Wearable air purifier lets you enjoy life without worrying about airborne allergens

Although many people have only recently become more aware of the quality of the air they breathe, there are plenty more that have constantly been living with worry because of the potential threats hanging in the air. Different people have different types of allergies, but one of the most common can be triggered by invisible particles that enter our noses and lungs. And while it’s relatively easier to control the environment at home with air purifiers, although it isn’t completely foolproof, stepping into public spaces is pretty much a leap of faith for someone with allergies. Now you no longer have to give up the fun things in life with this innovative air purifier that discreetly hangs around your neck, letting you enjoy fresh and clean air wherever you are, whatever you’re doing.

Respiray Wear A+ – Effectively reduces airborne allergen particles by 99.9% thanks to its user-replaceable HEPA filters.

There are many ways to fight off airborne allergies these days. Some take medication either before or after exposure, but that is never a feasible or healthy long-term solution. Indoor air purifiers do work, but you need to be close to the machine for it to be really effective. Inside public spaces like cafes or stores, the options are even more limited, and while certain masks do work, they also limit your ability to drink, eat, and breathe freely. Respiray Wear A+ combines the best of both worlds, bringing the effectiveness of an indoor air purifier that still lets your smile shine.

The way it works is so simple you’d be left wondering why no one has capitalized on it before. The curved device hangs a bit below the front of your neck, where it gets out of the way of your face and looks nothing more than a fashionable neckband. Inside, however, the device draws in air, pushes it through a HEPA filter to remove harmful airborne allergens, and then releases the filtered air upward toward your mouth and nose. This, in effect, creates a “safe zone” around your face, leaving you free to breathe clean air without worrying about allergies. The device has been clinically tested and lab-verified to be effective in filtering out 99.9% of these allergens, promising a worry-free breath every time.

There are a small number of wearable air purifiers that make almost the same promises, but the Respiray Wear A+ outshines all of them with its convenience and style. You won’t look ridiculous with parts of your face or head always covered, and it doesn’t get in the way of actions such as talking, drinking, or even eating. Wear A+ leaves you free to enjoy life and smile and let others witness that happiness painted on your face.

Wear A+ also eases your worries about its longevity and usability. A built-in rechargeable battery means you can confidently use it anywhere, and replaceable HEPA filters that last for 3 months mean you can get as much use out of it for years. For only $74, you get the Respiray Wear A+, two HEPA filters, and a washable air filter, freeing you from the fears and anxieties of airborne allergens, leaving you free to enjoy with a bright smile that everyone can see.

Turntable and air purifier merge in one appliance to create a clean ambiance in your home

Imagine, after a long day, you walk into your home and pleasing music (you had preset) begins to play. The air purifier kicks in simultaneously to ensure, no matter how much pollution you have inhaled outside, the air at home is clean, fresh, and welcoming. Designed in form of a turntable, AETHER is a concept that makes this possible.

Clean air is important for lungs and blood circulation. In fact, it is important for our well-being. And since the pandemic has pushed us all into the confines of our homes, we are spending approximately 90 percent of our time indoors. Researches prove that the concentration of certain pollutants is often up to five times more than the typical outdoor air. This means the air we breathe at home, in spite of believing it is the freshest, is not clean.

Designer: Hyunbin Yang

A nice air purifier can help improve the air quality indoors, helping you reduce allergens and other pollutants. But a good air purifier needs to be really powerful to do so and pleasing enough to be placed in any room of the house. Combining the goodness of air purification and music with an aesthetically pleasing form factor, designer Hyunbin Yang has conceived the AETHER. This Bluetooth speaker and air purifier in the shape of a modern turntable can be a centerpiece of disguise no matter where you choose to place it at home.

The speaker is controlled remotely by a smartphone or smart device to play any music you like, well before you set foot into the house. So, the time you have can be spent on other tasks, while the mood of the house is already set. The biggest advantage that the AETHER has over the other air purifiers we have seen in our time is the convenience with which the air filters can be swapped. Here changing the filter is as easy as replacing a vinyl on the turntable.

AETHER, like most gadgets these days, features a USB Type-C port for charging and has two speakers one on either side to deliver handsome audio, you’d want to appreciate. In the middle of this turntable is the air purifier display while a push bar on the frame allows you to toggle the air purification strength. Alongside the volume knob, you have a button to turn off the speaker, when you want to. Though there is a lot of work that needs to be done to make it a valuable air purification device we’d want to vouch for, for now, we are simply floored by the portable design, color combination and of course the idea of combining the two things we need to make the home environment cleaner and lighter.

