This foldable e-bike makes clean commuting look great for the conscious consumer!

As we move towards the future of clean commuting, we must keep in mind that not all places will have a robust public transport system and if it is a suburb then chances are that things may not be at a walkable distance always. In realistic situations like this electric bikes are the most viable option – they are quick to maneuver on busy streets and continue to keep your carbon footprint at a minimum. To make them even more functional, designer Kaiser Chang has created a foldable e-bike called Somerset that is truly ideal for any urban or suburban dweller.

Somerset gets its name from ‘tumbling’ because it tumbles and collapses into a compact form. The mainframe of the e-bike uses an oval-shaped tube as a slide rail, this makes the front fork slide down and combines the two wheels and to transform into a handcart. Somerset’s circular steel structure and semi-arc frames give it a sleek, slim visual aesthetic. The flow lines make the e-bike look modern and minimal even when its folded. Now, this is what I call a true problem-solving design!

A Champ of a Bike Lamp

Lexdesign2-01

Designed for serious nighttime cyclists and leisurely riders alike, Astra is the next best thing to a fully integrated head lamp. The clean, stylish, aluminum attachment blends seamlessly to any handlebar, is easily installed and even easier to operate. Its unique arm places the head lamp at the very center of the bars where the beam has the widest range and gives the user the maximum illumination of surroundings. With a perfect beam cut-off line, it won’t cause glare to drivers but will ensure the rider is visible.

Easy E-Bike Conversion

tranzx_01

With its sleek design, the TranzX Works downtube battery is made to pack an enormous amount of power in small package. The design includes the lithium ion electric bike battery and a bracket that easily bolts onto the downtube bar where most water bottle holders normally sit. This makes it especially easy to remove and replace for recharging. For basic bike conversions, it provides power to the motor without a ton of extra weight. Simply snap it in for hours of riding!

A Twist (rather, slide) on the Folding Bike

somerset-01

I’m not sure you can even call it a folding bike, because the Somerset utilizes a MUCH more effective system to shrink down to a compact size! At the heart of the design is a horseshoe-shaped, tubular frame that’s used as a slide rail. The circular steel structure and semi-arc frames can be transformed into a rollable handcart in seconds, making it easy to transfer between cycling and other forms of transportation like the subway or bus. Its small compact size also makes it convenient to store when not in use. Better yet, the unique arc and overall shape is as functional as it is beautiful, especially when compared to true folding bike designs.
