Harry Potter Wands That Shoot Actual Fireballs: Incendio!

Because housefires aren’t going to just start themselves, manufacturer Wejioin is selling these Harry Potter inspired (but by no means officially licensed) wands on Amazon (affiliate link) that actually shoot fireballs. To operate one, you just pack a small piece of flash paper in the business end of the wand, then push the button at its base to heat the coil inside, igniting the flash paper and causing it to shoot from the end like a fireball. They’re fiery fun for all ages!

Per the official product instructions: “Put the flame paper in, turn on the switch, recite the spell, shoot the flame, restore the movie magic scene, and make you a different magician.” Awesome, because I’ve always wanted to be a different magician. Mostly one who can perform actual magic and doesn’t have to rely on smoke and mirrors to impress an audience. I’m tired of getting booed.

Of course, it’s imperative that you ONLY use flash paper in the wand. Just because you ran out of flash paper shooting fireballs all Saturday morning long doesn’t mean you should try to use a piece of paper towel. Just… trust me. To my credit though, I did think we had fire insurance.

Levitos, A Levitating Indoor Planter: Garden in the Sky

Because in the future, everything will levitate, some genius has created the $121 Levitos Plant Pot, a small planter that levitates above its base so your favorite houseplant can admire the view from above. The levitating planter operates via electromagnetic induction powered by an AC adapter and hovers about 2 cm above the walnut finish base. Your plant never had it so good!

Not only does the planter hover, but it’s also designed to rotate slowly, ensuring your plant gets sunlight from all angles for lush, uniform growth. Plus, I think we can all agree; it looks even cooler rotating. “Whee!” I imagine your plant thinking as it rotates, just before getting motion sickness.

So, what do you think the next levitating product to hit the market will be? I’m hoping for a levitating bed. When levitating beds are the norm, that’s when we’ll really know we’re living in the future. Right now? Right now, we might as well be sleeping in caves and getting mauled to death by sabertooth tigers trying to hunt wooly mammoths. And where the heck are the x-ray glasses we were promised?!

Floating Fireball in Hand Props: Cosplaying with Fire

Created by the cosplay and propmaker at GiveWave Studios, the Floating Fireball Prop 2.0 is an illuminated fireball that appears to float above the palm of a person’s hand, as if by magic. Which is exactly the point. No word what Floating Fireball Prop 1.0 was, but in my mind, it was an actual burning wad of crumpled paper.

Held to the hand with a transparent plastic band, the fireball is illuminated by a string of wire LED ‘fairy lights’ inside, and is available in a variety of colors ($68 to $86) to suit your current fireball needs. Me? I want a large blue one but with the head of the fireball facing away from the palm like I’m performing a Street Fighter Hadouken. This year’s Halloween costume contest will be mine.

Get one for each hand and pretend you’re dual-wielding magical fireballs. Just a friendly word of advice: make sure to extinguish your flames (read: take them off) before attempting to go to the bathroom. The horrifying stories Merlin used to tell!

The bi-fold wallet that has tricks up its sleeve!

I’d have loved to make a joke about card tricks (because the wallet holds cards), but I guess you just have to work with the cards you’re dealt (booyah). The Flip Flop Wallet by Bodega is probably the most interesting bifold wallet I’ve seen in quite a long time (comparable to Garzini Cavare’s Magic Wallet). It comes with two folding lines… one running vertically down the middle, giving it the characteristic of a bifold and allowing it to open and close like a book, and one running diagonally, letting you fold the open wallet from one corner to the other, to create a W-shaped wallet that neatly displays your cards and lets you pick the ones you want to use.

The Flip-Flop’s interaction is fun and does provide enough functionality so that it’s not a gimmick… it’s just a really cool wallet! The wallet’s slim and compact, fitting easily into your front or back pockets, and comes with a molded leather exterior and stitch-less construction, so it lasts long and doesn’t fall apart. It comes with a leather exterior, for the style, and a suede interior that gives the inside a velvety touch. The wallet stores up to 8 cards, and can also store banknotes if folded. It even packs RFID Blocking, protecting your cards and money from unwarranted scans or cyber hacks.

The Flip Flop just makes owning a wallet interesting! Unfold it to open it out into a rectangular shape and you’ve got yourself a regular bifold. Fold it down its diagonal spine and you’ve got a wallet that puts your cards out on display, wowing everyone around! Just be safe because your friends may expect you to foot the bill after seeing your magical little wallet!
