Artist Creates Spaceballs Pizza the Hutt Toy Playset

Handcrafted in the style of vintage Kenner Star Wars toys, Retro Custom Art’s andytdesigns made this Spaceballs Pizza the Hutt action toy playset. Andy imagines the toy was made for a national Spaceballs x Pizza Hutt line of toys that were released to the public. I don’t know about you, but I need this in my life. In my office specifically, but only because I know my wife won’t allow it on my nightstand where it actually belongs.

Andy has also made several other custom Spaceballs action figures, most of which are available in his Etsy and eBay stores for around $50 – $75. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the Pizza the Hutt playset for sale (I dug deeper and found out he’s not selling it and only made it for an upcoming art show), which is a shame because that’s the one I wanted the most. Granted, I wouldn’t be able to afford it even if it was listed, but a boy can dream. I’m going to be a space ranger when I grow up!

I guess I’m left with no choice but to make my own. And if my version just so happens to be an actual piece of pizza with a pair of googly eyes stuck in the cheese, so be it. It’s not like my apartment doesn’t already have a rodent problem anyways.

Pizza Hut + Ogilvy designed a limited edition pizza-box with a foosball table built into the lid!

It seems like Pizza Hut and Ogilvy want you to ‘play with your food’, or at least want you to play with the packaging of your food. The two brands collaborated over the launch of a new limited-edition pizza box that comes with an actual foosball table built right into the lid!

The Foosball Pizza Box was created as a warm-up for the Europa League which begins October 22nd (Get it, Warm-up? Pizza?). Wendy Leung, marketing director of Pizza Hut explains, ‘the Pizza Hut Foosball Pizza Box was a great opportunity to remind football fans that pizza goes best with their football. Launched at a time when everyone’s stuck in their houses, the box hopes to drum up enthusiasm, interest, and positivity. While diehard fans are just waiting to go out and support their teams or play their own games of street football, the Pizza Hut Foosball Pizza Box provides a great safe alternative, allowing you to battle it out with your friends in the comfort and safety of your own homes. Winner gets an extra slice, perhaps? And if there’s a tie, just equally divide the pie!

The Foosball Pizza Box is currently only available to pizza-enthusiasts in Hong Kong (although enough enthusiasm could push the companies to roll it out worldwide)… you can shoot your shot at winning your own Foosball Pizza Box by visiting the Pizza Hut app, or leaving a clever comment on Pizza Hut Hong Kong’s Facebook page.

IKEA x Pizza Hut create a special pizza for the real pizza saver tables!

Have you ever wondered why do they place a little table in the center of the pizza? It’s to keep the cheese from sticking to the box but it is a very realistic mini table and I think it would be nice to have some chairs around it. I was clearly not the only one planning a house for Jerry (of the Tom and Jerry fame) because looks like someone at IKEA had the same thought and the iconic pizza table is a REAL THING now (I want it!) that is selling like hot cakes….or hot slices at this point!

We all love this table but we didn’t know we needed it until Ogilvy at Hong Kong rolled out a campaign that invited people like you and me to go into an IKEA store and buy a SÄVA table. Yes, our beloved cheese-protecting table is called the SÄVA and it is the life-size version of the three-legged plastic table on our pizzas. The table comes flat-packed in a pizza box which is really a full-circle (get it?) moment. Also, IKEA has put an end to our assembly woes with this table, it seems to be one of the easiest pieces of furniture to put together. Since IKEA took an element of Pizza Hut, it gave the food company a chance to make pizzas with their famous meatballs and I call that a very fair trade deal! It is truly the best of both worlds – the IKEA meatballs on a Pizz Hut pizza being eaten on the SÄVA table. That scene is mere art and someone has to paint it for the golden times of the Italian-Swedish-American era.

IKEA is no stranger to doing viral collaborations, its one of the reasons for their success because they go after what people think of and make it happen. Let’s continue thinking, IKEA and something from Taco Bell, I am sure they are listening just like they did for my pizza table.

Pizza Hut’s new eco-friendly ’round’ boxes are engineered to make the pizza tastier

That title may be a little too much to digest (wordplay!), so let me break it down for you. Pizza Hut’s new pizza boxes are an absolute culture shift, because they’re now ROUND! These innovative boxes hug the pizza by being the same shape as the pie, and are also designed to be compostable. The round boxes, developed by Zume, comes along with Pizza Hut’s push to make their pizzas more ‘sustainable’. The new range of pizzas that sit inside these UFO-shaped boxes use a special plant-based meat that the company calls “Incogmeato”. The idea to use plant-based meat isn’t new, with Burger King and KFC both looking to lab-grown and plant-based meat alternatives. The box, on the other hand, is interesting, as it not only uses lesser material than its iconic square predecessor, but also comes with a few nifty features. “This revolutionary round box—the result of a two-year journey—is the most innovative packaging we’ve rolled out to date,” said Pizza Hut chief customer and operations officer Nicolas Burquier. “The round box was engineered to make our products taste even better—by delivering hotter, crispier pizzas.” The box even interlocks with boxes underneath it, allowing you to neatly and securely stack them one on top of the other in transit. What a great time to be alive!

Pizza Hut is Exploring Delivery Via FedEx Robot

This summer should be a good one for fans of pizza and robots, as Pizza Hut is planning to test a new way of delivering pizzas. The company will be using an autonomous pizza delivery bot in select markets. This will help improve efficiency and will require less support staff. The pizza chain is is working with FedEx and its SameDay Bot, which is a new autonomous device for same day local deliveries.

The SameDay Bot can navigate difficult terrain, including unpaved surfaces, curbs, and even climb steps so that it can get to your door and deliver hot pizza. But it’s not just pizza that FedEx has its eyes on. FedEx is also working with several other businesses and retailers so that they can make it possible to accept orders from local customers, and quickly deliver products to homes or businesses nearby.

Will pizza delivery guys and gals stalk these robots and beat them with baseball bats? What if it runs out of battery power on your doorstep? Do you get to keep it? Do we have to tip our delivery robots? So many questions.

Pizza Hut Pie Top Sneakers Will Order Pizza for You

Most of us can’t order pizza with our shoes, but the future is coming. Soon, we will all be able to do it. Pizza Hut is bringing back its Pie Tops sneakers, which can order pizza with the press of a button. It uses a Bluetooth connection with your phone and the Pie Tops app. It goes a step further this time though. The Pie Tops II can also pause your TV when your pizza is at the front door so you don’t miss any action on screen.

They introduced their Pie Tops sneakers last year, but this is the first time they can actually be purchased. To celebrate March Madness, Pizza Hut and The Shoe Surgeon are making 50 pairs available on hbx.com on the week of March 19th.Ordering through the shoes gets you a two $5.99 two-topping medium pizza deal throughout the tournament.

More pizza-ordering shoes will come later in the year, so don’t worry if you miss out. Just follow @PizzaHut and @Hypebeast on Twitter for more details. We don’t have a price yet, but I think we all know that they will likely be super expensive. But what is money compared to the ability to order pizza and pause the TV from the comfort of your shoes?
