This advanced e-bike helmet delivers full-head protection that looks and feels great, too

E-bikes, electric scooters, one-wheelers, and e-skates have become options for people who want a different and more sustainable way to travel. While e-scooters make short work of “last mile” distances, e-bikes combine foot and motor powers to give you a longer and faster ride. But for all the convenience and freedom they offer, e-bikes also bring new challenges, especially when it comes to rider safety. Typical cycling helmets are no longer enough to provide needed protection, but motorcycle helmets are also overkill and burdensome for a vehicle that’s supposed to embody agility. The answer is to combine the best of both worlds, providing the same full-head safety of motorcycle helmets with the lightweight comfort of cycling helmets. Pulling that off is no easy feat, but that is exactly what this innovative eBike helmet is bringing to the table, promising safe biking, comfortable rides, and eye-catching good looks in a single package.

Bike helmets are designed to be lighter than their motorcycle cousins because of the need for better aerodynamics and lesser fatigue on the head of cyclists. They offer only the minimum protection possible, which is often enough, at least compared to accidents involving motorbikes. E-bikes, however, are changing the equation because of their significantly increased speeds and use on riskier roads and paths. You can’t simply put on a motorcycle helmet and call it a day because of the different dynamics required by e-bikes. Not to mention you’re going to be the target of strange looks while pedaling down a bike lane.

Designed for Safety and High Speeds.

Integrated Full Facial Protection

Detachable Swiveling Visor: The front visor is held in place by two fasteners on the front of the helmet and features changeable lenses.

Removable LED Tail Light

VIRGO is the solution that brings the benefits of both kinds of helmets with none of their drawbacks. Made with a polycarbonate shell on the outside and a protective EPS (expanded polystyrene) layer on the inside, this helmet designed for e-bikes retains the lightweight and comfortable properties of regular bike helmets. The difference, however, is that this single shell also covers your chin and jaw, giving you full-face protection like a motorcycle helmet.

Mips Safety System

Optimization of Air Flow

The VIRGO helmet was made to meet the requirements of regulations like the new NTA-8776 for e-bikes, which means that this helmet is certified to handle speeds up to 45 mph. Even better, it also complies with the EN 1078/CPSC, which means it’s qualified for use with regular, old-fashioned bikes as well. And when unfortunate accidents do happen, the optional inner MIPS system helps reduce the rotational motion of most impacts that is the cause of most concussions and brain-related injuries.

The safety goodness doesn’t stop there either. VIRGO comes with a detachable swivel visor that protects your eyes from both sunlight glare as well as blinding dust. The visor lens will be polished and rounded on the corners, just like how it’s made on various helmets in the market. There’s also a detachable LED light whose simple appearance belies its smartness. Its built-in accelerometer can detect when you’re slowing down and lights up to give vehicles behind you a heads-up. It also glows red in low-light situations to increase your visibility and avoid accidents before they even happen.

The VIRGO helmet comes in a handsome design with four stylish colors to choose from, letting it match your style instead of getting in the way. And best of all, all of this safety comes at a very affordable price of $99, or $129 if you opt to go with the inner MIPS system. Whether you’re biking for fun or for daily commutes, on your powerful e-bike, or even on your trusty old metal steed, the VIRGO Cycling Helmet gives you the full-head protection you need to bike in confidence and in style.

The Safest Helmet for E-Bikes” is a Game-Changer with Full Face Protection for High-Speed Electric Commuters

A few years ago, I met with a pretty severe road accident that had my jaw broken in two places and most of my teeth shattered. The reality was, I was on a scooter, driving at barely 25mph… and the vehicle in front of me suddenly braked, causing me to scrape its side and fall over. I was wearing a half-helmet that left my jaw exposed, and because I had the weight of a pretty hefty laptop bag on my back, I fell forward with quite a bit of force. A full-face helmet would have probably saved my jaw from impact, and saved me trips to the hospital and the dentist for the following eleven years.

Most bicycles and e-bikes don’t come with a full-face helmet enforcement. For vehicles that barely touch 30mph, the idea of having a severe accident seems low… but not entirely absent. You could be like me, just falling awkwardly, or like nearly 41,000 bicyclists who die globally because of other fast-moving vehicles on the road. Most bicycle helmets don’t come with a jaw-guard… and it’s something the folks at Paris-based THE BEAM are hoping to change, in collaboration with VIRGOMOVE for what is now their 9th Kickstarter.

