Jeep Container Home wants us to believe in no frills pack and move off-grid living

The idea of trailer homes is here to stay as we’ve seen in the last couple of years. The nomadic lifestyle is fast catching up with the masses and that has triggered a number of creators who want to cater to the needs of adventure seekers across the globe.

Jeep Japan too wants to jump on board this juggernaut, and cash in on the trend with this traveling house, Jeep Container Home. Just as the name suggests, the whole package is an expansive-looking house that goes where the Jeep goes. What makes it different from the other trailer homes is that can be hooked onto a 4×4 MUV – well, it doesn’t ride on wheels and is completely assembled on-site.

Designer: Jeep Japan

Jeep Container Home is basically a house ready to pack up and set up at the desired location with little effort. Surely, this one is not as easy to move as a tiny house on wheels or tent – still there are good merits. Compared to container homes, the Jeep’s concept home has sides that open up to the views and a skylight that brings a sense of airiness. Sliding the wooden barn doors opens up the interiors to the outside view and the windows come to view when the iron shutters are opened. For extended stays at one location, there’s the option to install glazing and solid shutters too.

The whole layout of the modular home setup is customizable with options to have a rooftop deck, go for open air-living, or add extensions for more usable space. For now, the concept proposes a bare inside area sans any amenities or furniture for more flexibility in setting up things as the user desires. Other than that, the Jeep Container House is equipped with rooftop solar panels for completely off-grid living in remote regions. When parked, the electric vehicle (Jeep is developing hybrid and all-electric versions currently) is charged via the sustainable system.

For now, the concept design is in the Jeep study phase and more details will float in once, the maker gets more serious about this idea. For us, right now this concept has the right direction but lacks a bit in long-term practical execution. That’s because the Jeep connection and semi-open design don’t seem to add up (or maybe I’m interpreting things wrongly). The idea could easily be implemented for a container house conversion too without all the complexities.

Willys CJ like electric off-roader is made for quick adventures and cargo hauling tasks

If you’ve got bored of the usual SUVs, then French startup Kilow has got the perfect off-roading set of wheels if you are a couple. Meet the two-seater La Bagnole electric UTV that can also be categorized as a mini pickup truck for the appropriate tasks. The makers label it as a vehicle “stripped of the superfluous, ideal for daily journeys and designed to be fun and practical.”

La Bagnole has a typical Willys Jeep vibe from the front – just look at that grille and the open-wheel design. Thus, the vehicle is primarily used for adventures and dirt-laden tracks for the outdoorsy who love to head outside the city limits every now and then. Don’t expect it to go at breakneck speeds on the freeway (it’s more like a crawling machine) since the entry-level variant maxes out at 29 mph and the much more powerful version churns out a 50 mph top speed.

Designer: Kilow

The EV is quite lightweight having a dry weight of 770 lb and both variants have a respectable range. 43 miles and 87 miles respectively. One big advantage here is the ability to charge via a standard outlet in just a few hours. Rather than being a full-blown SUV or MUV, La Bagnole is more of an alternative to a two-wheeler with the freedom to tread inhospitable terrain. More so when it has got a steel chassis and galvanized steel double-wishbone suspension. Those skinny tires don’t look to assuring for a hardcore off-roading experience, still good enough for the odd detour down the trails. For times when you need to haul medium-sized cargo, the vehicle won’t let you down.

If you are already thinking it’s more like a toy car for adults, bingo… The EV ships in a toy car-inspired box which can be recycled as a storage crate. There is even an option to charge the battery off-grid with integrated solar panels. The vehicle debuted at the Paris Motor Show last week and grabbed attention for its unconventional looks.

The base L6e version will not require a driver’s license while the beefier version will require the honors. La Bagnole will come at a starting price tag of $9,975 and the deliveries are expected by early 2023.

Cybertruck with ‘big boy pants’ – this Jeep Pickup takes Tesla’s low-poly design to the next level

When Elon took to the stage to reveal the Cybertruck design, he made a pretty telling and significant observation – when you put the top pickup trucks right beside each other and remove their branding, it’s difficult to tell them apart. That statement ushered in a new age of pickup truck design, with Tesla, Rivian, Canoo, and a bunch of other automotive companies redefining what a new-age electric pickup truck should look like. With this new pickup concept, it seems like Jeep is throwing its hat into the ring too.

The Jeep Pickup Concept by Aitor Amigo López is a balanced fusion of modern yet traditionally brawny… a combination of beastly and refined – sort of like ‘Smart Hulk’. I wouldn’t imagine a lumberjack or trucker behind the wheel of this car… but swap out their flannel shirt and dungarees for a leather jacket and sunglasses and maybe they’d fit right into this modern monster.

