‘Super Mario Maker 2’ update adds Link from The Legend of Zelda

Super Mario Maker 2 level creators will have a few more tools to play with when the 2.0 update for the Nintendo Switch game drops Thursday. The biggest addition this time around is Link of Legend of Zelda fame.

It’s Dangerous to Go Alone, Take This to Light Your Path!

Fans of The Legend of Zelda franchise will remember the potion jars you can find that give you certain boosts depending on the color of its contents. Check out this light-up potion jar that light that looks like it came straight out of the game.

The jar stands 6-inches tall, and if you push the cork down, you can cycle through its modes. Functions include the ability to slowly cycle through the colors or stay on a particular color, so you can pick your potion.

It lights up in red, blue, green, orange, and yellow. Power comes from three AAA batteries, and you can buy one for $24.99 at Entertainment Earth, with shipping starting this July.

Rick and Morty Creator Selling Customized Legend of Zelda 3DS

Rick and Morty fans will probably recall the episode called “Total Rickall.” During one scene,  Rick hatches a plan to buy limited-edition Legend of Zelda 3DS consoles from Walmart for $149, then get a $50 gift card, and sell them for $230 to get rich. I might have seemed like an obscure and odd joke in the episode, but there was a reason behind it.

Show creator Justin Roiland has recently stated that everything Rick said in that scene is exactly what he did back in the day. He allegedly has an entire guest room full of those handhelds, and now Roiland has put some of the consoles up for sale on Witchsy. Though he’s asking $1,000 for each one instead of $230.

Buyers will get the limited-edition console signed by Roiland with a Rick and Morty doodle. The box appears to be the only part signed because you certainly don’t open a limited-edition Legend of Zelda 3DS XL. The doodle in the one shown here has a 1/10 marking, hinting that nine more of the systems will available after this one sells.

Roiland said of the episode, “All the stuff Rick says in that scene in the episode was actually true. My plan was to sell them off here and there over the years but I just had so many that I still have them. It’s also important to know that I felt bad after I bought them all so I went and purchased 15 2DS systems and a bunch of games and donated them to the children’s hospital of Los Angeles. I became part of the problem that day. I became a scalper. CHA-CHING.”

Breath of the Wild Bow and Arrow Replica Set: A Link to Your Wallet

It’s safe to say that Nintendo’s Switch has been a wild success, and one of the games that they can thank for that is Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This is probably one of the biggest and most popular Legend of Zelda games ever. And if you played the game, there’s no doubt that you want Link’s weapon so you can take out some bad guys.

Well, now you can get a replica of Link’s Traveler’s Bow with a light-up Ancient Arrow.  You have to protect yourself in a big open world, so it pays to always have your weapon handy. Or it would. Sadly, I hate to tell you that the bow is not functional, so you can’t draw the bowstring. But at least you can admire it on your bookshelf or wall… and the arrow does light up, so that’s cool

Display it proudly on your wall or mantle. The details are perfect. It looks just like the one from the game. On top of a wall mount featuring the Sheikah Eye symbol, the bow and arrow look awesome.

This replica is a must for Zelda fans.  This is an amazing collector’s piece. Make sure that you get yours before they are gone forever. It’s dangerous to go alone, so grab your credit card and head to ThinkGeek to order yours now.

The glistening Rupees inside have a solid heft to them because they are basically paperweights, and this will make them feel great in your hand, like you just scored some actual treasure. As an very cool added bonus, the chest plays the classic sound from the games when you open it! They are so beautiful and they’re mine. All mine! If only I had enough treasure to dive into like Daffy Duck.

If you’re lusting after this like I am, it can be pre-ordered from Merchoid for $194.99 with free shipping. Sure, it’s kind of expensive, but it is treasure we’re talking about here after all. You gotta spend money to make money, right? Er… Rupees in this case. Get it? In this case? Tough room. Anyway, get one while you can. There aren’t many left in stock.

Legend of Zelda Inspired Beer, It’s Dangerous to Go Sober

Second Self Beer Company has introduced a new IPA ale inspired by The Legend of Zelda. It goes by the name of Triforce IPA. Right now it is available at the brewery’s taproom in Atlanta, and other select stores and bars in the area, plus Alabama. We have no idea if this beer is going to be available nationwide, but we hope so.

It is a 6.1 percent ABV brew that’s said to be refreshing and smooth. Suggested pairings include tacos, barbecue, fresh vegetables, ceviche, fromage blanc, and magical potions. It should be a smooth enough beer to enjoy while playing your Nintendo Switch for a few hours. They take this stuff seriously at Second Self. “Beer architect” Jason Santamaria has been a lifetime fan of the Zelda franchise, and because of his love of the game, he always wanted to have a beer with the name Triforce.

To celebrate the beer’s release, Second Self is hosting a “Triforce Quest” event, which will see Zelda goodies hidden throughout the city, including plush toys, toy bows and arrows and slingshots. You can win other prizes too. It’s happening through March 3rd, so if you’re in the Atlanta area, check it out and have some fun.

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Electronic Flute: HEY OCARINA!

The thing with the game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is that you really wanted that flute thingy. ThinkGeek as turned that in-game item into a real product that you can jam on. The ladies will be so impressed.

The electronic Ocarina has two modes with classic mode unlocking a hidden song when you play the correct six button tune. There is also a free-play mode that lets you jam out jazz ocarina style.

It comes with a book that shows you the six notes to play to unlock the hidden song, as well as to play Zelda’s Lullaby, Epona’s Song, Saria’s Sond, Song of Time, Sun’s Song, and Song of Storms. You can pre-order your own Legend of Zelda Electronic Ocarina of Time for $29.99(USD).

Beautiful Legend of Zelda-Themed Nintendo Switch

The folks over at MakoMod have created a super cool custom Nintendo Switch that looks like it came straight out of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It really looks that good.

If you have played the game, you know that Link uses the Sheikah Slate to take pictures, look at maps, and see where he needs to go. What is cool about this creation is that it lets you play Breath of the Wild using a device that looks like it came straight out of the game. This custom game system has real wood surfaces, and chiseled brass trim around the Joy-Cons, and synthetic leather around frame of the display.

I have always said that console makers should pay attention to modders, and let them help their companies offer some special editions. Sadly, they never listen to me.

If you love it as much as I do, you can bid on it over on eBay now. The current bid is already nearly $700 (USD), and there’s still a week left to go on the auction though.

It is sooooo lovely. I wish I had one.