Elpo is a biofilter that doubles as an indoor garden with integrated smart technology that improves indoor air quality and ensures healthy moisture levels.

Following the stay-at-home orders brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, new habits are hard to hit. Since then, we’ve been spending a lot of time indoors, renovating home offices, and bringing the gym to the family room. Getting back into the office, we’re all hyper-aware of the air we breathe and inevitably share with one another.

Inspired to provide an air filter for collaborative spaces, designers Kārlis Vītols, Lolita Epnere, Buka Bērziņa ushered Elpo into the office, a smart biofilter that doubles as a teeming, indoor garden.

Recognized by the European Product Design Awards, Elpo was a Top Design Winner in Flora and Fauna/Hydroponic Devices, nodding to its aesthetic and innovative design. Elpo aims to improve indoor air quality by combining technology and the power of nature.

By absorbing airborne toxins and gases into their leaves and sending them down to their roots, some plants are able to help purify the air we breathe. Equipped with a smart biofilter, it’s not only the plants that Elpo uses to improve indoor air quality.

Like many modern indoor gardens, Elpo comes stocked with automated, smart technology that lights, fans, and irrigates the potted greenery. In creating a smart biofilter that doubles as an indoor garden, Elpo improves indoor air quality while also functioning as a room divider in office settings.

The biofilter ensures healthy moisture levels, while the indoor garden boasts a stylish interior design element that opens up any room. Modular by design, buyers can even create a smart biofilter system that spans the entire width of any given room.

This biophilic air purifier uses 100% fully biodegradable filters to combat landfill waste!

Olus is a compact, biophilic air purifier designed for those living in small city spaces and is stocked with 100% fully biodegradable filters to combat landfill waste.

In major cities, dealing with air pollution is a given. We check the AQI just like we check the weather. As soon as the AQI slips into the yellow and worse yet, red territories, that’s when our air purifiers start whirring. However, living in small city spaces makes dragging bulky air purifiers from the closet feel like a chore and when everyone’s using one, the waste produced from discarding used air filters becomes another problem. That’s why Louie Duncan created Olus, a compact, biophilic air purifier designed with 100% fully biodegradable air filters.

Breathing in polluted air is physically unhealthy and the mental strain that comes from dealing with its effects only amplifies the stress. Then, the waste produced as a result makes poor air quality that much more difficult to combat, garnering 6,000 tonnes of air filter waste every year, all of which ends up in landfills. Most air purifiers taking on a bulky build with a clinical aesthetic, so Duncan aimed to give Olus an inviting look with biophilic accents that warm up its personality to enhance the product-user relationship. A digital display panel also reveals the room’s AQI, temperature, and other data.

Taking to nature for inspiration, Olus features organic forms, patterns, and textures like a moss-covered exterior and abstract trims that resemble flower petals. The filter, fan, and motor encased inside Olus’s body operate the product’s purification method in a similar fashion to most air purifiers, except Olus only works with 100% fully biodegradable filters.

The two-stage air filtration process purifies the air in any room, with the interior fan drawing in air to push through a layer of dried moss that removes large pollutants before passing through a high-efficiency particulate air filter that removes 90% of fine particulate matter. The plant-based biodegradable air filters are made from polylactic acid, a derivative of corn plants, and can be sent to Olus following use where they’ll be composted.

The fan, filtration system, and motor are stacked inside of Olus.

Dried moss coats the exterior of Olus with a preliminary filtration system.

Users can easily replace the air filters by dissembling Olus into three parts.

Duncan created Olus to have an air purifier on the market that produces zero waste while cleaning the air we breathe.

This sleeping pod features a smart mattress + a full entertainment system to revolutionize your airport experience!

We’ve all either missed a connecting flight or even our first one and have had to find that somewhat (hardly at all) comfortable spot in the airport where we could kill a few hours before our rescheduled flight. If you haven’t been there–consider this a cautionary tale. While being stuck in an airport is never comfortable, designer KAI XIA developed a Sleep Experience Center, a snoozy oasis where users can kill those hours, otherwise spent sleeping upright in a worn-down, leather waiting chair, in blissful comfort.