Designer: Aitor Amigo López

When López envisioned his concept, he undoubtedly flashed his creative license quite a bit. Purely from a realism standard, there are a few things that feel ‘far-fetched’ about this concept, although on paper, the Jeep Pickup is purely a ‘what if’ exercise, so it’s best viewed from that lens.

The Jeep Pickup sports the same low-poly edgy design as the Cybertruck, although it isn’t shy to explore curves, complex 3D surfaces, and an overall aesthetic that’s more expressive than Cybertruck’s bare-basics minimal design. The concept makes use of both sheet metal as well as carbon-fiber, creating a dual-color effect around the front, sides, and back that’s definitely interesting to look at. The mammoth of a vehicle floats majestically off the floor with ground clearance that’s enough to let you drive over boulders without worrying about them hitting the underside of your car. This concept may look like it was designed to have an electric powertrain under the hood, although grilles on the front of the car make me wonder otherwise.

Now onto the more ‘unrealistic’ details on the Jeep Pickup. For starters, the car doesn’t sport any glass panels. The front and rear windshield are made from a pretty futuristic-looking hexagonal armor-panel (I’m getting Crysis vibes), while the side windows are decidedly opaque. One could assume that the interior of the car’s equipped with massive HUDs and display panels (sort of like the inside of a tank)… given the impression the Jeep Pickup is trying to make, that seems like a pretty fitting design direction. The opaque panels, sadly, mean that there’s no way to see what the insides of the pickup look like. Maybe the designer will detail it out sometime in the future.

Speaking of ‘future’, the car’s modern aesthetic is further completed thanks to its edge-lit headlight and taillight, the lack of side mirrors, and even door handles. The truck does, however, come with a pretty spacious rear bed. Big enough for a quad-bike… or maybe a hovercraft if we’re this far into the future?

From Tesla Roadster to DeLorean DMC-12, watch these iconic cars in their badass avatar!

Los Angeles-based digital artist Bradbuilds knows what tingles the nerves of motorheads who can’t get enough of badass four-wheelers. His concept creations are both fascinating as well as practical to a wide genre of audience. All of them are basically a high steroid infusion of what popular vehicles could be in real life. The likes of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Beetle, Corvette, and many other. Bradbuilds’ off-road creations have been loved in the last years or so and here are the ones we couldn’t help but appreciate.

Tesla Roadster Safari

Build for an eventual apocalypse, the Tesla Roadster Safari is straight out from a Doomsday movie plot with the intention of making it through any Armageddon. It gets the Tesla’s all-electric drivetrain and the solar panels fitted on the roof and sides make sure you don’t run out of power while being ambushed by zombies.

Tesla Off-Road Cybertruck

If you are also from the camp who thinks the Cybertruck missed out on something, this creation justifies the belief. Big chunky tires, and a reinforced suspension and steering rods makes this concept Cybertruck a beast ready to conquer any terrain, and that too in style.

DeLorean DMC-12

The iconic DMC-12 gets a boost in its armor courtesy of the elongated suspension and crash protection on the undercarriage. This is matched with the all-terrain tires, the nostalgic Doc Brown’s reactor and rear cooling fans. Who on the face of the earth would deny this DeLorean’s off-roading DNA!

BMW M4 Camping Trailer

Next, we have another one of my favorite creations by the artist – the BMW M4 camping trailer. The personality of the coupe virtual takes a headstand with a one-man camping trailer neatly fitted inside the boot and leading up to the roof. If you like things sexy, this solo ride is the one that fits the bill.

Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech

The perfect cocktail of MadMax and Cyberpunk 2077 takes shape in the form of this mean Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech facelifted for any uncanny chase thrown its way. The fat tires and a robust suspension system lifts the car like it was born that way – it looks so natural. Another one of my favorite from the collection.

Lamborghini Urus Off-Road

How about a Lamborghini Urus for an off-road makeover that’s irresistible? Yes, Bradbuilds doesn’t shy from experimenting with digital designs no one else would even dream of. This off-road Lamborghini Urus is a classic example.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is already a very capable 4×4 off-roader. But Bradbuilds thinks it can get better in a new avatar. The big protruding wheels and the buggy-like rear give a true character of an off-roader that can take on inclines of more than 45 degrees – perfect for motorheads!

This electric Jeep Hexagon is built for extreme polar expeditions

MOSAiC (Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate) expedition on-board the modern research icebreaker went on for a year from September 2019 to October 2020 – operating in the North pole. The motive was to deploy sensors and monitoring stations in an area spanning 30 miles – with the idea of getting a deeper insight into the Arctic climate system. Just picture a scenario where the researchers have to reach one of the remote servers for repair, and the inclement climatic conditions don’t allow air commute via a helicopter. In such a situation, a reliable, electric four-wheeler will be the way to go.

