Thirst Quenching Sculptures

fontanus_01

Nothing will kill the natural vibe of an outdoor park space quite like an eyesore of drinking fountain. Fontanus is a sculptural solution that won’t, if you even notice it! Almost unrecognizable as a fountain at all, this discrete design is comprised of two pillars that elegantly and playfully interact with water between them.

The fountain’s two drinking sources are located at different heights, making it convenient for both adults and children. The fountain is also equipped with a bottle filling nozzle that can be used as a fountain for pets. Water can be turned on by pushing the big button and is shut off as soon as the button is released, preventing unnecessary waste.

Make a Money Masterpiece

numizmatus_01

From coin collectors to travelers, anyone looking to display their rare or commemorative coins or even just random change from different countries should look no further! Numizmatus replaces dusty stockbooks and helps proudly display coin collections.

The minimal frame beautifully presents coins between two glass panes. It’s easy to create a pattern by throwing in coins in a specific way. Numizmatus can supplement pictures and postcards from faraway countries. Want to mix it up?! Coins can be easily taken out without breaking the glass.

Weigh in on this.

pektus_scale_1

Obesity is now a common problem. Even in countries like USA, 1 out of 3 people are considered obese. It’s time design started focusing on this increasing demographic. The Pektus is a weighing scale designed keeping the morbidly obese in focus. It features an elongated bar that stretches out of the weighing area. This allows obese people to comfortably see their weight. The scale can also be used by pregnant women.

The concept of a weighing machine designed specifically for the obese does warrant for discussion. While it definitely makes life easier for people afflicted by obesity, it also speaks of a future where obesity and its accompanying hazards become commonplace; and that’s something that’s definitely concerning. This design is ingenious in more ways than one. Functionality aside, it also opens up a dialogue regarding the rate at which obesity is increasing among today’s population.

Retro Brick Phone

If we imagine a world without Smartphones, then it’s easy to picture this Just 5 Brick Phone by Art Lebedev Studio as a must-have. However, we do live in the world of Technicolor so a large-key, monochromatic graphics-display phone sounds a bit off. Or does it? Specs like retractable antenna, radio, alarm clock, flashlight, calculator, calendar, handheld meter, only one game – “Race” and mapping are nostalgic. The winner of course is the one-week battery power. Will you trade this for your iPhone or Samsung Galaxy?

Streamlining The Traffic Signal

Kayseri is a culturally rich city, located in the heart of Turkey. Commissioned by the municipality, Art Lebedev Studio has developed this modular traffic light design for them. As a scaled down version, this compact light fits perfectly in a progressive atmosphere. As a key innovative feature, the bottom display features text backing up the main color signals.

The signal panels and displays are made of LED clusters and the back of the traffic light features an extra display. The body is one solid cast piece and this makes it cost effective and easy to maintain.

Don’t Mess With the Zaryadkus

You can expect nothing but the best functional design solutions from the house of Art Lebedev Studio. The Zaryadkus is a fine example of how trendy USB sockets should be. A hinged plate allows you to place the iPhone (or any other USB enabled device) for charging in close proximity to the socket. Crafted from white plastic, but with options to customize it according to your room color scheme, the Zaryadku is the way USB sockets are meant to be!

Beautifying The Trash Can

I love the clever and simplistic way the Florus functions. It hides unsightly trashcans and at the same time provides a bed for pretty flowers to thrive and bloom. What is even cooler is the fact that it keeps the trash covered behind a metal door, thus flies and roaches can stay away. Crafted from stainless steel, powder coated and painted, you can keep the trash door locked too!