Having gotten that morbid cautionary life tale out of the way, here’s a look at a sleek e-bike helmet that also prioritizes complete head safety. Meet VIRGO – it gives you the safety of a motorcycle helmet, in the lightweight, comfortable form factor of a bicycle helmet. Given that e-bikes, e-scooters, hoverboards, and other personal vehicles are all helping us commute faster, regular bicycle helmets just won’t cut it. Designed for the new age of new electrified commuting, the VIRGO is lightweight, durable, advanced, and offers all-round facial protection, especially with its jaw-bar that protects your lower face from any impact.

Designed for Safety and High Speeds.

Integrated Full Facial Protection

Detachable Swiveling Visor: The front visor is held in place by two fasteners on the front of the helmet and features changeable lenses.

Removable LED Tail Light

The VIRGO’s design is truly unique, combining the best parts of a bicycle helmet with an MTB helmet. It’s sleek, weighs a mere 600 grams (21 ounces), and is designed around the new European regulation NTA-8776, made for high speeds up to 45 km/h (28 mp/h) while also complying with regular bike regulations EN 1078/CPSC. It comes with a hard-shell polycarbonate outer layer, with an ABS inner shell and MIPS tech on the inside to keep your skull protected on impact. A jaw-bar protects your chin, snap-on visors let you protect your eyes in harsh sunlight, and a snap-on LED light module at the back lets people behind you notice you in the dark.

Mips Safety System

Optimization of Air Flow

The VIRGO’s design borrows a lot from the high-end bicycle helmet. It encircles your head with an impact-resistant polycarbonate shell, underneath which sits a MIPS system that protects your head from rotational impact. The headgear comes with as many as 9 air-vents, increasing breathability while you ride, and an adjustable fit thanks to a rotatable knob that lets the helmet conform around your head.

However, it has a few standout features that set it apart from your conventional bike helmet, starting with that jaw bar, which is sleek, but provides just the right amount of impact protection to save your chin and lower jaw if you were to fall face-first, like me. The VIRGO helmet also comes with snap-on rotating visors that attach magnetically, letting you cut the glare in the daylight or just prevent any dust from getting into your eyes, and a snap-on taillight that sits on the back of your helmet. Powered by an accelerometer that can detect your movement, the LED taillight glows red when you’re slowing down, to let people behind you know to slow down too. In low-light conditions, the red glow helps other riders, drivers, and even passengers know that you’re in their vicinity, promoting awareness and preventing a collision.

Each VIRGO helmet comes in three sizes, fitting a variety of head shapes, and four colors to choose from. The helmets start at an affordable $99, or $129 if you opt for the inner MIPS system. You also get the detachable visor and taillight with your pledge, and your entire kit delivers globally, starting August 2023.

This cyberpunk motorcycle helmet comes with safety features like a 360° light, intercom, and safety beacon

The most advanced and interconnected riding helmet we’ve ever seen.

The purpose of a helmet has always been protection, and to some extent prevention as well. Helmets cover critical parts of your head and face, provide ventilation, and sometimes even have reflective panels (or lights) that help prevent accidents in low-light conditions. TALI CONNECTED’s iT-C helmet, however, does MUCH more. Just as the way the smartphone revolutionized the cell phone, giving it more than just call and text functionality, iT-C does the same for helmets. It’s designed to protect you, but also to enhance your driving experience and increase overall safety. To name just a few features of this bad boy, the iT-C features carbon fiber construction, 360° LED lights that also include an automatic brake light, turn signals and a rotating beacon. An accelerometer and gyroscope built into the safety beacon, can help identify if you’ve had an accident and alert local emergency services, with a 100 dB alarm to alert people to your presence. The iT-C also has its own communication system that lets you use the helmet’s built-in intercom to talk to other riders or access your phone’s voice AI on a whim. A GPS tracker helps record rides and times, while alerting you if your bike or helmet is about to be stolen… and the icing on the cake: the waterproof, damage-resistant helmet comes with a USB-C charging port, but more impressively enough, also has its own wireless charging station, giving you a place to put your helmet after a long, exhilarating ride!

Designer: TALI

The iT-C sets a new standard for smart helmets with its myriad of features. It is DOT and ECE 22.06 certified. Clearly designed for people who are passionate about their riding gear, the helmet’s features can be categorized into 4 areas: style/comfort, safety, connectivity and data logging. The helmet is clearly designed to look like a state-of-the-art piece of equipment. It’s aerodynamic, made from carbon fiber, and has a pretty nifty ventilation system to keep your head cool while you ride. Up front is a photochromic visor that becomes tinted during the day and transparent in low light, and speaking of light, LEDs wrapped around the periphery of the helmet allow you to create a literal halo around your head and even choose the exact color you want from the TALI Ride app.

