An intuitive step-by-step CPR coach to help you save a life!

Knowing how to perform CPR accurately can be the difference between saving a life or losing one. However, not everyone is aware of how to perform CPR, and even those who are can get super nervous in such a stressful situation! Hence, VanBerlo Agency designed LifeSaver, an intuitive CPR coach. LifeSaver provides smart and intuitive CPR guidance, taking you through the entire procedure step-by-step. Not only does it give the rescuer a confidence boost and reduces his/her stress and nervousness, but it enhances the quality of chest compressions as well.

LifeSaver can be mounted on walls at accessible and prominent locations. If someone is suffering from a cardiovascular attack, you simply grab it and press the button for calling 911 below it. So while you perform CPR, the ambulance is on its way! The first instruction provided is to remove the clothes from the chest of the victim. After that, you open the box and remove LifeSaver from it. Place the AED on the chest of the victim, and follow the instructions. OLEDs and touch sensors guide you through the entire process. LifeSaver even helps you with placing the electrodes correctly and guides you regarding the location and rhythm for the chest compressions. Via visual displays and an audio option, LifeSaver gives you critical feedback.

With AEDs like these in public places, people will be equipped to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, increasing the rate of heart attack survival and saving many lives! Not to mention the bright orange star-shaped product is easily visible and doesn’t look very formidable and complicated.

Circle of Life Buoy

acircle_cover

Being stranded in the open sea is a big fear of mine. I’ve been on cruise ships and have been surrounded only by water with no land in sight. The thought of the ship sinking definitely goes through my mind. Queue the Titanic soundtrack.

However, thanks to a group of designers from the Laboratory of Industrial Design, LuXun Academy of Fine Arts in China, they have come up with the design called A-Circle Life Buoy.

A-Circle Life Buoy, made from injection molding technology with an inflatable and wearable hot melt rubber, is the answer to all of our “stranded at sea” fears. The wearable buoy is designed to isolate the water, maintain body temperature and keep the user a float. Each Buoy is also equipped with GPS as well as emitting light which helps rescuers locate the user quickly and safely.

Next time I find myself on a cruise ship, I hope I have A-Circle Life Buoy close at hand!

Lifebuoys Better in Numbers

oceanhope_01

Called the Hope of Ocean, this modern emergency response concept means enhanced lifesaving at sea! A single lifesaving floatation device is not only hard to spot but less effective in mass rescue. However, in numbers, they can be incredibly useful! These hang over the side of the ship. In the event it goes down (knock on wood), they are automatically released and begin to inflate on contact with water. They can then be linked together to form a larger lifesaving ring to keep the stranded individuals together and organized for easier rescue.

The Hope of Ocean concept is a Red Dot Award: Design Concept winner.

The Visible Lifesaver

Life Light is perfectly visible in low light and night, making it an efficient and practical lifesaver and emergency buoy by the sea. The upside is that it relies on renewable energy sources to keep the LEDs working at night. It even features an LED water battery. So far the flipside are none, except that it’s still a concept. What do you say?

Life Light is a 2012 iF Design Talents winner.
