Subscribe to Sony PlayStation Now for great entertainment

If you have always wanted to subscribe to Sony PlayStation Now game streaming service, you are in for some pleasant surprise. From today, you will be able to so the service for just $9.99 a month. Previously, the monthly subscription was $19.99, which was way above what competitors like Amazon or Google charge. Sony revealed in a press release that the subscription rate-cut was implemented in order to play catch-up with other entertainment streaming services. Considering how popular PlayStation always has been, and how subscribing to its cloud version seemed out of reach for most people, this is a great opportunity.

Sony PlayStation Now seems to be considering completion in the market

There are many video and musicstreaming services such as Netflix, Apple Music, Amazon Prime, etc. However, video game streaming services are far and few, and Sony PlayStation Now can beconsidered one of the pioneers in this area. It was launched in 2014 to little competitionbut all that is going to change very soon. Google plans to launch Stadia, itsvideo game streaming service this November.

If you purchase a game on Google, this service will be free for you. Microsoft’s Xbox team plans to test its ownstreaming service, Project xCloud, this month. Electronic Arts started testingits service last year. It is not clear at the moment how much these twoservices will cost subscribers but it can be surmised that the pricing strategywill be competitive.

With so many streaming servicesin the pipeline, one might wonder if people are actually ready to subscribe todifferent services. Many insiders feel that people may experiencesubscription-fatigue, and may simply revert to old school methods of consumingentertainment.

Preorder the Sony PlayStation Classic at Target Right Now

This is the heyday for retro gaming with mini console remakes. Nintendo kicked things off with the NES Classic and sold tons of those machines. It followed up with the SNES Classic, and rumor has it that a GameCube Classic could be in the works now too. Sony wanted in on the mini console revival, and recently announced its PlayStation Classic Edition for Christmas 2018. The good news is that you can now get in on the action and pre-order your console at Target.

The console sells for $99.99 and comes pre-loaded with 20 games, including Final Fantasy VI, Jumping Flash!, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. It also has a pair of controllers for competitive action, and includes an HDMI cable and USB cable in the box – though for some reason Sony doesn’t include an AC adapter in the box.

We mentioned before that the PS Classic is expected to sell millions of units this holiday season. Sony seems very confident it can meet demand, but you never know, so you’d be wise to pre-order anyhow. The official launch date for the PlayStation Classic is December 3. Pre-orders will be delivered on or shortly after December 2.

Sony PS4 Pro: Get The Price and Release Date Here

Sony today announced a new model of its PlayStation 4 console, specifically targeted at those looking for the best possible image quality from their game systems. The highlight of the PS4 Pro (rumored to be called the “PlayStation Neo”) is its ability to render games in 4K and with high dynamic range visuals.

PS4 Lead Architect Mark Cerny explained that the system’s upgraded GPU, faster CPU and faster memory will allow the PS4 Pro to not only render 4K gaming and video, but to offer enhanced visual effects and frame rates, thanks to the more powerful hardware.

At its core, it’s still a PS4, so the new console can play all existing games, and a combination of technologies, such as anti-aliasing and upscaling will also make current 1080p games look sharper on 4K displays. The system will offer support for 4K video streaming services from Netflix and YouTube to start, but unlike the Xbox One S, it won’t play UHD Blu-ray disks, which I think is a bit of a misstep.

While some gamers were hoping the system would come with massive 2TB or 3TB hard drive, the PS4 Pro will ship with a 1TB drive. I assume that’s part of how they kept the price down. Speaking of price, the PS4 Pro is competitively priced, launching at just $399 – the same price that the original PS4 launched at. Sony says the new system will be available on November 10, 2016. For those looking for a regular PS4, there’s also a slimmed down version of the standard PS4 coming out on September 15 for $299, with a 500GB hard drive, and a decidedly less exciting industrial design than the original PS4.

As is always the case with HDR content, it’s hard to see how it will look without an HDR-capable display. But if you want a tease of what the improved game visuals on the PS4 Pro will look like, check out the 4K gaming videos below:

Sony PlayStation VR System Gets a Launch Date and Price

PlayStation VR is Sony’s virtual reality headset that is set to compete with the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. They have been working on this VR system for a while and many are already set to buy it no matter the cost, but there has been one problem that we all have. They have not given us a release date. Well, now we have some more info on Sony’s VR offering.

At their 2016 E3 press conference, Sony announced that PS VR will be available starting October 13, 2016 for $399(USD). That should get it nicely in place for the holiday shopping season. They should sell a ton too, because it is significantly less than either competitor, not to mention the fact that many of us already own the required PS4. Chances are that the $399 only gets you the headset, as Sony already started taking pre-orders for a launch bundle back in March that includes a pair of Move controllers, a PlayStation camera and VR Worlds for $500.

Sony has also promised that they have over 50 VR capable games that will be released between October and the end of the year. It looks like one of those is Star Wars: Battlefront X-Wing Mission, and there’s a special version of Batman: Arkham Asylum coming as well.
