‘Ugly’ is a stunning short built on glitch-riddled simulations

Ugly is a film built on beautiful contradictions. The characters have odd, blocky proportions and stumble around like a group of drunk boxers. The town, too, is comprised of weirdly angular cars, buildings, bicycles and trash bags. There's a consiste...

Real Griswold Family Builds Station Wagon from National Lampoon’s Vacation

It was 1983 when National Lampoon’s Vacation arrived. That was when we met the Griswolds, a typical American family, with a bumbling dad, who loved to take road trips; journeys across the country on the open road. In the beginning of the movie, Clark Griswold buys a huge and pretty ugly station wagon for the journey, and now someone has made it for real.

The Griswold’s hideously stupid car was called the Wagon Queen Family Truckster. It was a funny comment on all of those awful faux wood-paneled station wagons of the ’70s and ’80s. The movie people built the Truckster from a 1979 Ford LTD Country Squire.

Now Steve and Lisa Griswold (I’m not kidding – that is their real last name) built a replica of the Truckster out of a 1984 Ford LTD Country Squire, and take it on road trips. Let’s hope that Steve is not as inept and bumbling as Clark. No detail has been overlooked. It even has a fake gas cap hatch where it was in the movie. Check out more here.

Firefly Ugly “Sweater” T-Shirt Goes Good with Jayne’s Hat

This Firefly t-shirt may not be ugly, but it is done in the ugly sweater style. It’s actually shiny. It would look good with Jayne Cobb’s hat too.

In fact, it looks like something Ma Cobb would knit for her boy to keep him warm while out in the cold of space. It features Serenity herself, some Cobb hats, Mal’s blaster and the sudden but inevitable betrayal of dinosaurs.

This shirt is a limited edition, so if you want one you better get one quick. It will only cost you $14.95(USD) from QMX. It makes the perfect Christmas gift for your fellow geeks too.

Anna Kendrick Wore Ugly Dress at the Oscars

Some people just don’t have any fashion sense! That is so even if they happen to be the topmost actresses with fit and buff bodies to match their acting chops. Take the sad and tragic case of...

Ugly Models Agency: Because Beauty Is in the Eye of the Beholder

It’s about time someone went ahead and created a modeling agency for unusual looking or not-so-very appealing people. In other words, I guess you could consider them physically ugly on some levels.

No, in case you’re wondering, I’m not kidding, because the Ugly Models Agency is very real and is actually representing a number of very ugly unusual-looking people.

Ugly People Modeling AgencyBeauty is subjective and oftentimes, it’s judged only skin-deep. While the people on this agency’s roster aren’t too pretty on the outside (and how can they be, with the poses and expressions they’re comically wearing on their faces?), I think it’s worth saying that they’re most probably very nice and very beautiful people on the inside.

ugly models too

Even if they might not have the most conventionally appealing looks, at least we all know they have a good sense of humor. If they didn’t, I doubt they’d actually go and get themselves represented by said agency in the first place.

The Ugly Modeling Agency specializes in casting unusual looks for TV, movies, print, video and other media, and has been featured on National Geographic’s show Taboo.

Verizon’s Galaxy Note II purportedly poses for the camera, over-branding included

Verizon's Galaxy Note 2 purportedly poses for the camera, over-branding included

Phablet lovers on Verizon may have reason to rejoice, because the carrier's variant of the Galaxy Note II may have been captured in the flesh. The white device is aesthetically identical to the version straight from Samsung's house, save for its questionable carrier-branding. While the back of the phone sports a seemingly legit "Verizon 4G LTE" logo along with its moniker, you'll notice a rather obnoxiously-planted "Verizon" logo on its home button -- perhaps a bit too ridiculous to be the real deal. That said, it's almost certain that the Note II will officially make it to Verizon, no matter if it's dressed like the photos above or not; this purported variant lines up nicely with screenshots leaked earlier this week showing AT&T and Verizon compatibility. Now, if only we could have further confirmation -- perhaps in the way of a second visit to the FCC in the near feature or some leaky memos.

[Thanks, Sean P.]

Sony and Simon Cowell intro X-Factor-themed MDR-X10, celebrity headphones officially jump the shark for $300

Sony and Simon Cowell intro XFactorthemed MDRX10, celebrity headphones officially jump the shark for $300

We're still wrapping our heads around this, but Sony and Simon Cowell have officially decided to join the celebrity-endorsed headphone bandwagon. Dubbed as the MDR-X10, the X-Factor-themed cans are certainly late to the party, but the vibrant red and silver color theme will ensure they get noticed -- and we're not saying that's a good thing. $300 snags you the extra-sparkly circumaural earmuffs, an even more sparkly case and a duo of flat, tangle-resistant locking cables (one of which features a "made for iDevice" inline remote and mic). Unsurprisingly, the X10 is geared toward pumping out gobs of bass, being essentially a re-badge of the likes of Sony's XB800 from its Extra Bass headphone lineup. We had the opportunity to give Cowell's new headgear a fair amount of listening time, so jump past the break where we'll judge its brief audition.
