Bang & Olufsen made a TV with dancing speakers because why not…

Bang & Olufsen’s design team sure knows how to defy all odds. This is the Beovision Harmony… a TV that “folds away to reduce its visual presence”. Yes, the TV literally shyly covers its face with its hands. With a display and two rotating speaker units, the Beovision Harmony, when closed, hides the switched-off display behind its speakers. Switch the TV on and the speakers fold outwards and downwards as the display emerges from its cocoon of sorts.

Displayed at the Milan Design Week, the Beovision Harmony comprises a pretty impressive 77-inch OLED display from LG, with Bang & Olufsen’s signature audio touch added to the mix. Crafted from oak and aluminum, the speaker unit has three-channel audio, 7.1 surround-sound compatibility, and the ability to work with up to 8 more speakers to give you a cinematic experience when you want it, and a shy, introverted, hiding television when you’re done.

Bang & Olufsen’s BeoVision 12-65 New Generation TV includes its own 7.1-channel sound module

Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 1265 New Generation includes its own 71channel sound module

Bang & Olufsen is all about elegant design, and it's not about to let a home theater receiver spoil those clean looks -- see its newly unveiled BeoVision 12-65 New Generation TV as an example. This refresh of last year's BeoVision 12-65 includes its own 7.1-channel audio module, letting viewers plug surround speakers into the 65-inch plasma without a go-between box. The upgrade also brings TrueImage, which mixes the sound to fit all available speakers, and lets owners customize audio presets. Bang & Olufsen hasn't disclosed pricing for the New Generation, but the set should reach company stores in early September.

There's a new Bang & Olufsen set in town. The BeoVision 11 Smart TV gives viewers access to the Web courtesy of a browser that can be navigated via remote, iPad or Android tablet. You can also check out apps like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube on the set. There's DLNA enabled for media streaming, two USB ports, Ethernet, six HDMI sockets, six speakers and a cabinet in the back for storing your Apple TV. Aesthetically, the TV doesn't look all too different from the BeoVision 10, though the company is calling this its "most ambitious television to date." The 11 comes in 40-, 46- and 55-inch varieties and a slew of color options. You can pick one up (use your back) at B&O stores beginning today, priced at £4,995 (around $8,000). Stay tuned after the break for a press release and a video in which B&O's CEO humbly calls it the best TV his company has ever made.
