Jurassic Parkour

I always thought those stubby arms on the T-Rex were useless, but it turns out I was completely wrong. They seem to work great for doing all kinds of crazy stunts as shown in this video of the dinosaur performing parkour stunts and just plain being awesome.

Okay, this is technically a guy in a T-Rex suit, but hey, if he can do it in a T-Rex suit, I bet a T-Rex could do these fancy moves too. I would love to see that. I hope that when they clone dinosaurs, they give them all kinds of cool new acrobatic skills so we can have some kick-ass new circus type shows when Jurassic World reopens.

“Light Men” Do Virtual Parkour in Kuala Lumpur

I’ve always had a fascination with parkour. I’m not sure why, but it just looks so awesome. The trouble is that it’s a lot harder than it looks. Thankfully, in this advertisement by Lexus, you won’t have to do any parkour whatsoever.

STROBE was created by Adam Berg, and is part of a series of videos called Amazing in Motion. CGI effects are always impressive, but there’s nothing like filming the real thing. That’s one of the reasons why this video is just plain amazing. In order to pull off the illusion of a single parkour athlete running through the city, multiple LED suits, each containing 1,680 LEDs were used by stuntmen rigged up all over Kuala Lumpur, Indonesia.

Each suit was connected wirelessly to DMX software running on a custom computer rigs, which triggered the strobe on cue in a pattern. A team of 40 engineers worked with the stuntmen, who were hanging all over the city.

Jedi Parkour: The Force is Strong with Their Sneakers

We know from the Star Wars prequels that Jedi Knights actually possess some serious acrobatic skills. But we never saw Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan or Anakin pull off moves as impressive as the guys featured here.

jedi parkour 1

I’m duly impressed by the gymnastic and free-running skills of the Jedi Knights in this clip, created by Ronnie Shalvis of Ronnie Street Stunts, along with Jeremy Carpenter and Sinjin Cooper, whose first name actually sounds like a real Jedi Knight. All he has to do is change his last name to something like “Kann.”

Impressive, no. The only thing missing from that clip is the second sun on Tatooine. And a lightsaber battle. Maybe they’ll make a sequel.

RHex robot uses leaping ability to do ‘Parkour’ (video)

RHex robot now has 'Parkour' talents to go along with leaping ability video

It's easy for a robot to perform in a sterile lab environment, but only a select few devices -- like Boston Dynamics notorious AlphaDog -- have proven themselves in the wild. However, the University of Pennsylvania's X-RHex Lite has also made that leap, as it were, and a new video shows just how talented it's become. In it, the droid puts all of its running, jumping and grabbing talents together to perform flips, chin-ups and even Parkour-like moves over campus obstacles. The researchers hope it'll perform rescue missions or research in tough environments one day, but until then, gaze in awe at the video after the break.

Seeing The World Through Spider-Man’s Eyes

Well, no, Peter Parker hasn’t become a real, live human being and started showing off his radioactively induced super powers in the streets of the cities you and I live in. Some people just like jumping from building to building.

Ethan Swanson, that looks like someone who’s pretty athletic going by ...

Assassin’s Creed Meets Parkour in Real Life the Second Time Around

Assassin's Creed Parkour

Parkour has been around for quite a while now, but it wasn’t until recently that it hit the mainstream. At least, for geeks like us. Skilled freerunner Ronnie Shalvis decided to show off the amazing things you can do with the discipline by combining it with Assassin’s Creed. The result is this awesome video where Connor gives chase to redcoats running away on galloping horses with the less fortunate ones hanging from the trees.

Ronnie’s moves are so smooth that what he’s doing almost looks like a piece of cake. Almost. Hit the break to check out the video and see for yourself.

This is the second Assassin’s Creed and parkour mash-up that Ronnie has filmed. You can watch the first one he made here.

Awesome Traceur Brings Assassin’s Creed to Life with Parkour

Traceur. Defined as a male practitioner of the sport and art that is known as parkour.
Parkour. Defined as a physical discipline of movement that’s focused on overcoming obstacles.

Let’s get on with it now that we’ve got the definitions out of the way.

Assassins Creed Parkour

The world witnessed the sheer awesomeness of the videogame/parkour mashup when a video showcasing the Tempest Freerunning Academy went viral last year. In case you missed it, the academy was actually a gym that was designed to look like Mario Land.

This time around, we’ve got some awesome parkour action in the style of Assassin’s Creed featuring the awesome traceur Ronnie Shalvis and directed by the prolific and talented Devin Graham (aka Devin Supertramp). I’ll probably just ruin it if I try to describe it using mere words, so watch the awesomeness for yourself by checking out video below.

If you want to see how they shot it and pulled off all the stunts, check out the behind-the-scenes footage here:
