Star Ducks: The Next Generation

Do you know what would have Star Trek: The Next Generation even better? If the entire crew was made up of ducks. Well, thanks to the guys at Numskull, that can now be a reality. That is, assuming, that your reality is played out with action figures on a cardboard cutout of the bridge of the Enterprise.

The series of TUBBZ collectible figures includes duck versions of Jean Luc Picard, Deanna Troi, Geordi La Forge, and Worf. They look so much better as ducks than as humans if you ask me. I’m only disappointed that they didn’t give them new duck names. I guess I have to do all the work. Let’s go with Jean-Luc Canard, Deanna Decoy, Geordi a l’Orange, and Worf, because I couldn’t find my Klingon-to-Duck dictionary.

You can pre-order all four figures from Just Geek for $12.99 each, or two for $20. While you’re there, you can grab some Original Series duck figures.

The Office Possum Will Keep Unwanted People out of Your Cubicle

I’d prefer that companies let people continue to work from home until we have an effective COVID-19 vaccine, but some people are having to go into their offices already. While I hope that people are following social distancing and mask rules, some people will always be scofflaws. If you want to make sure no unmasked sickies poke their heads into your cubicle, then you need an effective deterrent. The Office Possum should do the trick quite nicely.

Made by purveyors of weird and wacky stuff Archie McPhee, the Office Possum is a 15″ tall latex replica of a possum that’s perfect for scaring people away from your stuff. With its beady eyes, lanky pink tail, gnarly teeth, and scratchy claws, it’s a great impediment to those who try and enter your personal space.

This guy even has bendable paws and tail, so you can pose it just how you like. Whether you poke its head out of a garbage can or leave it on its back on the floor like roadkill, it’s sure to disgust and freak out all who dare to cross its path.

Best of all, this thing doesn’t smell or spread rabies, so you can keep it in your office all year long. You can get your own Office Possum over at Archie McPhee for just $23.95. I think you should buy a bunch and block the entire entrance to your space with them.

Mario Meets Léon The Professional

One of my favorite movies of all time is Léon: The Professional. Not only was it the big screen debut of Natalie Portman, but she played a complete badass in the film, which she starred in at age 12, but it was helmed by the wonderfully over-the-top French director Luc Besson. The film is packed with insane amounts of violence and destruction, as Portman’s character Mathilda becomes sidekick to hitman Jean Reno’s Léon.

On a completely unrelated note, I also love Super Mario Bros., which – on the surface – appears to have nothing in common with The Professional other than the large amount of killing that goes on – though in Nintendo’s case, the violence is against Koopas and Piranha Plants. Perhaps seeing those tentative parallels, the toy designers at Fools Paradise decided to combine the two.

The one issue with their stock version of the toys is that Mathilda has been give the blond hair and blue eyes of Princess Peach, so they went ahead fixed that with their “Director’s Cut,” bestowing her with a look much more screen accurate to Portman with her dark hair and brown eyes. The new look is much more serious, and better suits the feel of the film.

There’s also a blacked-out version of Boo, Bullet Bill, and that killer plant along for the ride. This set of custom vinyl figures is something I would thrilled to have in my collection, but sadly it appears the toys are already sold out.

NFL Dak Prescott Cowboys Pop! Figure Won’t Win the Funko Superbowl

Colorado is a strange place for weather. One day it’s 98-degrees and sunny, the next, baseball size hail is crushing everything, and the next, you wake up and it’s 40-degrees out and the leaves are changing colors. Cooler days and the end of summer mean football season is coming.

Being a Texas native, I’m all in on the Dallas Cowboys (Go to hell, Broncos!) even though they haven’t been that great for much of my adult life. I hold out hope that one day America’s Team will get back to winning ways. Cowboy’s fans needing a geeky collectible will want to get Funko’s Dak Prescott Cowboys Pop! vinyl figure.

Like the real Prescott, the chances of this Pop! figure winning a Superbowl are nil. At least you can throw this one across the room when the boys lose a game without anyone hating on you. Entertainment Earth will have the figure next month for $10.99.

Game of Thrones Dorbz Figures: Big Heads are Coming

Fans of the HBO series Game of Thrones who need to get their hands on some collectibles to show the world their fandom will want to check these Funko Dorbz action figures. They 3″ tall figures all have disproportionately big heads, stout little bodies, and skinny slits in place of eyes.

While Ned Stark, Jon Snow, and the Night’s King all are pretty grumpy looking, Daenerys Targaryen is smiling because she knows how hot she is and has dragons. Tyrion Lannister is smiling too, and you would be too if you were the god of tits and wine.

Each of the action figures sells for $9.99(USD) over at the HBO Shop. I want to know where the larger dragon action figures are so I can fly the Mother of Dragons. Also, why isn’t Tyrion smaller than the others.

Funko Fallout Mystery Minis Won’t Need Radaway

I’m a big fan of Fallout and have played the series for years. I’m Jonesing badly to get hands on Fallout 4, but I haven’t had time yet. ThinkGeek has some cool new collectibles that will be perfect stocking stuffers for Fallout fans.

The Funko Mystery Minis: Fallout edition has 12 different mini Fallout figures, measuring 2.5″ tall each. The collection includes Vault Boy perks, game characters, and enemies. The coolest is the Power Armor character.

Of course, the collectibles are blind boxed. That means you will have to spend wantonly to get all of them, and you will end up with a bunch of duplicates.
