This Hammer Dispenses Nails: Nailed It!

I love any tool that makes projects around the house easier. I mean, having a robot to do all of my projects would be best, but that isn’t happening anytime soon. Besides, you can’t trust a robot with a hammer. But things like this innovative hammer will make life easier.

Designer Michael Young developed this hammer that’s capable of dispensing its own nails – probably because he also has no hammer robot. It dispenses collated framing nails as you need them. This tool should save you a lot of time and energy while doing your work. You just load the nail cartridge in and start hammering. When you need it to dispense a nail, just tap the side of the hammer against a hard surface to set the mechanism, then tap the hammerhead where you want the nail, then drive it in.

It’s a pretty brilliant design, and I can’t wait to buy this one when it hits the market. It might help people to not whack their thumbs when they set nails as well. That happens to me all of the time. Of course, I like to get hammered when hammering, which probably doesn’t help. I guess I thought that was what MC Hammer meant when he said “hammer time.”

I give this product a Thumbs up!

I’m not afraid of admitting that I haven’t been wowed by simple-product design in a while. I opened my mailbox to find that I had to feature the Nail-it on Yanko and I felt my jaw drop a bit. The Nail-it plays on visual metaphors beautifully, creating a product that is just ideal.

Built around an absolutely brilliant idea, the Nail-it is a plastic Pinocchio shaped tool that saves your thumbs from being bruised by gripping onto nails while you hammer them in. The visual pun here is that when you grip the nail with this clever little product, the nail becomes Pinocchio’s nose (that you in turn, hammer in). The Nail-it also helps you hammer the nail perpendicularly, therefore preventing it from getting bent or broken. A perfect product for children with a hankering for tinkering, and for adults who are just kids at heart!

Watch a Nail Turned into a Tiny Sword: Nailed It!

We’ve seen blacksmiths turn pieces of metal into a sword many times, but I bet you’ve never seen them create a weapon from something as tiny as a nail. Hey, mice need weapons too.

This is a fun video that shows Inspire to Make creating a tiny little sword. And before you laugh and say that it can’t hurt anyone, just remember that even needles can kill if inserted in the right area, and splinters hurt like hell. Size matters not.

It is a cute little weapon worthy of any small warrior who has the heart to wield it in battle.

Doctor Who Dalek Nail Art: Davros Nailed It

This 3D Doctor Who nail art is probably how a human/Dalek hybrid would give itself away to the Doctor, as it’s Dalek half began to take over. That would be a cool episode. Also, if we ever get a female Doctor, this might be her manicure of choice.

They look especially menacing on those plastic finger display models. It’s as if the Autons and Daleks have teamed up. Etsy seller GingerdeadHouse sells these Dalek digit designs for $20(USD) for a full set. They are for the discriminating female Whovian who wants very badly to be a Dalek.

As if women’s nails weren’t dangerous enough. Now they can slash and exterminate.

Nokia uses Lumia 900 as a hammer in a torture test, makes us wince (video)

Image

As much as we're familiar with mobile device torture tests, they're normally inflicted by us or otherwise not-so-voluntary. Nokia, however, has stepped up to the plate and doled out the abuse to the Lumia 900 itself with a hammer and nail, all based on a wager that the Windows Phone's use of Gorilla Glass would hold up to Sonim-level punishment. The company's Chris Ruble and Mike Meyers (not that Mike Myers) used a Lumia 710 as a dry run before an on-camera demo that not only saw the 900 assaulted with the hammer, but used as a blunt instrument itself -- all without a crack or scratch. We imagine that other toughened-glass phones would survive the hit, and there's every possibility that smacking the polycarbonate plastic would leave more than a scuff mark. Nokia's test still proves that its pride and joy can withstand more than just a casual roughing up, and you can see the slightly cringe-inducing test in the video below.