The Hexagon Jeep by Gwi Design is created for such future expeditions, where the highly hostile conditions demand a stellar off-roader. The electric Jeep adopts a hexagon design geometry since it is proven to be one of the most robust known shapes. The vehicle’s namesake, a jeep, is justified by the colossal ground clearance for the hostile terrain of the region. The approach and departure angles of the Hexagon Jeep make complete sense too. To make the ride as smooth as possible for the researchers, it has independent shock absorbers. The vehicle comes with removable battery packs on the back, which can be swapped for charged ones in an instant.

The most intriguing feature of the Hexagon Jeep expedition vehicle is the removable headlights that double as torchlight when needed. I can’t resist but mention; the car looks like a cross between the Warthog light utility vehicle showcased in Halo and the GMC Hummer EV. Although Gwi has designed the concept for MOSAiC expeditions, it will make for a very cool off-road vehicle on the trails for adventure enthusiasts!

Ex-Lamborghini designer designs a Jeep Vangler-inspired Overlanding van tailored for extreme jungle safaris!

Remember the Jeep Forward Control light commercial vehicle introduced way back in 1956, that in a way revolutionized the commercial transportation scenario in America? If you see the glimpses of the Jeep Forward Control in this dapper vehicle – that’s only natural. Designed by Germany-based Samir Sadikhov who’s had considerate experience at Lamborghini, Genisis and Rezvani, the Overlanding capable vehicle christened Jeep Vangler looks absolutely stunning and is perfect for an extreme jungle safari.

Most of all it’s not an outrageously radical design that looks good on paper but when one thinks of practicality it falls flat on the face. Samir’s design is essentially a Jeep Wrangler inspired van that’s created to take on any terrain and for people who like open-air adventures. Since it has the genome of the Forward Control, the hood has been chopped off, and has an even boxier profile than the Wrangler. The chunkier tires, a row of fog lights, and winch at the front – all assure its off-roading capabilities. To spice up things the designer has envisioned a more traditional van-like design and yet another that has a more safari vehicle like feel thanks to the glass-less rail doors. Both these iterations have plenty of space on the roof basket to haul your belongings for a long adventure trip, so you can carry as much load as you intend to on the Vangler.

By the look of things, the vehicle seems to have an independent suspension system, loads of ground clearance and penned to be an electric drivetrain since the hood is virtually non-existent. So the only option would be to have an electric drivetrain on the floor with battery storage on the rear or on the floor itself. The stunning off-road van looks good for an adventure trip with your family since it can accommodate 7-9 people as there are three rows of seating. Vangler puts up a strong case for automotive manufacturers (Jeep in particular) to give this design a serious thought, and there’s even extended possibility with Samir’s design to be converted into a campervan, now that would get anybody excited won’t it?

Jeep should give this edgy, futuristic EV for digital nomads some serious thought

For people like us working constantly in front of the screen can at times get boring, and the only pipedream is to have a fully customizable camper that changes its configuration depending on the needs. And yes, it should be eco-friendly and fully autonomous. If you think I’m asking for too much, then this cool project by B.K. Kang might change your perception. Fast forward a decade and this might actually be quite conceivable – a four-wheeler for digital nomads who happen to be adventure lovers, always longing for that next road trip to socialize with like-minded people.

Kang calls it the Jeep Ger/D-nomad Hub, and although the name sounds a bit odd, it makes complete sense as it’s not just about the Jeep Ger electric vehicle, it’s also about the docking station (or central docking station) where one can replenish and make temporary home until the next destination. The idea is inspired by the Mongolian ger – an insulated mobile home native to the Mongolian nomadic tribes and some Asian regions. Since there are no driving aids like steering or pedals, space is all there for your digital life. You can turn it into a comfy setup having a floating hammock and lounge area or a more formal setting with a desk and transforming bed.

The central hub is more like an airport terminal where the Jeep Ger can be docked temporarily to finish up an important board meeting or maybe picking up supplies for a long trip ahead. The rear of the vehicle is inspired by the opening of a milk carton for full access to the interior while being docked. When it’s time to move, the opening closes up effortlessly. Three space under the front hood to store luggage and the solar panel roof on top can be lifted when a more airy interior is the need. To have the right ambient lighting, the lights on the floor can be adjusted to the preferred mode. The design is focused on productivity on the move and making the occupants feel right at home. A pretty interesting concept don’t you think?
