PS5 gets an all-black redesign that pays homage to the original PlayStation aesthetics

The world is STILL debating on the latest PS5 so designer Alexandre Touguet took ‘control’ and redesigned it so Sony didn’t have to!

Not convinced by the design of the new PS5 like many out there, Alexandre Touguet took it upon himself to take one for the team and do the gamers a quick favor by redesigning the console. “I wanted to bring an organic touch by following the artistic direction initiated by the controller revealed a few months earlier but I wanted to keep the DNA of PlayStation with a much more rational overall shape and directed towards its function,” says Touget.

Player 1 has entered the arena, anyone else ready to play the redesign match? We nominate Sony for Player 2. Let the games begin.

The Honeycomb Calculator buzzes with inspiration

On one hand of the spectrum, you have designs like the new Apple Mac Pro that sparked the debate of triggering trypophobia and on the other hand you have designs like the Honeycomb Calculator, that looks uber chic and elegant, and trigger nothing but the clever utilization of biomimicry. Paris based designer Alexandre Touguet crafted the Honeycomb Calculator as a desktop instrument that was easy to use and tie in the intelligence of bees.

Think about it, you would need a calculator to do the math, if you had to construct a honeycomb, but the intelligent bee inherently knows how to do it! Alexandre also hopes to drive in the point that bees are the pillar of our ecosystem and need to be preserved.

I like the way Alexandre has utilized the face of the calculator to showcase honeycomb keys design. They fit perfectly into place and while the numerals are designed as flat keys, the rest of the keys are with an indent, so that you can know the difference intuitively. The display light is strong enough for you to see, even if you are working with it in low-light.

This sustainable toothbrush comes with replaceable miniature bristle-heads

The sustainable toothbrush started off as a rendering exercise, and turned into a pretty remarkable product. Designed by Paris-based Alexandre Touguet, the toothbrush features a three part system that drastically reduces the amount of waste generated by disposing toothbrushes. While the idea of having a toothbrush with a removable head isn’t new, Touguet’s design pushes it to its absolute limit, with the disposable part being a small, capsule-shaped unit that just holds the bristles. With a relatively uncomplicated assembly that allows you to screw and unscrew the handle to pull the toothbrush apart, Touguet’s designed a system that allows you to retain and reuse a majority of the brush, only disposing of the bristles every few months, and helping drastically cut down on plastic waste.
