Seletti LVDIS Marble Fitness Equipment inspired by ancient Rome

LVDIS Seletti Alessandro Zambelli Marble Fitness Equipment Design

Working out doesn’t have to be boring, especially now there is plenty of tools, equipment, shoes, and athleisure wear available on the market. The gym equipment industry has come to a point where brands and manufacturers can design the products as they please.

Your dumbbells and plates for weight lifting shouldn’t just remain black. The material doesn’t always have to be always metal either, as alternatives are available. We are still raving about the Kenko Sports Equipment because of its minimalist aesthetic and sustainable approach. There was also the Hi Moon Kettlebell that could very well be mistaken for a wireless speaker. The products may be taken over soon by the marble equipment series from Seletti.

Designed by Italian designer Alessandro Zambelli, these marble weights are a sight for sore eyes. And, if you’re tired of the smelly and rusty weights in your home gym, you may consider the marble. The set is one-of-a-kind as we’ve never really imagined marble could be used.

The inspiration for the Seletti LVDIS Marble Weights is ancient Rome. It makes sense since sports used to be very important in ancient Rome and Greece. The ancient games would draw big crowds for centuries, and to copy the experience, the LVDIS is here to offer inspiration.

LVDIS (ludis) means “sports” in Latin, so this set of marble weights has everything to do with sports. Unfortunately, some people forget that weightlifting is a sport, but LVDIS will change all that. And even if you don’t lift weights or are not interested in getting fit, you can still have these dumbbells to display at home.

Showing off a beautiful set of marble weights seems pretentious, but that’s what excellent design delivers—inspiration. So display the LVDIS somewhere at home; maybe you’ll be inspired to get moving finally. Each piece is beautifully made with immaculate white marble and appears like a piece of art you may want to showcase.

The Seletti LVDIS series of marble weights can be considered art. They are sculptural in many ways while still being utilitarian. This isn’t the first series designed by Zambelli for Seletti. She has previously designed tableware and other decorative objects for the brand that connects design to pop art. A few years ago, we saw the Woodspot Lamp that we mentioned could hit the right spot.

Seletti believes in blending art with daily life icons and allowing a vision for a unique yet fun lifestyle. Seletti’s idea of beauty involves innovation at originality, which is an ongoing journey. We can expect more similar products with minimalist aesthetics will be conceptualized and manufactured.

Hyperbells Turn Your Existing Dumbbells ‘Into a Full Home Gym’

Because less is more, Hyperbell is a modular clamp system designed for turning existing dumbbells into barbells and kettlebells. It is NOT for turning existing dumbbells into doorbells – that would take something else entirely. Something I’m already hard at work developing.

Currently an extremely well-funded Kickstarter campaign (over $425,000+ pledged of their $20,000 goal), $159 will get you both a Hyperbell Kettlebell and Hyperbell Bar, which can quickly convert any single dumbbell into a kettlebell, and any two dumbbells into a barbell/curl bar. I can already close my eyes and see my Hyperbell system in the corner of my basement collecting dust with the rest of my unused exercise equipment.

Obviously, the concept is to replace (or have no need to buy) all the individual different weighted kettlebells and barbell plates a person may need for their workouts, and instead only require a set of dumbbells (the system also works with adjustable weight dumbbells, e.g. BowFlex’s SelectTech). A pretty clever idea, both for space-saving and money-saving purposes. I thought about buying one, but my wife told me that the only workout I’ll likely ever get from the purchase is removing the Hyperbells from the packaging. She knows me so well.

SmartTools’ updated weight lifting cuffs are cheaper and more durable

Bench pressing 200 pounds is cool, if you're into that, but it can put a strain on your limbs. SmartTools has an alternative. The company's SmartCuffs, blood flow restriction training (BFR) cuffs, let you lift less weight and see the same gains. Whil...

Can Free Weights be Cute?!

matryoshka_05

These innovative fitness free weights take inspiration from an unlikely, surprising source – matryoshka Russian nesting dolls! Like the doll-in-doll system, additional weight can be added by nesting the weights together. With a quick snap-in/snap-out mechanism, you can transition from light to heavy in seconds to accommodate your workout routine without interruption. When you’re finished lifting and want to squeeze in some cardio, the handles double as a jump rope by connecting an included cord. Better yet, they make a cute desktop trinket when you’re not using them!

Knowledge is Power

1

The Knowledge is Power dumbbell set is a part of the “semi-cooked design” trend – the kind of design that employs ‘found’ objects – in other words, ready-made ingredients you can buy yourself, arrange according to the blueprints, and put them to use! Just like cooking! Whether you’re a reader looking to get fit, or a meathead looking to give your brain a workout… they’re made to inspire!

Zombie Head Kettle Bells: Undead for the Unfit

If you are looking to get in shape and have a constant reminder of why you are bothering (the impending zombie apocalypse) try these awesome zombie head kettle bells.

zombie kettle bells 1 620x490magnify

They come in 18, 36, 54 and 72-lb weights and each has a different zombie head. If you are going to workout and get those muscles ready for swinging an axe or hammer at the undead, you might as well look at their faces while you are getting buff.

Bonus: If you don’t get entirely ripped from your workout with these kettle bells, or have just been too lazy to use them as they sit on your floor, you can use them as weapons. I’m sure that with enough force these will crack through the side of a zombie head like Gallagher smashing through a watermelon.

They will cost you $42.95 to $169.95(USD) each, or $406.41 for the complete set.

Not-So-Dumb Dumbells

The original idea for the Quick Click weights came from the designer’s wife noticing that in her weight training classes, other women were struggling with the old-school way of changing weights with clamps and springs which interrupted the flow of the workout. This redesign maximizes the effectiveness of the workout, making it possible to quickly transition between weights by simply using the built in hand grips to drop and add weight. Better yet, the entire system of barbell and weights is stackable and takes up way less room than conventional sets, making it perfect for compact spaces.