High Quality Intercom – The integrated Bluetooth 5.0 with speakers and microphone HD sound allows you to enjoy voice commands, automatic voice reductions, music, calls and to connect with other passengers or several bikers with a signal range more than 1 mile.

Custom Color LEDs – Customize with your favorite colors.

Smart Assistant Voice Control – The hands-free voice control allows riders to easily access music, phone calls, the weather forecast and smart assistants (Alexa, Google Home & Siri) via Bluetooth 5.0.

Anti-theft and Alerts – When a suspicious movement is detected on your motorcycle, our mobile application notifies you via message or call. You have the option to stop the alarm or call the police.

i-Emergency – When an emergency or fall is detected, the app will notify three of your chosen loved ones and emergency services if needed.

When it comes to safety, iT-C’s approach to protecting you is as holistic as it gets. The carbon fiber construction itself is resistant to damage and the lights on the helmet allow others to see you no matter what. The back of the iT-C has a larger light panel with integrated turn signals that you can toggle remotely, letting people know where you’re headed, and a brake light connected to an accelerometer automatically activates if the helmet detects you’re slowing down. down or braking, immediately notifying riders behind you. While the iT-C can’t entirely prevent accidents (nothing really can), it goes above and beyond to help you stay safe in spite of them. The safety beacon’s built-in gyroscope and accelerometer, which is connected to the helmet via Bluetooth, can also detect collisions and if you’ve fallen, and an e-SIM running LTE-M in the safety beacon will automatically alert emergency services (a feature that TALI says will work in 190 countries) as well as 3 emergency contacts you program into the TALI app. Meanwhile, the helmet also comes with a separate security tag that you can install in your bike, which has its own 100 dB alarm to protect your bike from theft.

The iT-C Smart helmet has its own sophisticated intercom system that allows you to converse with other riders over distances of up to a mile. Equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, the smart helmet interfaces with other passengers and cyclists, allowing you to send and receive messages over a long distance while riding. Got a question or doubt about your ride? Well, you can also talk to your phone’s native voice AI, asking questions such as the nearest gas station or the weather in the next town. Voice AI can also be invoked to read messages, play music, and even make/accept phone calls via your smartphone.

The headset experience is further enhanced by the TALI Ride app. The app connects to your helmet as well as your motorcycle’s safety beacon, working in multiple ways. For starters, it lets you know the location of your bike at all times and if it detects an attempted theft (or if your bike is about to be towed), the audible alarm goes off, while you receive an alert on your phone. The app also features a “race mode” that allows you to track routes, performance, timing, other stats that may be important to a certain group of riders, and even allows you to connect with other riders in the TALI community base. If that wasn’t enough, the app will even sometimes remind you to have your bike serviced, a feature I’m pretty confident no smart helmet can claim to provide!

Currently priced at a 42% discount off €999 ($1021 USD), the iT-C kit comes with the helmet itself, the security beacon, the intercom system, a wireless charging base and a photochromic visor. You can grab the helmet in 3 colors – matte black, glossy black and glossy black + white, while the TALI Ride app is free to install and is available on iOS and Android devices.

Relee M1 AI Sports Helmet makes you feel like Iron Man while keeping you safe

We might still be decades away from a snazzy Iron Man suit, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get started today with this hi-tech sports helmet.

With outdoor activities becoming a thing again, people are more eager than ever to get back on their bikes and boards and hit the road. The need for safety in any outdoor activity has never changed, but the ways we can make it more efficient and more enjoyable have definitely leveled up in the past years. Inspired by both advancements in technology as well as a bit of fantasy, some helmets have evolved to become not only safer but also smarter, though sometimes with some catches and limitations. Relee, however, is trying to do magic with its Magician M1, an all-in-one AI-powered sports helmet that offers all the bells and whistles you’ll need, whether you’re enjoying a quick trek on your bike or recording a daredevil stunt.

Designer: Relee Design

Safety helmets are often seen as burdensome necessities, especially by younger users, but they don’t have to be. Thanks to today’s technologies, they can be fun and cool to the point that you’ll actually want to wear them all the time, if only it wouldn’t be weird. The Relee M1 smart sports helmet definitely has that effect, especially when you realize how it makes you feel like a superhero or some secret agent because of its smart features.

