This skyscraper-inspired speaker brings your love of architecture to your home!

Inspired by modern urban city landscapes, designer Jaeyong Lee has created this beautiful Bluetooth speaker which would sit elegantly in your home. This 2.1 channel speaker is made from aluminum extrusion panels whose sleek look is reminiscent of the long skyscrapers scattered across cities.

Called the FAKES speaker, its body which is made of a rectangular form consists of a linear grill and a ridge pattern on the adjacent side, while the other two sides are flat. These ridges include within them the knobs for controlling the various functions and beautifully blend with the serrated pattern when not in use. You can also use these ridges to place your phone in a tilted position.

The outer body comes in a variety of anodized aluminum colors and colorful speaker meshes which give a brilliant visual appeal. Now, the speaker is meant to be placed horizontally flat on one of the longer sides, but I can’t help but want to keep it standing tall just like the skyscrapers it mimics!

A wireless electric heater to keep you warm wherever you are

We are used to seeing radiators as an obvious part of a room. No matter how slim you make its form, the design has the slab or chunky look to it.

The Promenade is a simple U – shaped rod, that sits discreetly in any room. To make it portable in design, there is a wheel system fitted to the bottom of the pipe. When in use, the tube lights up ambient-ly, indicating that it is in use.

Using battery charging as its mainstay, the heater can be lined up together – six at a time – and charged at one go. Collectively the heat emitted is strong, so its best to be mindful of this.

Designer: Jaeyong Lee

“Promenade has the meaning of walking. The promenade can be moved together when the user moves to the desired space. This will provide enough functionality and aesthetics to warm the user’s emotions,” Lee told Yanko Design.

“Charged wireless heaters move around the space and warm the atmosphere as well as the air.”

“On the front is an LED that shows the charge status and temperature. The lower part has a terminal for charging and one wheel for movement.”

“One wheel at the bottom does not roll when standing upright.”

“When the user tilts to move this heavy heater, the wheels touch the floor and are movable.”

“Power can be obtained from the battery to heat the coils and dissipate high heat.”

A Light That Beautifully Illuminates its Surrounding

open_light_layout

Each day we are surrounded by light, but it’s the direct light that negatively impacts us as it has the ability to quickly makes our eyes tired. Open is a handy little light that has been designed to be used indirectly, as opposed to directly, and it does so in a beautiful way!

Open’s triangular prism-like form is made from ceramic, as it lends itself to a warm reflection of light as well as being effective for heat dissipation. The light softly escapes from within the prism via one of the three long edges; the user has the option of the side being opened to a 30 or 60 degree angle, depending on how much light they desire.

Open houses a battery within the form, allowing for it to be used wirelessly and so it is free to beautifully illuminate any location that the user chooses.

The future is ear!

The Google Glass experiment didn’t go well, but it sure paved the way for a lot of innovation in the smart headgear area. The Emotion Headphones for Pantech Sky’s Vega mobile may just be the perfect Glass divergent. Designed to work as many different things, the Emotion headphones also house a camera, a touchscreen, and sensors for heart rate monitoring, etc.

The nifty thing about these cans is that Camera unit is detachable, which means better battery life, and also that no one can hack into your camera feed and spy on you!

Definite Exit

The Triangle Optical Gate Design makes it ample clear which side of the gate can be used to pass through and which cannot. The design employs the use of an intuitive triangle edge on the top and the bottom end of the gates and LEDs help to make them more evident. The gates are the kinds you see at subway stations and can intuitively integrate features like barcode scanners, RFID readers etc.

Rock Paper Matchstick

The Traveler’s Paper Kit is an amazing basic survival kit for travelers where ready tools are available and crafted from a sheet of paper. Folded into a pocket book-style sheet, the kit includes a waste basket, a solar compass (with a northern star chart on the reverse side) for finding north, a position maker (for retracing one’s steps later), a reflective card (that can function as a distress signal), a finger-pressure therapy chart (for alleviating bodily pains through traditional Oriental palm-stimulation methods), a matchstick, and a cup.

Traveler’s Paper Kit is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner.

Fingering The Coffee

I am always fascinated with the different coffee packaging that keeps popping up. This time around we have a finger-cover design that folds inside out. Basically you can use the package itself to stir the coffee, once you have poured out the mix. It looks into hygiene, eco-friendliness and productiveness in a resourceful way.
