The wave-inspired forms on this air purifier change colour to indicate the air quality!

In the 21stcentury with pollution seemingly always on the rise, air purifiers are considered as common everyday household appliances. The need for clean air has never been more pertinent. However, the conventional air purifier designs can become a bit boring, often contrasting with the interiors and aesthetic theme of our homes. Hence Korean product designer Minho Lee has come up with ‘Air Wave’. Air Wave performs all the functions of an ideal air purifier but also manages to take it up a notch. It functions as a piece of furniture as well, seamlessly merging into the interiors of your home, with a colorful twist! Adapting to the changing trends of residential spaces, Air Wave cohesively compliments any living area it is placed into. Circular and tubular in shape, with four legs to support it, the purifier has been embellished with four curvy lines that serve as motifs representing the flow and movement of air. Resembling waves, the lines change color according to the quality of air in your home; blue for when it’s extremely clean, green for normal, yellow for when it’s turning impure and red for high alert when the impurity hits the roof! Within the circular top of Air Wave lies an ‘Air Clean Display’ which shows the dust concentration present in the indoor space. The color of the display also shifts from blue to green to yellow and (hopefully not) red indicating the air quality. This airwave lighting technique also gives an in-depth analysis of the dust present after every four steps, so you are always informed about the atmosphere of your household. Date, time, and temperature are all displayed on the screen.

Air Wave is an attempt to break away from the usual air purifier designs, to end the eternal struggle between home appliances and furniture. Both these items are often at odds, failing to collaborate to create an aesthetic living space. However, Air Wave promises to bridge this gap, harmonizing the relationship between furniture and home appliances, by serving as an appliance that camouflages within your living space, and at the same time brightening it up with different colors! Say goodbye to boring box-like air purifiers, and welcome the visually interesting and colorful Air Wave!

Traditional Styling, Modern Technology

pal_cassette_player_layout

With mobile phones, mp3 players and music streaming services being so readily available now, they quickly forced Cassette Players to become a thing of the past and merely a piece of history. But there are some things that I find charming about the cassette player; from its truthful design through to the limited functionality that forced us to be selective about what we wanted to listen to, it is a device that I miss.

Pal is the music player that brings back all our old memories! It retains the boxy aesthetic of the Traditional Cassette Player while allowing for a more up-to-date listening experience. Contained in the sections where the batteries would usually be housed is a set of Bluetooth headphones, electronic ink is used to display the name of the playlist as opposed to the Biro that we used to use and the traditional array of buttons is still present, but now carry a far sleeker design.

Take your Performance to the Streets

Each time a busker performs, it’s like a small scale and intermate concert in the street. They rely solely on their talent to capture an audience and engage passers-by, so what if there was a product to assist in this?

This is exactly what this compact device aims to do, ‘Busker’ is a portable projector that creates an event right on the side of the street! By projecting images or videos of the Street Musicians previous, larger scale, performances onto the floor it adds another element of interest to the activity and draws passers-by in.

Due to the nature of the environment it’s in it needed to be portable and hardwearing, but the designers didn’t want to compromise on the aesthetic of it. This led to a practical product with a carefully considered, intuitive and minimal design.

A music player with SWAG

You’ll never see a turntable with more of a bad-boy personality than the Dude. Designed to rest against a wall like a real dude would, the turntable comes with a mesh door that holds the vinyl in place, and the needle is built right into the door itself. As the record plays, the needle moves along its slot, looking just simply beautiful. The only control you need is the knob on the side that lets you choose your RPM. If you want to pause your music, just lift the door open and the needle disengages. You’ve got a soft fabric covered speaker right below the turntable, enchanting you with audio while the design of the Dude Turntable captivates your eyes.