At the very top of that list is its intelligent voice controls that let you take calls, listen to music, or even control apps on your phone with just your voice. The built-in mic and speakers let you access your phone’s apps via Siri or Google Assistant without any additional headset or earbuds that could block your ears and endanger your safety. And for those times when your voice can’t or shouldn’t be heard, the Relee M1 has a physical remote that you can mount on your bike handlebar or even on your wrist like a spy gizmo.

For those who love to record their adventures and misadventures, the Magician M1 sports helmet also offers a built-in 1080p Sony Starvis sensor, turning the helmet into an instant action cam. Capturing clear and smooth videos even under low light, the Relee M1 removes the need for an extra accessory jutting out of your helmet or your body, which could be a cause of mishaps. You or your friends can even enjoy live footage of the video by connecting with a phone app.

M1’s built-in 120° wide angle action camera captures stunning 1080P FHD footage from places only a RELEE helmet can go.

With the SONY Starvis IMX CMOS sensor chip technology, RELEE M1 captures its targets precisely, even in low light, and visualizes textures and colors distinctly.

Equipped with advance electronic image stabilization (EIS) technology.

The Relee M1 isn’t just about fun features, though, and it also does its part in keeping you and your head safe. In addition to high-grade materials to protect your head, the helmet has built-in lights that warn drivers behind you when you need to turn or brake. The strategic placement of 18 ventilation holes not only makes the helmet comfortable to wear for long periods but also reduces air resistance, creating a smoother and safer ride.

M1 lights up the road ahead out to 50ft for maximum visibility at night.

One-click activating intercom via VOISCHAT™ for team communication.

Just as outdoor activities have become a lifestyle choice, the Relee M1 can also be a lifestyle product with different color options and feature configurations to match your aesthetic tastes. With a built-in action camera, smart AI functions, and advanced safety features, the Relee Magician M1 might very well be the last sports helmet you’ll need to buy, one that makes outdoor activities not only safer but also more fun.

Superhero Helmet Car Ignition Button Covers: I Am Iron Car

Car ignition buttons: they usually just say ‘START STOP’ and sit there looking boring. Well now you can spice up your vehicle’s go button with one of these superhero helmet covers manufactured by LCDXBYTFT (try saying that ten times fast!) and available on Amazon (affiliate link). Plus I heard they add at least another 5 horsepower with their looks alone, similar to racing stripes or red brake caliper covers.

Available in several different superhero styles (Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Punisher, Bumblebee) and a variety of colors (some with translucent eyes that will appear to glow after dark if your ignition button is illuminated), the covers are “applicable to 99% of existing market models.” But what about my 2001 Explorer that doesn’t even have an ignition button? Or functional heat or A/C.

According to the manufacturer, the ignition covers make “every start of the car a sense of ritual.” Presumably a different ritual than the one I perform now, which involves saying a prayer and crossing my fingers the engine actually turns over, then proceeding to curse all the way to work in the cold.

These flashy automobiles pay the perfect tribute to Daft Punk’s helmets

Consider this a timely tribute to an untimely breakup. It’s been nearly 2 months since iconic electronic duo Daft Punk called it quits after nearly 30 years of creating music together. The two musicians, famous for hiding behind their robotic personas, are arguably responsible for shaping an entire genre and a generation with their music… so it’s safe to say that the news of their disbanding affected a lot of people. Automotive designer Tom Suhas was clearly one of them.

With his tribute, Suhas combines his love for automotive design with his awe and respect for Daft Punk. The Punkmobiles (a term I coined myself) are a pair of concept vehicles modeled on Daft Punk’s iconic helmets. Each car takes key elements from either of the helmets, translating their unique features into automotive details perfectly.

The Punkmobiles have a distinct Daft Punk vibe that’s apparent almost instantly. One of the cars comes in a remarkable all-chrome finish, with details modeled on Thomas Bangalter’s helmet. The other is a golden beast, with smoother curves and a panoramic tinted skylight that’s a perfect representation of Guy-Manuel’s headpiece. Go to the back and the car even has wires as seen in Guy-Manuel’s helmet in more classic 90s variants. It’s safe to say that even though the vehicles are conceptual, they are, like their creators, electric-powered. Thomas’ car sports massive gullwing doors that extend all the way to the front, while Guy-Manuel’s vehicle sports a single-piece door that opens frontwards, lifting the glass windshield with it. Both cars come with slick headlights and taillights, while even sporting the Daft Punk branding on the wheels. I wouldn’t blame you if you had an ‘Instant Crush’ on these beauts!

