‘Tis the season for camping. The frost is gradually melting and the sun is coming out, it’s about time we pitch our tents and load up on some propane. Different destinations call for different camping equipment. While a trip to Olympic National Park will require, heavy-duty, waterproof shelter, you won’t have to worry about the rain on a trip to Joshua Tree in southern California.

SylvanSport, a USA-based, outdoor adventure goods company, developed their GO Camper to brace all elements while also providing an accessible and versatile living space while getting off the grid for a bit. Described by National Geographic Adventure as the “Coolest. Camper. Ever,” the GO Camper is a super lightweight, towable pop-up tent camper that can accommodate up to four people.

The creatives at SylvanSport care about providing accessible outdoor equipment first and foremost, so the GO Camper has some pretty handy perks. Towable by design, the GO Camper can be attached to vehicles of all sizes, even the tiny Mini Cooper. When campers are ready to set up camp, the GO Camper also comes with all the accessories needed for seamless assembly.

When attached to your car, the camper trailer can also hold an ATV or bikes inside the multi-height trailer bed. Kayaks and additional bikes can also be fastened to the roof rack for extra storage. When campers are ready to deploy the tent, the GO Camper folds out to provide two beds, two benches, and a table within an interior space that comes with 6 feet and 6 inches of headroom.

Included with the GO Camper, an equipment rack provides extra space to keep all the accessory equipment that will make maximize any camping trip adventure. Since the tent is waterproof and spacious, it’s the ideal place to konk out after a long day of river rafting or kayaking. Internal airflow keeps campers cool and prevents the muggy feel that comes with other tents on the market.

Each GO Camper comes included with one equipment rack, one crank handle, eight frame pins, one tent pod, three tent poles, two panels for sleeping, four sleeping pads, four support poles for the bed, two table panels, one gear deck, one tailgate step, one tailgate bungee, one storage box, two storage box keys, one stabilizer jack rod, and four ratchet straps.

When unloaded, the camper weighs 840 lbs.

After a tiring week at work, with the weekend joyfully looming ahead of me, I often find myself fantasizing about a short sweet getaway! Just a few days away from my hectic life, and this hectic world, in a bubble of my own, where all my worries are nowhere to be seen. The pandemic may restrict my actual traveling plans, but it definitely cannot restrict my daydreams about vacations! Jetsetting on a flight may not be a practical option right now, but I do think Camping is a plausible plan. There’s nothing more comforting or exciting than lounging about in a cozy camper while you explore the countryside. You never feel out of place, because these little trailers manage to feel like a home on wheels! Fill it up with your dear belongings, and it’s your home away from home. Not to mention the trailer designs today are super innovative and inventive! These resourceful campers manage to cater to almost all of our needs, solving various problems, and turning our camping experience into a fulfilling and comfortable one.

The “NoMad” – a light and resistant vehicle that is presented as a fusion between a traditional tent and a futuristic-looking van designed by the ABIBOO Studio. Each NoMad creates this balance by designing 3 unique compartments – a wet area that holds the kitchen and bathroom, a living room/guest room/workroom, and thirdly a master bedroom that separates from to living room to help you disconnect at the end of the day. The layout of the trailer holds the wet area at the center of the design, automatically creating a barrier/ separation between the living room and the bedroom. Given the space constraints, every bit in the vehicle design holds storage space and hidden seating space. Smart use of terraces means we can leverage the outside space once the trailer is settled in. Overall the design balances four aspects – lightness (hence saving fuel), creating resistance to avoid collisions or overturning of the vehicle, a minimum thickness that provides the best insulation, and finally, an aesthetically packaged home interior and exterior.

This design is a concept prototype stage –developed by Kip in close quarters with the designer Karel Bodegom, the Netherlands Bureau for Tourism and Conventions (NBTC), and a number of Dutch suppliers. The large windows of Panorama Shelter blur the divide between the cozy inside and the tranquil outside. Windows make up the chunk of the sidewalls, a skylight brings in ample sunlight during the noon, the big front door is majorly glass, and the side facing the vehicle too has a huge panoramic window. For times when you need total privacy, there are integrated blackout and roller screens. The pop-up roof can be pushed up a little to let in ambient sounds. The teardrop comes with a flexible kitchen for indoor and outdoor cooking and a sink faucet that also functions as an outdoor shower. An induction cooktop too draws power from an onboard 240-V power outlet and a mini-fridge to store all the eatables. The stow-away portable toilet suffices the daily needs for an extended trip.

The Bailey Discovery D4-2 Camper Trailer is one such creation, tailored for adventure enthusiasts who can’t help but satiate their wanderlust – exploring the untrodden trails. The USP of this camper trailer is its inflatable awning which creates almost double the private space you need for your escapades under the star-studded nights. On the inside, D4-2 is equipped with all the amenities and a fully furnished interior. Enough to suffice the needs of a couple on their long road trip – with the odd guest coming along the way for a couple of days. The big windows on all sides and the skylight fills the interiors with enough sunlight for a calming feel. The lounge area includes two couches and a fold-down table. In the kitchen, you’ll get an oven/grill combo appliance, a drop-down worktop extension, and a sink. On the opposite side, there is a mini-fridge with space underneath to store food and beverages. You also get the convenience of a shoes and clothes closet along with a separate area for cabinet storage. Of course, there is a good-sized bathroom too!

