too, helping you visually understand which pieces go where, and track your progress as you follow the virtual building instructions. Once over, you can even rotate the 3D build to examine it from every angle, comparing it to your own DIY LEGO construction.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 hits theaters on May 5th, 2023.

Groot Ceramic Mug: I Am Drink!

It may still be a while before we see an adult Groot on screen again, but you can commemorate the life of Guardians of the Galaxy’s savior every time you take a sip of coffee with this excellent Groot ceramic mug.

Ceramic artist Cerapost crafts these intricately detailed and textured mugs which look like our favorite talking tree. Every detail is there, from his spiky wooden hairdo to his beady little black eyes.

Each mug holds 500ml (about 16.9 oz) of your favorite beverage, and the artist says its both microwave and dishwasher safe. Though I’d have a hard time putting a handmade $100 mug in either of those places for fear of something bad happening like what happened to the actual Groot. Better to handwash, if you ask me, because I’m pretty sure if you crack this thing, it’s not coming back to life as a Baby Groot mug.

Baby Groot Flower Pot Takes Root

Few things in this universe are as cute as Baby Groot, and luckily for all of us, we got to see a lot of him in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Sadly, Groot will be a bit older by the time the next movie comes out. Kids. they grow up so fast. Especially movie kids. Especially movie kids who are trees. But that’s okay, because no matter how big Groot gets, we still have all of the neat Baby Groot merchandise. Like this Baby Groot Flower Pot.

You can use the 7″ tall pot to hold a small plant or as a desk organizer to hold pencils. No matter how you use it, you get to look at Baby Groot and say, “awwww.” I would use it as a planter, because that’s what the little guy would want. After all, he can grow flowers on his body. Or just use him as he is for a decoration, because he is completely adorable.

It gives you all of the benefits of having Baby Groot around with none of the responsibilities. Because as we’ve seen from GOTG, it’s not easy to raising this little guy. Just ask Rocket Raccoon about that.

IAMA Groot Woodgrain Watch Contains No Actual Groot

We all know that Groot is pretty darned awesome. After all he’s able to communicate a million things with the simple phrase “I am Groot,” and he also sacrificed himself to save all of his friends in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. And Baby Groot, well, he’s just adorbs.

Now, you can carry Groot wherever you go with this cool wristwatch.

The IAMA Groot Watch has a neat woodgrain look to it, and Groot’s face is featured prominently on its dial. From what I can tell, it’s not made from actual wood like some watches, but at least that rules out the possibility that it was made from one of Groot’s actual branches. But that also means it won’t regenerate if you break it, so wear it with care. I like the leafy green hands and second counter around the dial too, along with the woodgrain embossing on the strap too.

You can grab your own IAMA Groot Watch from ThinkGeek for just $29.99(USD). Or in other words, “I AM GROOT.”

Baby Groot Phunny Plush Doesn’t Dance

I like Guardians of the Galaxy, and thought Volume 2 was pretty cool too. As with the first movie, Groot pretty much stole the show for me. Baby Groot obliviously dancing away as the opening battle sequence rages was one of my favorite parts. This plush Phunny collectible from Kidrobot will be perfect for any Guardians fan who wants to bring Baby Groot home.

He’s soft, cute, and has green sprouts coming out of it at various. I have no idea how large the plush is – no dimensions were provided. Entertainment Earth has the plush for $11.99(USD), and it’s available now.

I’d really like to know more of Groot’s back story. Is there an entire planet of sentient trees who like to dance out there? Do they all only say one phrase?

Baby Groot Cutting Board: Guardians of the Countertop

Ever since we went and saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, my daughter is all about Baby Groot. He’s apparently the most adorable thing ever. If you feel the same way, you might want this Baby Groot wooden cutting board.

This 15″ x 11.25″ cutting board looks like Baby Groot’s head. They should have put a tiny body on it, it would have been awesomer then. At least it won’t cram growing twigs up your nose.

You can’t put it in the dishwasher or in the microwave, but what sort of lunatic microwaves cutting boards anyhow. I’m never sure if you should cut chicken on wooden things with pores unless you want salmonella, because that is how you get salmonella. Get one on ThinkGeek for $19.99 (USD).

Baby Grootcake Is Way Better than a Baby Fruitcake

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is officially out in theaters and it is sweet! You know what else is sweet? This adorable Baby Groot cake. And you can make one for yourself if you want thanks to the video tutorial.

Zoe’s Fancy Cakes created this awesome cake and I love how it looks so real. Those eyes! He looks like he is about to shout “I am Groot!” If you have decent baking skills you can probably make one too, but it probably won’t look as nice as Zoe’s. After all, she’s a professional pastry chef.

This is the perfect cake for any Guardians of the Galaxy viewing party. It would definitely impress your friends and is sure to be a delicious treat.

Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot Cherry Piescraper

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is hitting theaters this week, and to celebrate, Jessica Leigh Clark-Bojin of Pies Are Awesome created another awesome piescraper. This time, we’ve got one featuring Rocket Raccoon, Baby Groot, and lots of cherry filling.

You can learn how to make one for yourself in the video here. Seems like it would be a fun project and it doesn’t look too hard as long as you have some experience baking pies.

I love how it turned out in the end – it looks like some ancient religious artifact. I picture the team leaving this behind on an alien world and a primitive culture finding it and worshipping them.

Guardians of the Galaxy Doritos Bag Gets a Teardown

A bag of Doritos and some good tunes. That’s all you need really. That’s a good night in my book. Doritos has combined both in the Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 2 promotional MP3 bag. Naturally, since it’s got electronics inside, so somebody had to do a teardown. The fine folks over at Engadget have got us covered.

This special edition bag came out and people paid 30 bucks to their get their hands on one. Engadget tore into the bag to see what was inside. Not surprisingly, it’s a pretty boring teardown. It is basically a cheap, exposed circuit board sandwiched between two pieces of foam. Apparently, it sounds pretty crummy too, but on the plus side, you can jack in the media player’s USB port to your computer and download the soundtrack as high quality, DRM-free MP3 files, recorded at an impressive 320kbps.

The Doritos and the music are the real reward. If you bought one, just eat up and enjoy the tunes. Or hide it away in a closet hoping it will be a collector’s item.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Cutting Board Vol. 2

If you like to eat, at some point you are going to need to cut stuff up. You could use your knife right on the countertop, but then your wife will gripe at you about annoying stuff like germs and nicks on the counter. What you need to avoid getting yelled at and to cut up that perfectly cooked steak is a cutting board.

You could get a lame plastic one down at Walmart or you can get the Awesome Mix Vol. 2 cutting board, courtesy of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy merchandising folks.

This thing measures 12″ x 8″  and is made from glass, so it’s heat resistant up to 350-degrees, and won’t retain germs.  It will let you slice and dice like Star-Lord probably would if Marvel heroes ever ate other than in post-credit scenes. You can get one on ThinkGeek for $14.99(USD).
