The Accessport Air brings Bluetooth 5.0 to your trusty wired headphones

The world changed as we knew it in 2016 when Apple announced that their phones would no longer carry the 3.5mm headphone jack. They were obviously pushing for wireless audio, as they also launched the AirPods that year. As with everything Apple does, the entire industry followed, dropping the jack from their smartphones, resulting in an awkwardly high amount of wired headphones now becoming undesirable. See, wired headphones may be a sort of nuisance, but some of the best headphones in the world are wired, not to mention wired earphones are much more reasonably priced than their wireless alternatives.

If you’re like me, and you have a wired headphone that you’d love to use with your smartphone but can’t, the future isn’t too entirely bleak. You can either spring for a dongle, which makes sense for a while, but when you migrate to a new phone from a different company, that dongle is essentially useless… or you can take your old earphones/headphones and turn them wireless. It’s as simple as plugging it into a Bluetooth transmitter, which in this case, is the Accessport Air. Bluetooth transmitters come a dime a dozen but not many of them boast of the kind of features you’d find in the Accessport Air. Built with Bluetooth 5.0, aptX high-resolution audio playback, low latency for gaming, and 9 hours of playback on a single charge, the Accessport Air works with all phones that have Bluetooth and all playback devices.

I ended the last paragraph with the words ‘playback devices’ on purpose. The Accessport Air doesn’t just make your wired headphones or earphones wireless. It works with speakers, amplifiers, and even your car audio system. Basically anything that can connect to the Accessport Air via its 3.5mm audio input can be made wireless. Using the Air is as simple as plugging the playback device in, switching the Air on, and connecting to it with your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. In order to give your playback devices the power of Bluetooth 5.0, the Accessport Air comes with an internal battery that lasts for 9 hours on a single charge. Enough to watch movies, play games, listen to long playlists at the gym, at work, or on the subway, or even connect to your car audio system for those long drives!

The GT-R Uses Multiple Magnets for Stellar Quality Sound

Always the ones to push boundaries, Advanced were the first to foresee the iPhone 7 disappearing headphone jack problem and in turn created the Accessport to not just allow users to plug headphones into mobiles without an audio jack, but also have them listen to their music with amplified greatness, hearing frequencies and notes that often died out because smartphones heavily downsample your music. Now they’re changing the way you directly listen to music with the Advanced GT-R headphones.

Headphones (all speakers in general) are driven by diaphragms made to vibrate via magnets. The strength, nature, and design of the magnet helps add character to your audio. The GT-R headphones sport what’s known as a planar magnetic driver. Reserved for most high-end applications, planar magnetic drivers involve multiple magnets supporting a single diaphragm, resulting in a much more stable set-up that provides, simply put, better sound. While traditional dynamic driver headphones are much more commonplace, their economically viable nature results in trade-offs with regards to sound quality. Planar magnetic drivers are usually slightly on the heavier side, but the sound difference is said to be remarkedly better.

The GT-R headphones come with a design that gives comfort full priority. Designed to be the kind of headphones you would want to wear for long amounts of time, the plush earcups sit around your ear, muffling all external sound, while the self-adjusting suspended head-strap rests comfortably against your head, negating most of the weight of the headphones.

The headphones come with an open back design that allows the GT-R’s imaging to be accurate and realistic. Designed to cut out audio leakage thanks to the single sided nature of the drivers, the GT-R not only traps music inside your headphones, it also blocks all external noise from filtering in. Built with the kind of isolation that will make you forget where you are, and absolutely monstrous 65mm drivers that will transport you to the studio where the music was recorded, the GT-R headphones are designed to give you the audiophile experience, but for the price of a regular set of cans!

Is It Time to Bid Farewell to Vinyl?

mezger_1

While most of your audio playback devices are going wireless, there are some that aren’t. If you’ve got a hi-fi audio setup at home, chances are it still relies on not just a wired connection, but an RCA stereo connection. Audio aficionados will swear by their setup, relying on vinyls for perfect sound instead of their phone or iPod.

We’ve showcased a lot of wireless audio transmitters in the past, but this one is different. It doesn’t transmit, it receives! Imagine one day being able to play back lossless FLAC files from your smart-device on your fancy analog hi-fi sound system! With the Mezger by Advanced, that day is today. It actually uses Bluetooth (upto 100ft) to receive audio data, reproduces it to its highest quality using a Digital-to-Analog converter, and directs it via RCA cables to your left and right speakers. Did I mention, Lossless Audio Playback VIA BLUETOOTH?!

If you’re a complete music buff, chances are you have a vintage amplifier or hi-fi audio system. Even today people believe analog sounds WAY better than digital, which is why you can still buy Vinyl disks. However, it honestly doesn’t seem sensible to have the same audio on vinyl for your home as well as on your phone for listening to while traveling. The Mezger seemingly puts the last nail in the coffin for the vinyl disk, with its ability to wirelessly receive downsampled audio, upsample it, and play it back with that beautiful analogue warmth everybody loves so much!
