Tesla turns the helicopter electric!

tesla_copter_1

I don’t see an immediate need for Tesla to be building helicopters, but I wouldn’t put it past Mr. Musk, a man who has in his career, built a payment gateway, an electric car and battery company (and solar power), a spaceflight and research company, a brain+computer interface company, and a company that plans to create complex underground tunnelways under urban civilization because ‘traffic in LA is a drag’. The last one also venturing into the flamethrower market.

Antonio Paglia sure seems to think the Tesla Helicopter is well on its way. Built in a time where Tesla’s batteries will be able to power large manned airborne vehicles, the Tesla Helicopter carries the company’s DNA, both physically and spiritually. Designed for efficiency and speed, the Helicopter would do well in departments like safety and patrol, allowing the administration to effectively patrol the skies and ground while even in some cases offer assistance in an emergency. Thoughts, Mr. Musk?

After Math: First!

It was a week of firsts for the tech industry. Facebook finally got around to adding its first African American board member (because it's not like it's already 2018 or anything), a lifeguard drone made its first Hasselhoffian beach rescue, Ferrari a...

The Baywatch inspired Drone!

amphibious_drone_1

If you look at a drone, and at a hovercraft, there isn’t much difference between them. Both of them rely on fan-based propulsion, but just in different directions. The Amphibious Joint Lifeguard UAV is essentially a surveillance drone, but it does the job of a motorized flotation device too. The device hovers around vertically over the shore warning swimmers who swim too far into the ocean. In the unlikely event of a driftaway, the drone heads for the victim and plunges itself into the water near it. The victim holds on while the drone pulls him/her to the shore, powering through the tide with its powerful rotors. The body of the drone, aside from being buoyant, come with solar panels, giving the UAV freedom to save lives without worrying about battery power!

The Amphibious Joint Lifeguard UAV is a winner of the Red Dot Design Award for the year 2016.

Jet Powered Rescue

When it comes to lifeguard rescues, seconds can mean the difference between life and death. With this in mind, the ResQ board was designed specifically to cut rescue time in torrential waters which generally take longer to tackle. The power-assisted device is driven by tandem electric motors via water-jet propulsion. Because it’s intended to be used near sunny areas, each is rechargeable on a solar docking station.

Swim Safe App

Everyone loves the beach, especially kids… but parents know that it can be just as dangerous as it is fun! The Harvey Swim Harness app combination now lets parents rest assure that their little ones will be safe playing in the surf. The child’s smart-harness relays GPS and heart rate/breathing vitals to the system which is accessible via parents’ smartphones. Every child wearing a harness is visible to anyone viewing the app, so other parents are alerted anytime a nearby child is in danger to ensure they have the maximum chance of rescue.
