You might have to be a die-hard fan to get ‘Star Trek: Picard’

Star Trek: Picard feels like a watershed decision in the streaming TV wars: A show so niche that it cannot possibly find a mainstream audience. I'm not complaining since it seems to have been designed to appeal to my fanboy brain. But is Amazon going...

Patrick Stewart Sings Cowboy Classics: Make it So, Pardner.

Patrick Stewart is a cool dude. I mean, he was Jean-Luc Picard and Professor X after all – putting him high up on the favorite list of many sci-fi geeks. He has something a bit different that has surfaced recently. It’s called Patrick Stewart’s Cowboy Classics.

If you ever wanted to hear Picard sing old western songs, this is your chance. There’s even a promo video, complete with bulls and stuff. It’s both terrible and awesome to behold.

In case you are wondering, you can purchase a sampler of Cowboy Pat’s songs for $10 on cdbaby, with all proceeds going to support the International Rescue Committee. It has five tracks and pre-orders are available on July 13. The sampler includes the Christmas classic Here Comes Santa Claus, destined to be played at every Christmas party a geek attends from the rest of time.

It’s not like this would be the first time a Starfleet Captain recorded a song…

or a science officer for that matter…

Patrick Stewart Really Is the Best Guy Ever

Patrick Stewart is just a super awesome human being. He proves it time and again. He never stops. Check out this photo of the man behind Jean-Luc Picard and Professor X hugging a young fan at Dragon Con. Cool right? Wait until you hear the whole story.

The moment was captured by photographer James Barker, who posted the photo on his Facebook page with the following explanation:

This is my favorite Dragoncon 2014 photo. The Make-a-Wish foundation made it possible for 10 year old Dawn, who has a life threatening illness, to meet Patrick Stewart backstage. He was about to speak to a packed room of 2000 people, but they sat down and he really focused on her; they talked for about 15 minutes. As things are winding down and she and her family are getting ready to go, Dawn unexpectedly throws him this huge hug, and you can see the happiness in both their faces. Bravo Sir Patrick! #classact #patrickstewart #dragoncon

Honestly people, this is the best thing you will see all day. We should all try to live our lives a little more like this man does.

Another intergalactic embarrassment aboard the Enterprise… FACEPALM! Just Jenn created these epic cookies displaying Patrick Stewart’s classic pose of disappointment as Jean Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Perhaps you’re familiar with the meme? If you want to “make it so” you actually can at home with the same cookie cutters she used.