LEGO Stormtrooper and Boba Fett Busts Bust Out

Star Wars fans, it looks like there are a couple of nifty new LEGO sets coming that you’ll want to add to your collection. This duo of Stormtrooper and Boba Fett busts do a great job replicating the curves of the on-screen helmets, and will look great sitting on your bookshelf.

The pair of LEGO Star Wars busts turned up on the Facebook page of retailer ToySanta, though they have yet to be officially announced by LEGO. Set number 75276 – Stormtrooper features 647 pieces, while set number 75277 – Boba Fett comes with 625 bricks. Each one comes with a stand, and character name plate as well. It’s hard to tell how big the finished models will be. While I’d love for them to be life-sized helmets, I’m guessing they’re more like half-scale.

Prices have yet to be announced, but they’re expected to sell for somewhere around $70 to $80 USD. I’m guessing they’ll both be out by May, as both boxes show icons celebrating of the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, which came out on May 21, 1980.

A wearable 4K Action Camera that was designed to fit around the contour of your head

The Cambox V4 Pro literally sits where your metaphorical third eye would be, capturing your world through your unique point of view. Its ergonomic and lightweight design, crafted specially for PoV action filming, puts it on a pedestal above most cameras because the Cambox V4 Pro fits right around your forehead, underneath your visor. The Cambox V4 Pro is compatible with all helmets and peaks, and films from a perspective that is much closer to your eye level, allowing you to capture your bike drives, skateboard tricks, or ski-jumps from a perspective that is nearest to your own. Unlike other action cameras that need their own separate clunky mounts that sit a foot above your eye level, Cambox V4 Pro captures footage that’s the nearest to what YOU see… which is what the entire point of a PoV Action Camera is, right?

The action camera’s unique design probably best describes its purpose. With a camera element in the center, and two winged elements that wrap around your forehead, the Cambox V4 sits above your eyes, under your helmet. The V4 Pro doesn’t need a separate mount, or a permanent adhesive attachment. It works pretty much with any protective headgear, be it a ski mask, a helmet with a visor, a laser tag helmet, or even a construction hard hat. In fact, the V4 is even compatible with headgear for the armed forces and policemen. The winged design comes with a stereo mic on either side, and with the Cambox V4 Pro’s crown jewel in the center. Its UltraHD 4K camera, complete with a Sony sensor. The camera outshines most, with its wide 150° viewing angle, and an adjustable mount that lets you point the lens anywhere you want. The V4 Pro captures 4K at 60fps, but its frame rate can be bumped up to an impressive 240fps if you pull the quality down a few notches. Not too bad, if you ask me. Plus, all your footage gets stabilized within the V4 Pro, courtesy an on-board gyro and accelerometer chipset.

Footage recorded on the Cambox V4 Pro gets stored right in the MicroSD card slot of the camera. An in-built WiFi and Bluetooth service even lets you live-stream videos to your smartphone, toggling the start and stop feature. If you’re the kind to keep your eyes on the road (and I genuinely hope you are), the V4 Pro sports a volcano-shaped on/off button that’s easy to use with or without gloves. The V4 comes with a cool 1100 mAh battery that should last hours, and a USB-C port to charge it up before you embark on your adventure!

Interrogator Cyberpunk Cosplay Helmet Is Seriously Badass

Halloween is just around the corner, and if you’re looking to win every costume party in town, you should head over to Two Horns United’s Etsy shop, and check out their incredible collection of custom-built helmets, costumes, and cosplay accessories.

One of my favorites is this amazing piece of headgear, dubbed “The Interrogator.”

I also might call it “The Intimidator,” because if you saw someone coming at you with this thing on, you’d assume that we’d been invaded by aliens, and they’re coming for us all. Seriously, this thing looks like it just walked over from the set of a Neill Blomkamp movie.

The helmet was handcrafted from EVA foam, but the artist did a great job painting all the pieces to make them look like weathered metal. The foam construction means it’s lightweight and comfortable to wear. I also love the LED lighting effects – those really help to bring the character to life.

If you’ve got $1150 to spend on the ultimate costume, head on over to Etsy now. While you’re there, be sure to check out the rest of Two Horns United’s other amazing designs.
