The Flock by 3M and SWNA is a chandelier that showcases beauty in chaos

It would be absolutely normal for you to think of the Flock as a bunch of haphazardly dangling wires if you saw it switched off. However, that impression is completely flipped when the Flock is switched on. Designed as a lighting fixture for 3M’s Optic Fiber Light String, the Flock creates beauty in haphazardness. What looks like an untidy mess of wires is instantly transformed into strips of light bouncing from one place to another.

The Flock is a singular piece made using multiple bulb fixtures connected to each other with optical fiber cables. It doesn’t have a shape of its own, but rather develops its form based on how and where you fix each bulb fixture. The gravity and tension allow the cables to form their own curves, creating lighting that’s unique to your space. Because of its characteristics as an optical fiber (primarily used in automobiles or as light fixtures during construction), Flock enables ordinary customers to cut and join the product easily, determining the length of the optical fiber cable. When finally plugged in, the cables self-illuminate, thanks to their high internal reflective properties. Combine that with the Flock’s flexibility and you can have lighting that not only accounts for high and low ceilings but even chandelier designs that can work around corners, creating a single light-piece that covers one end of a hallway to another!

Ideas come and go. The Post-It Extreme goes nowhere!

post_it_extreme_1

There’s always one guy in the office who has no regard for refrigerator or microwave ethics. You need to make sure you write your name on your food or it disappears… or you’re left with a funky microwave because someone heated leftover seafood in it. Next time, you can just leave a post-it note around and know that rules will be followed. Post-It Extreme was made for this express purpose. Meant more for leaving notes that stick longer than for your impromptu brainstorming sessions, the Extreme 3″ x 3″ sticky notes are water resistant and durable. Sporting the same repositionable glue like its predecessor, the Extreme notes won’t crumple or peel off due to moisture, making them perfect for use not only on the outside but even inside the fridge, or in the shower to remind bae to clean up the residual hair after a bath. Avoid confrontation… leave a friendly, durable reminder!

3M’s ePrivacy Filter Software Will Keep Your Private Things Private

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of 3M for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

You’re an exemplary employee, handing in your reports on time, showing up to all the meetings and contributing to your company’s smooth running just as much as the next guy.  But you’re also a human being with normal distractions, and desires to look at a few non-work-related things on your computer now and then.  Nothing wrong with that, especially if you’re productive to start with; your private life is your business and should remain yours.  3M already makes a Privacy Filter film that limits the viewing angle on your computer screen, so that only you can see what’s going on and not those to the sides.  And now they’re introducing ePrivacy Filter Software that further enhances what the filter does.

 photo ScreenShot2014-10-21at95714AM_zpsb2eb4d87.png

Using your PC’s webcam, the new software uses facial recognition technology to detect when you’re looking at the screen, automatically blurring everything when you walk away from your desk.  Even more impressively, it can detect when someone other than you is creeping up behind you and alerts you with an on-screen pop-up!  If you’re reading an important personal email, you don’t want Silent Jim to hover behind your shoulder and read it too!  With the 3M ePrivacy Software and the 3M Privacy Filter, you’ll have true 180 degree protection from unwanted intrusions in your private life.

It’s PC only at the moment, and there are some system requirements as well as the need for a webcam.  You can Learn more about 3M™ ePrivacy Filter Software, as well as try it out for free: Download a 30-day free trial of 3M™ ePrivacy Filter Software.
