The Invader Whisk looks like aliens redesigned our kitchen tools

The Invader Whisk looks like aliens redesigned our kitchen tools

There’s a particular short film in the Netflix anthology Love Death and Robots that’s about yogurt taking over the world. Scientists somehow managed to make yogurt sentient, and gave it incredible problem-solving abilities. A jar of yogurt began solving complex problems humans couldn’t, and eventually became president of USA.

Jaro Kose’s Invader whisk has little to do with the story above, but I often wonder how our world would look if another sentient being (not necessarily milk-based) looked at our lifestyle, our products, and our ways of problem solving and came up to us and said “You’re clearly bad at this, let me handle it”. The Invader whisk looks almost as if it was designed with a similar outlook. More organic and less complicated than your regular hand-cranked whisk, Kose’s Invader whisk doesn’t look particularly man-made. With a weird alien-octopus-ish form, and a radically different hemispherical radial gear, the Invader whisk looks great, and probably performs better than its dull, metal, man-made counterpart. I wonder what this alien-species will re-design next…

A bottle for your whisk-list wish-list

You wouldn’t expect any compromise in the whisking department from a company that literally calls itself Whiskware. They design bottles that can efficiently whisk, mix, incorporate, and blend ingredients kept inside them. Inspired by spray paint cans that contain a marble inside that when shaken, agitates the paint, mixing it up, these bottles do the same, using something they like to call a BlenderBall.

Modeled after a whisk, this wire ball fits inside this Dressing Bottle. The bottle is used for storing and pouring vinaigrettes and dressings. When made to stand too long, oftentimes ingredients (especially oil) separate out, forming layers. When shaken well, the blender ball churns all the ingredients together, not only making the dressing consistent, but also emulsifying the mixture beautifully. The result? Lip-smacking salad dressings that feel like cream against the tongue! The bottle is made for direct pouring, and can be pulled apart completely for easy cleaning either by hand, or in the dishwasher. Whiskware makes Pancake Batter bottles and Egg Mixer bottles featuring the BlenderBall too.

If it gets us closer to brownies it’s a good thing!

To keep it short and oh-so-sweet, Blisk takes the hard work out of mixing fine ingredients. Traditional countertop mixers are often large, cumbersome and messy, but Blisk is easy to use and only slightly larger than the average spatula. Controlled with a simple pair of +/- buttons, the spin speed can be set with the push of a finger to ensure you get the perfect mix. When your creations are finished baking, just give Blisk a rinse, scoop em’ up and enjoy!

The Eggstractor

I’m totally trademarking that name BTW! Separating egg whites from the yolk can take some serious skill! That is… unless you have this modern whisk by Ivan Zhang. By slightly modifying the shape with a circular indention, the whisk catches the yolk, allowing the white to drip down. The whisk can then be used as normal to beat the eggs or stir your mixture. It makes separating effortless and better yet, keeps your hands clean of egg goo!