Sleep Experience Center is essentially a sleeping and living pod that can be stationed in any setting from an airport to a remote science research center. The pod offers a soundproof place of respite stocked with everything from a full entertainment system to a smart mattress that adjusts to your preferred sleeping conditions. Designed for Keeson Group, Sleep Experience Center took to spaceships and luxury automobiles for inspiration, fusing advanced technology with a contemporary, sleek interior to deliver optimal resting conditions.

The showstopper of the pod is definitely the mattress, boasting integrated smart technology that uses software algorithms and hardware sensors to automatically adapt to each user’s body and ideal sleep settings. The freestanding pod is defined by four separate zones: a sleeping area, entertainment center, storage zone, and control module. If users hope to catch some Z’s or play their favorite video game while waiting for their flight, an automated service offered through WeChat grants them access to the pod. Inside, an operation panel allows users to choose their own (restful) adventure.

Everything from aromatherapeutic lamps to a built-in air filtration system fills out the interior of KAI XIA’s Sleep Experience Center. Atmospheric lighting can be manually adjusted, while the air filtration system runs out of sight underneath the pod’s bed. Inside, users can top off their smartphones with some battery juice and enjoy a quick bite to eat before takeoff.

Designer: KAI XIA

Taking inspiration from spaceships and luxury automobiles, Sleep Experience Center looks sleek and packs a lot of punch.

The Sleeping pod looks right at home in contemporary airports, its optic-white finish blends in with any design.

Here, Sleep Experience Center is positioned in either a mall or airport shopping center.

Inside, Sleep Experience Center would feature everything from a smart mattress, to a full entertainment system.

By signing up through WeChat, users are granted access to the snoozy oasis.

Charging ports and storage areas fill out the inside of Sleep Experience Center.

Designed for any setting, Sleep Experience Center can even be stationed at remote science research centers.

Mood lighting enhances sleeping conditions to ensure a restful getaway.

It’s not enough that your home’s AC should keep you comfy! It should also keep you healthy. The Hybrid Air conditioner aims to do just this by supporting the room climate but also the air quality.

In order to keep room quality constant at all times, an integrated filter cleans both the internal room air and inflowing outside air. Furthermore, this air conditioner features an innovative self-cleaning function. Thanks to UV light and integrated brushes, the filters get cleaned and disinfected regularly. (Because, let’s face it… we’re going to forget to do it!)

Subtle and compact, it’s also designed to integrate seamlessly into your interior style!

The Air Necessities

freka_mask_1

Masks, as an item of clothing, haven’t received due attention from the fashion world. I suspect this is a conspiracy on behalf of the cosmetics industry. They don’t want you covering your face with something too stylish, lest you stop buying that fancy lip balm/voluminizer/chapstick thingy you saw Kylie Jenner using. Sadly, make-up never really saved anyone’s lungs from dust and smoke pollution. Masks, on the other hand, can keep lung ailments at bay. Freka, aims at making you understand how important that is with the added bonus of being a hard-core style statement.

The Freka mask’s construction is unique, keeping ergonomics in check. The Core, an inner skeleton allows the mask to rest comfortably on your face, following your facial profile. It also allows you to move your facial muscles freely while securing the mask in a way that prevents contaminated air from seeping in from the sides. The Wing, a fabric sleeve rests atop the core, forming the rest of the mask. Freka also boasts of an Internal ventilation system that makes sure there’s always fresh air for you to breathe. The Air Revitalization filter also uses fragrant Japanese Cypress to gently purify the air while also refreshing you with its soft aroma. To top it all off, its minimalist aesthetic is sure to get you to reach for your wallets!

Indoor Air Purifiers are Good for Heart Patients

According to Chinese researchers, those facing cardiac problems may benefit from air cleaners that are placed within their home environments. And although it has not been conclusively proved that air...

Significantly Fresher Air

The Aeroball is a great way to filter air and get rid of odors. Tiny bubble-like balls hover and float in the air, cleansing it of impurities and offensive smells. The scented varieties dispense fragrance and enhance the mood. Inspired by fireflies and nature, the balls absorb light during the day and radiate it at night. Very akin to glowlights!

Aeroball is a 2012 Electrolux Design Lab Top Ten shortlisted finalist entry.
