Voice & Motion Activated Stickers Are Perfect for Office Pranksters

Too many of today’s pranks are cruel or downright mean. I prefer old school pranks, which are a bit more lighthearted, and not likely to end with you or your victim getting a punch in the face or a kick in the groin. These prank stickers should do the trick just fine.

From the office microwave to the street corner newspaper machine, these stickers instantly transform everyday objects into “smart” ones, adding Voice or Motion control. Well, they don’t really do that, but they’ll certainly convince more gullible people that they are capable of these high tech feats. Watch in amusement as your co-workers yell at the Keurig, or flail their hands wildly at the water fountain.

They’re sold in a pack of 50 (25 of each design) for just $10(USD), so you’ll have enough to label all of your cans of soda, along with the cat if you want.

Voice Activated Smart Garbage Cans: Talking Trash

Aside from being able to press a lever with your foot and lift the lid, trash cans really haven’t changed much over the years. Well, one company is building a better trash can. Simplehuman is a California-based brand that specializes in bath, beauty and kitchen accessories.

They already released a smart garbage can a few years ago that could be opened when it sensed movement in front of it. Now they are taking things one step further and they will soon be showing a new version that can be opened with a voice command.

This should make life easier for everyone and your hands won’t get as germy and gross from opening and closing waste containers. You can check them out at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. Be sure to tell them they have nice cans.

Redmond seems to have more grandiose ideas for Connected Car than it's let on before, judging from a recent help wanted ad on its site. Reading more like PR for its car-based plans, the job notice waxes poetically about using "the full power of the Microsoft ecosystem" in an upcoming auto platform with tech such as Kinect, Azure, Windows 8 and Windows Phone. Those products would use face-tracking, speech and gestures to learn your driving habits and safely guide or entertain you on the road, according to the software engineer listing. It also hints that everything would be tied together using Azure's cloud platform, so that your favorite music or shortcuts would follow you around, even if you're not piloting your own rig. All that makes its original Connected Car plans from 2009 seem a bit laughable -- check the original video for yourself after the break.
