The most minimal iPhone 12 case also gives it the most amount of character

Think of the Arc Pulse as a helmet and elbow + shin guards for your phone. Nobody wears a suit of armor as they’re skateboarding. Instead, they wear gear to protect just vulnerable, high-impact areas like the joints and the head, right? Well, the Arc Pulse applies that logic to the smartphone by targetting and shielding just the areas that are more likely to experience damage… the corners, and the camera bump.

Isn’t it funny that we buy a phone partially based on its aesthetics, meticulously choose a color that appeals to us, and then cover everything up with a boring looking case? The Arc Pulse makes the argument that protecting a smartphone shouldn’t mean shrouding its very character. The Arc Pulse’s bumper-inspired design sits on just the top and bottom, with its minimalist two-part case covering the phone from all angles. The bumpers come with a lip that extends on the front, protecting the screen, while its inherent design guards the corners, sides, and even the back. Available in titanium and aluminum variants, the Arc Pulse gives the iPhone a unique character with the way it sits on the top and bottom. This minimalist, almost ornamental aesthetic not only helps show off your smartphone, but it also exposes the phone’s antenna bands, ensuring perfect 5G coverage, and even allows you to use the wireless charger unencumbered. The Arc Pulse, which is available for all iPhone 12 models, comes with a unique and proprietary slide-on fit™ system that bonds the case to the phone in a way that gives you both impact resistance as well as shock-absorption… all while showing off your smartphone’s design the way it was intended to be seen!

Apple once envisioned retractable bumpers for its self-driving cars

Apple once dreamed of self-driving cars with retractable bumpers. In 2015, the company filed a patent for "extendable bumpers" with the US Patent and Trademark Office. The patent was published this morning, but even if Apple were once serious about a...

i(Phone) is for indestructible

Combine Evolutive Labs’ incredible RhinoShield Screen Protector with their latest product, the RhinoShield Crash Guard and your precious iPhone 5/6/6+ will be battle-ready! Exceeding military standard impact protection and absorption, the ultra-slim bumper can withstand the most damage a user could possibly do while simultaneously reflecting the original sleek design of the iPhone… in other words, no bulk! Watch the cringe-worthy tests for both and you’ll be sold!

The key to the bumpers strength is in the “honeycomb” pattern that lines the inside lining of the case. When combined with the new polymer blend, this feature adds another 10-15% to the material’s impact absorption effectiveness.

New iPhones means new accessories: see the options right here

New iPhone means new accessories see the options right here

Welcome to the drama, the dilemmas, the sheer disbelief involved in picking accessories to go with your new iPhone. (Yes, an official 30-pin to Lightning adapter really costs that much). We can't promise to make the choices easy, but we can at least give you a glimpse of some of the bumpers and functional extras that Apple has revealed today, and link you up to the relevant pages on Apple's store (see the Source links below).

Starting with the iPhone 5c, it's "unapologetically" plastic to start with, of course, but you can give it extra protection with an additional, colorful mesh-style plastic case. This costs $29 and comes in the same five colors as the phone itself, so you can either match the phone or mix it up with a secondary color. There's also a black option if you want to tone things down a bit. One more thing: the iPhone 5c gets it's own Lightning dock, which comes in plain white and costs $29.

Next up: the iPhone 5s, which comes in very different color options -- silver, grey or gold -- and therefore gets a different set of bumper colors. These cost $49 $39 (correction: $49 is solely for the special (RED) charity case, regular cases are $39), they're made of leather on the outside and protective microfiber on the inside, and come in softer colors that are a bit tricky to describe (not least because this writer is red-green color blind): some kinda yellow, some kinda peach, some kinda... or just look at the image after the break. Lastly, Apple's website lists a $29 iPhone 5s dock too, which is cross-compatible with the regular iPhone 5.%Gallery-slideshow83651% %Gallery-slideshow83650%

Audi Intelligent OLED Lighting Display: Just Imagine the Repair Costs

Audi makes some pretty sleek cars, and their designs are often cutting edge, especially when you check out their new ideas about lighting technology. I’ll admit that most cars that I’ve had needed better lighting, especially when you’re driving along dark country roads, far away from the freeway.

Audi is thinking about doing away with traditional taillights and replacing them with form-fitting OLED lights instead.

These cool looking organic lights would cover the entire width of the trunk, and potentially cover the entire body of the vehicle. The lights will swarm as the car accelerates, and the red lights will flow towards the direction in which the car is turning. Using the brake causes the lights to gather in pools.

This seems like a smart idea, but I can already imagine the costs of replacing the lights if someone rear-ends you. Also, I think it will take some time before this kind of display becomes legal. It could definitely be seen as a distraction to other drivers if not executed properly.

iPhone Metal Advantage

As Andrea explains it, the Ag++ Metal Bumper for the iPhone 5 is an aluminium case shaped from a solid aerospace aluminum block by state-of-the-art CNC machinery. Needless to say the case is ultra-shock absorbing and ultra-bend and twist resistant. One of the main complaints I have heard from iPhone 5 (Black Version Only), users is the way the back case’s color scratches off. Either they have used it rough, which I doubt, or it’s an Apple thing. In any case, superior protecting using gears like the Ag++ Metal Bumper is wise.

Cooler Master iPhone 5 Bumpers Wrap Your Phone in Extra Aluminum

Unlike some of you out there, I prefer to keep my iPhone nicely wrapped up in a case. Since I know that phones can be easily dropped, and that I want to ensure that I will get maximum value when I upgrade to another phone, it makes sense to use a case. I’ve never particularly liked bumpers, since they are so thin, but check out this one from Cooler Master.

Cooler Master’s Aluminum Bumper is slightly different from others that I’ve seen since it’s almost a complete case. It covers not only the edges, but parts of the back of your iPhone, while still leaving much of Apple’s industrial design visible. This makes it an interesting option in my opinion. The case is made from aircraft-grade aluminum, polished to give a near mirror finish on the edges, and brushed on the back. There’s a thin layer of EVA foam on the inside to keep your phone from getting scratched as well. It’s also not supposed to hamper the antenna in any way, which is always good.

There’s a seamless slide-n-lock design that allows you to take the bumper off easily, which is a must since I change/rotate cases every couple of weeks or so. CoolerMaster hasn’t announced pricing yet, but it will be launched soon.
