6 Best Horror Video Games to Get Into the Halloween Mood

Resident Evil 7 BiohazardResident Evil 7 Biohazard

Halloween isn’t too far away, and a great way to get into the holiday spirit is playing some scary video games. The Evil Within 2, Dead by Daylight, Resident Evil 7 and Friday the 13th are sure to give you the creeps in Halloween 2017, and maybe get you through the weekend if you’re not going to a party.

The Evil Within 2

The sequel to the 2014 hit, The Evil Within 2 is a horror survival game which brings us back to Sebastian Castellanos, as he descends into the world of Union to save his daughter. The game is available on the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Dead by Daylight

Another survival horror game, Dead by Daylight is about a group of four survivors trying to elude a killer in an enclosed area at night time. The survivors are played from a third person POV, the killer from a 1st person point of view. It’s Dead by Daylight is available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Friday the 13th: The Game

A multiplayer game that does a pretty good job of capturing the feel of the 1980’s and the movie franchise, it enables one player to take control of Jason Voorhees while others play the camp counselors, who are trying to escape. Friday the 13th: The Game is available on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

In Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, you take control of Ethan Winters, as he fights the Baker family while looking for his wife Mia. You can get the game on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Darkwood

A slightly different take on the survival horror genre, Darkwood takes you to the Soviet Bloc, where the player has to work hard during the day to make sure he/she survive the night. You can get it on Steam.

Outlast Trinity

Outlast tells the story of Blake Langermann, with a found footage style, as he and his wife Lynn take risks as their investigative nature puts them through plenty of mortal danger. You can buy Outlast Trinity for the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Observer

Observer takes the Survival horror genre into the future, 2084 to be exact. The game includes brain hacking, augmented reality and a lot of detective stuff, for those who prefer to chase and not be chased. You can buy Observer for the PlayStation 4.

The Best Upcoming Games for Xbox One For The Rest Of 2015

Upcoming Games for Xbox One 2015 Halo 5

This is a fantastic time to be an Xbox Fan as the good games just keep coming. With Halo, Tomb Raider and Fallout 4 you have a fantastic next couple months to look forward to.

2015 will go down as one of the best years for video games in recent memory, and the next couple of months will bring no less than euphoria to Xbox fans as fantastic titles are dropping to top it all off. Besides the fantastic games that you can play on your Xbox One console right now (out of which we want to give shoutouts to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, The Witcher 3, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection), you will get to play awesome action games, with addictive multiplayer and some of the best graphics yet.

Fallout 4

People have been waiting for a new Fallout game for years, and now Fallout 4 is finally among us! In this game, players will get to explore a nuclear wasteland around Boston with their doggy companion, and explore locales such as MIT and Fenway park among many others. This game is coming out on November 10th 2015 for PC, Xbox One and PS4 simultaneously, but the Xbox One version is the best one for it includes the beloved Fallout 3 bundled along with this game so you can revisit Washington DC for some nostalgia now that the Xbox One is backwards compatible.

Halo 5: Guardians

The latest Halo game, Halo 5: Guardians, comes with a revamped story mode with many NPCs and different points of view for an epic, over-arching story (both with Master Chief and the newcomer Spartan Locke). Yet, the main draw has always been the multiplayer, and besides bringing back the traditional matches, Halo 5 will have cooperative, huge maps where teams can fight each other and even bosses as if they were playing a MOBA. The greatest Xbox franchise is back, and all seems to point out it will be bigger than ever. Halo 5: Guardians will release exclusively for the Xbox One on October 27th, 2015, and there is a fantastic bundle including the console along with the game in case you were waiting for the new Halo to make the jump.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Rise of the Tomb Raider is, as of now, an Xbox One / Xbox 360 exclusive coming out on November 10th 2015, but a PC version will follow some months later, and there will be a PS4 version dropping eventually, sometime in 2016. Regardless, Lara Croft’s latest adventure is a direct continuation of the previous game, a transition where we see a young girl becoming the absolute badass that the Lara we grew up with is. This new story will have her exploring icy mountain ranges, ranging tombs, shooting enemies, and making the character grow some more. There is also a really good bundle including both the game and the console, for those fans that haven’t yet jumped to the new generation.
