A $1,000 Life-Size Skeletor Bust: Perfect For Your Castle Greyskull

Because no home is complete without a life-size supervillain bust, Sideshow has teamed up with collectibles studio Tweeterhead to produce this full-scale Skeletor bust. The piece is available for pre-order for $1,000 and Sideshow expects to ship sometime between October and December 2021. Just don’t plan on trying to snatch them all up to resell like PS5’s, because there’s a two-per-customer limit.

Measuring approximately 28″ tall, 17″ deep and 31″ wide, the bust includes a posable/removable fabric hood so you can display Skeletor in all his skully goodness should you choose to do so. Still, for $1,000 though I do wish his eyes lit up and you could press a button to make him laugh and/or joke on He-Man.

I think we can all agree Skeletor here is going to look fantastic gazing down upon my living room from the mantle. I mean, sure, grandma’s ashes will have to scoot over a bit, but I’m sure she won’t mind making room for a thousand-dollar bust of a kid’s cartoon character.

Ed Zarick’s Life-size BB-8 Has Everything but the Lighter

We’ve seen a BB-8 made by a young maker on a budget. Now let’s check out a more sophisticated replica. This one was made by Ed Zarick, who we love for his awesome console laptop mods.

Ed printed the BB-8’s head using guides and tips from the BB-8 Builders Club and Astromech.net. To make it move, he made a single axle drive system that uses counterweights so that it won’t easily tip over or wobble after every move. Ed also made his own remote control that’s compact but still has accessible controls. Aside from being a complicated project, this droid is also expensive; Ed spent about $500 (USD) just for the plastic sphere that he used for BB-8’s body. But the result is more than worth it.

I highly doubt that Ed will make more BB-8s to sell, but he is putting together an exhaustive guide on his website, along with the DXF and 3D files that he himself made.

Cerevo Life-size Psycho-Pass Dominator Replica is Criminally Expensive

Aspiring Enforcement officers and prejudiced people will soon be a step closer to role-playing as their favorite Psycho-Pass characters, thanks to Cerevo’s upcoming life-size replica of the Dominator. The toy pistol does its best to mimic the self-restrained gun’s bells and whistles.

The replica’s main draw is that it actually transforms between the Dominator’s Paralyzer and Eliminator modes, accompanied by a satisfying whirr from its moving parts. It also has 217 RGB LEDs and built-in speakers. The latter emits not just sound effects but also over 100 quotes from Noriko Hidaka, the gun’s voice actress (who by the way also did the voices of Satsuki in My Neighbor Totoro and Akane in Ranma 1/2).

The gun also has touch sensors on both the left and right sides of its grip. Apparently you’ll be able to use those sensors to lock the gun, another nod to its anime counterpart. Of course, your roleplaying won’t be complete without a Crime Coefficient HUD. As you’ll see in the video below, the gun also has a front-facing camera. It can stream video to a complementary mobile app, which shows a replica of the Enforcer’s augmented reality interface. You’ll soon be able to tell if your cat is a latent criminal.

All that amounts to one impressive, but expensive toy. The gun will be available for pre-order in Japan starting 2/18 for about $680 (USD). There’s also a $770 Special Edition that has a polished rosewood grip and an aluminum and synthetic ruby Public Safety Bureau insignia. Non-Japanese residents need not riot, because the gun will be available internationally later this year.

Life-sized Stormtrooper Action Figure: TK-42-Want

Check out this awesome Star Wars toy for rich kids. This life-sized Stormtrooper is coming soon from Gentle Giant. It stands nearly six-feet-tall and is a replica of the original Kenner Stormtrooper toy. It even has the same articulation, so you can pose this thing just like the original.

It was scanned from a mint-condition 3 3/4″ figure and enlarged to life size. This Stormtrooper also comes with an authentic re-scaled blaster. I only wish that I had room for this amazing figure in my home.

You can pre-order it now for $2,300(USD) and it will ship around Q3 2014. This guy is NOT a little short for a Stormtrooper. He’s just the right size.

Valve taunts us with prospect of official Portal 2 sentry turret replica video

A Holy Grail of gamer memorabilia is the Portal turret replica -- as much a tech toy as proof that you can sing "Want You Gone" from memory. It's already been coveted when made in small batches by fans, so you can imagine the hysteria when Valve Software itself posts a teaser video (found after the break) at its store's Facebook page showing what looks to be a near life-size, computer-linked version of Aperture Science's typical sentry from Portal 2, minus the laser targeting and live machine guns. After that, however, we're left to guess whether or not it's just a decoration for Valve's offices or a commercial product to buy alongside a Companion Cube plushie. We've asked Valve about providing more details in the near future and will let you know if the developer is any more talkative than its robot guards.
