Technabob Welcomes Writer Stirling Matheson

Stirling Matheson is a California native and the son of a punk singer/guitarist and a painter/stylist, and proud owner of one of the world’s unlikeliest resumé. Since graduating from Butler University with a BA in Dance, he’s has worked as a classical ballet dancer and a writer, and is currently working for Complex Magazine, Technabob, and as the Artistic Director of Ballet Theatre of Indiana.

Stirling has been writing about cars since January of 2009 and made a career by giving an honest and sometimes sarcastic opinion, even when it made PR people angry.

Although his name is Stirling, with an “i,” he’s not named for Sir Stirling Moss, not that he’d mind.

He is into peak lapels; elegant weapons; rally cars; semicolons; hats; games, electronic and tabletop; and anything that could be associated with the phrase “British gentleman.” He spend his spare time (all six yearly minutes of it) practicing Taoist and Scottish martial arts, relaxing and dancing with his wife, playing the odd video game (Lots of TF2), and being ambushed by his cat.

The renaissance man that he is, Stirling will be writing about games, gadgets, cars, and other cool and unusual goodies he digs up.

Most Popular Posts of 2012

Well another year is over, and it was loaded with triumph and tragedy as usual. But as usual, humankind persevered – at least when it came to their gadgets and geekery.

All tolled, we published over 3,700 posts this year, bringing our total since we launched in 2006 up to over 14,200 posts. And that’s just one of our two sites! We know that not all of you visit Technabob every day (we wish you would – so why not subscribe to our RSS Feed?), so in case you missed any of our biggest stories, here are the 30 most popular articles we posted in 2012…

As you can see, there’s a pretty good variety of stuff, ranging from gadgets and video games, to geeky costumes, to the funny and just downright weird on the list. There’s also a typically large volume of Apple tech, and an atypically large amount of Assassin’s Creed stuff. Guess you guys couldn’t get your fill of Connor/Ratonhnhaké:ton this year.

Technabob continues to grow thanks to you guys. We ended the year with over 8.2 million unique visitors, and just over 15 million pages viewed on the site during 2012. And since we launched in 2006, we’ve had over 30 million unique visitors and 54 million pageviews. The mind boggles.

Thanks for another great year! Be sure to stop back by in 2013 for all sorts of cool stuff.

Happy Thanksgiving from Robo-Turkey!

It’s rare that we take a day off here at Technabob, but instead of researchin’ and ‘ritin (and ‘rithmatic) we’re going to gather ’round the table for some turkey, gravy, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, pie, more pie, and any other carbs we can get our hands on today.

In the mean time, enjoy this little interlude, courtesy of Mythbusters’ Robo-Turkey and share it with your friends and family…

That said, have a happy Turkey Day with you and your loved ones, and we’ll see you back here on Friday! Gobble, gobble!
