AR glasses will quench your ride-stat thirst

The bike I was riding to test a new set of AR glasses was probably a bit too small for me. Also, it was a typical San Francisco summer day, so it was cold and windy, and, like an idiot, I left my jacket upstairs. But none of that mattered, because I...

Nexo Ever Airless Bike Tires Will Never Go Flat

The problem with tires is of course, that they will go flat – especially those high pressure ones on bicycles. The best way to make sure your tires never deflate is to never inflate them in the first place. It’s the only way that a tire really can work better. Well, Nexo Ever Tires feature an airless, puncture-proof design and promise to deliver on that.

They use a unique polymer blend and the design features holes to provide a comfortable ride. Apparently they are as smooth as air-filled tires, but much more durable. The material they’re made of is said to be just as light, if not lighter than traditional tubes, and a patented technology holds them firmly into your rims. Their maker estimates they should last about 5,000 miles, so you won’t have to change them any time soon if you’re a casual biker.

If you’re wondering how they install on your rims, you can check out the video below. It looks just a little more complex than a regular tire, but you won’t be doing it with any regularity:

You can get in on the action for a $75(USD) pledge on Kickstarter, with the first tires shipping as soon as January 2017. Cyclists are going to love these tires.

You’ll Never Get A Flat On Your Bicycle With The Nexo Ever Tires

The best way to make sure your tires never deflate is simply to never inflate them in the first place. The Nexo Ever Tires feature a puncture-proof design using a unique polymer blend as well as a bunch of holes to promote a more comfortable ride. They are said to be as smooth as air-filled tires, and much more durable; a set will last about 5,000 miles, which let’s be honest, might actually outlast your actual bike. The design also makes for a lightweight tire that’s at least as light, if not lighter than traditional tubes. A $75 pledge will get you in on the action, with delivery slated for December of 2016.

The Tannus Solid Tires Never Go Flat

tannus_solid_bicycle_tires_1

Getting a flat tire while riding your bike is a massive pain in the ass. But if you outfit them with a set of Tannus tires, this concern may become a thing of the past. These tires require no inflation since they’re a solid block made of a special foamy resin called “Aither”.

Made from a very special Micro Closed Cell Polymer Resin “Aither”, Tannus tire uses a foaming technology. And, it may look similar to that used in many lightweight sports shoes, but it is totally different from any other foaming technology both in terms of its process or the condition. It is made from the one-and-only material “Aithercompound” with a very unique foaming process.

They’ll allegedly withstand puncture, and never go flat, while suffering from very little rolling resistance. The tires come in 12 different colors, and 3 different hardness types (soft, regular, and hard). They’ll set you back between $50 and $70, and there are different types and sizes to accommodate bikes of all sorts.

Flailing Your Arms Around On A Bike Isn’t The Most Efficient Way To Signal, The Lumos Helmet Is

lumos-9

Bicycle riders are extremely vulnerable on the road, and despite many using their hands to signal their intention to turn, two cyclists a day lost their lives in 2013 in the USA. Especially in the dark, hand signals are hard to see, but the bright LEDs on the Lumos helmet? These are unmistakable. Directly integrated into the helmet, the LEDs allow you to signal with the flick of a wireless remote mounted on the handlebar. Additionally, a red triangle remains lit on the back, encouraging motorists to proceed with caution. On the front are white LEDs which also remain lit all the time, making you more visible from the front. And finally, an integrated accelerometer activates as a brake light! The helmet is waterproof, meets many safety certifications, and the batteries are easily rechargeable through USB. If you want your own, you’ll have to pledge $99 on their fully-funded Kickstarter.
