Hobbit Hole Inspired Children’s Playhouse

Hobbit Holes: everybody wants to live in one. That, or an Ewok village treehouse. And while building your own Hobbit hole home might be out of the question right now on account of adult responsibilities, maybe you can live vicariously through your children with this $1,000 Discovery Nature Play Hideaway from Plum. I can already imagine myself trying to contort my body into it when I think the neighbors aren’t looking.

Not to be confused with these previously seen Hobbit Holes, the playhouse measures 78″ long, 51″ wide, and x 49″ tall when assembled, and has it all: a fabric door covering, wooden letterbox, a curved roof with artificial turf (and liner for adding real turf), screen window that can be painted, a functional bamboo gutter system and planter, exterior arts & crafts/prep table, and bamboo wind chime, making the whole thing significantly nicer than my apartment.

Pretty cool, right? Unfortunately, like so many things designed for children, it’s a shame they don’t make an adult-size version as well. I mean this thing is legitimately Hobbit-sized. Because Hobbits are small. Smurfs too, but they’re even smaller. This would be like a mansion to Smurfs, but a lot of lower back pain and a trip to the chiropractor for me.

Colin Furze Builds 18-Foot Star Wars AT-ACT Playhouse

A giant tall imperial walker playhouse is every kid’s dream. Well, Colin Furze is making dreams come true, because he built one in his backyard for his kids.

This 18 foot-tall walker was built to scale using an AT-ACT toy from Rogue One for reference. An AT-ACT is just like an AT-AT except that it means extra toy money for Hasbro. Its head is a bit different and it has a cargo compartment in its body. The playhouse has a retractable, electric-powered staircase, and an interior full of Star Wars toys and memorabilia.

It towers over some of his neighbor’s houses and looks like it is about to start destroying things. I love the aerial shots of this thing in Colin’s video:

Obviously, it really rocks to have a mad scientist dad like Colin Furze. I’m not sure that his neighbors would agree though.

Millennium Falcon Playhouse May Not Look Like Much, But She’s Got It Where It Counts

Since you were a kid you have wanted nothing more than to sit in front of the controls and be in the Millennium Falcon cockpit. Admit it. Well, now you have no excuse. Build this Millennium Falcon Playhouse for your kid today. They may even let you be the co-pilot. Especially if you dress up like a wookiee.

Use Kyle Gilbert’s Millennium Falcon Cockpit Playhouse as motivation. It is just the cockpit. The ship itself would be massive. But that’s all you need for some fun and imaginative games anyway.

This awesome playhouse was created using MDF, PVC board, Bondo, and some junk drawer odds and ends for the dashboard. There are office chair wheels for knobs, silver-painted dowels for engaging the Hyperdrive and much more. It is a DIY work of geek art. Just seeing the images awakens the kid in me. I want to crawl inside and pretend!

Custom Star Wars AT-ST Cat Playhouse: Return of the Kitt-i

If you have a cat then you know they are just another member of the family. So treat them like it and give them a special playhouse to have fun in. We’ve seen an AT-AT cat condo, now prepare for the ultimate cat vehicle of destruction. The AT-ST cat playhouse.

atst catmagnify

There isn’t much info on this build, but that is one badass cat to have his own AT-ST. He probably pretends that he’s part of an elite squad of cat rebels who get sent in to special situations. Today his mission is to pilot an AT-ST and kill some Ewoks that have allied with the Empire.

It never seems to work out though since he gets distracted too easily. A ball of string here, a mouse there, wet food.

$27,000 Pirate Ship Playhouse, I’m Broke, Matey!

Christmas ho, Captain! I see the big holiday coming off the starboard bow. No, wait, it’s an iceberg! We are are doomed. Well, Christmas is just around the corner and if you are a spoiled rich kid, here is what will be under the tree. Er, maybe you can put the tree inside of this ship.
pirate ship 620x620magnify

This $27,000(USD) Pirate Ship Playhouse from Hammacher Schlemmer is an awesome place for rich kids and their friends to hang out. This 23′ high weather-beaten pirate ship has a cedar and redwood exterior, along with classic pirate decorations. There is a cutlass-bearing skeleton lashed to the bowsprit, a boarded-over cannonball hole, crossed bones that form a window pane, and a crow’s nest with Calico Jack Rackam’s Jolly Roger flag.

The playhouse rests on a hollowed-out five-foot diameter tree trunk that has a ladder inside. You can also enter using the climbing net or the staircase. All interior areas are framed in Douglas fir. No expense (or tree) was spared. If that isn’t enough, the corkscrew tunnel slide extends from the balcony affixed to the stern and a fireman’s pole extends from the bow.

Stupid rich kids have all the fun. Then again, their parents have all the debt, so whatever.

Star Wars AT-ST Cat Playhouse: CAT-ST

I’m pretty sure the battle of Endor would have turned out differently if the AT-STs had been piloted by cats instead of Imperial troopers. Cats don’t fall for all of those old jungle traps. Plus they would just jump out of the vehicles and claw Wicket and his Ewok friends to pieces.

This AT-ST is a cat house. Not that kind of cat house. A cat play house. For a cat named Buffy. Her owner built her a new Star Wars AT-ST playhouse from left over materials from some home renovations. That’s one lucky cat.

Cat AT-STs would have kicked butt on Endor and they could have been controlled from space, where the second Death Star would shine lasers down on targets and watch these kittytroopers pounce on their targets.