Designed by the visionary Solar Team from TU Eindhoven, the solar-powered camper is all ready to embark on an adventurous 3,000 km trip through the European landscape later this month. Christened the Stella Vita, the curvacious camper is the work of 22 student teams at the prestigious university in the Netherlands. Unlike other solar-powered houses on wheels, which rely for the most part on external electric power, this one is purely powered by the sun’s energy without any external assistance. It’s made possible with the 8.8-meter square solar array on top of the roof – capable of generating power for the 60-kWh battery. In the parked mode the slide-out panels span out for an impressive canopy area of 17.5 meters square. To add to the goodness, the pop-up roof expands the vertical area for two people to move around comfortably. They can cook comfortably in the kitchen or take a shower too with this feature.

Touted to be “approximately 50-percent lighter, much stronger, and smarter” compared to present-day campers, the 17-ft RV travel trailer is a true four-season trailer capable of handling everything your throw at it. Streamlined for weekend getaways and long vacations alike, the Cortes Campers trailer is immune to rust and corrosion and is immensely convenient to drive on the road in comparison to traditional campers. Cortes Campers manufactures retro-styled trailers using patent-pending biaxial aluminized fiberglass, carbon fiber and finishes them with marine-grade Gelcoat. In addition to their feathery weight, these travel trailers are extremely durable, robust, well-insulated, and long-lasting.

This teardrop trailer is a limited edition design by a USA-based company and they have upgraded the traditional trailers for a comfortable off-road adventure. Based on what the previous users said, the team added more upgrades and functionality including higher ground clearance, galley accessibility, more electrical power, and plenty of storage to the trailer…or how I like to call it – the portable cabin! Black Bean is built for all-terrain adventures and comes in several colors unlike what the name suggests. This new model features a bigger sliding stove, a larger fridge with an ice-maker function, increased countertop space, and a deeper sink with a set-in cutting board to keep the counters clean. My favorite detail is how the stove can be rotated which makes it possible to cook outdoors – camping AND a barbecue!

A study conducted by the RV Industry Association (RVIA) reveals that RV ownership has increased by more than 62 percent in the past two decades. The Pacific Coast Highway inspires this special edition and is based on the Airstream’s 28-foot International model. The trailer is built for couples and solo travelers as it features queen or twin bed sleeping configurations. In addition to that, the airy interior space can accommodate up to 4 guests in the rest of the cabin. The interiors of the travel trailer are draped in Pottery Barn’s matte-black pull-down faucet, a stainless-steel flat apron sink, and solid walnut cutting board sink cover. Pottery Barn influences everywhere, right from the 16-piece Mason Stoneware Dinnerware Set, solid oak dinette table inspired by their Benchwright Dining Collection, to the couch with custom cushions inspired by Pottery Barn’s Big Sur Collection the bedroom’s single queen/two twin beds enveloped in Belgian Flax linens.

Transforming the Mercedes Vito L2H1 into a modern-day minimalist camper meant creating a nomadic living environment for Serge Propose. The French atelier hollowed out the inside of Mercedes Vito L2H1 to outfit it with a sleeping and lounge area, rear kitchen, and plenty of storage space throughout. Constructed from birch plywood, the wooden interior living area is also insulated with hemp wool and projected cork so campers will stay warm during the night and colder months without leaving the van turned on. Stocked with adaptable furnishings and concealed storage compartments, Serge Propose thought of everything when converting the Mercedes Vito L2H1.

Taking the design language of Volkswagen and applying it to his own interpretation of the camper, design studio Ozan Kayicki visualized the Volkswagen Joy Camper. Ozan Kayicki designed the Joy Camper to be the quintessential camping vehicle for all future trips. Rendered in either pine green or multi-patterned collage, Joy Camper is like the cube-shaped cousin to the VW Bus. The camper’s glossy painted exterior opens up to the van’s mostly wooden interior– a nod to the 1960s era of infinite wood panels. Each internal component is lined in wood, except for the driver’s seat, sink, and countertop, offering warmth in compliment to the van’s cool exterior. In addition to the van’s expansive, glazing windows that line the sides of Joy Camper, a pop-top roof raises the van’s headroom and allows additional sunlight to pour in through the roof’s skylights. Then, an additional extension protrudes from one side of the cabin, appearing as washing or changing areas for guests.

Catering to the necessities and casual family pastimes, the tiny home is doused in modular and multifunctional design that’s surrounded by creamy poplar plywood walls and silvery fittings that add a touch of refinement to an otherwise bare interior. Each furniture piece inside Ohariu doubles as storage to maintain an open, clutter-free interior where the tiny home’s family would bond over pastimes like cooking, playing card games, and enjoying the surrounding landscape. Featuring a chef’s kitchen, Ohariu comes with plenty of prep space for cooking and integrates tilt-up tabletops to make even more for when there’s company. Outside, Ohariu is coated in a stealthy ebony corrugate to match its lightweight mobility, supported by aluminum joinery, lights, and utilities that were given the same ebony finish. Ohariu’s roof is asymmetrical with six solar panels lined up on its longer side and a mezzanine bedroom cozying up beneath its sloped short side.

Travel should be to create a list of experiences that helps you grow – and what a better way to do it than take a solo/family trip before the summer runs out! To do just that, we have created a list of trailers that meet your unique needs and help you achieve that life-changing experience you truly want!





The Bailey Discovery D4-2 Camper Trailer is designed for adventurers who love their space. The USP of this camper trailer is its inflatable awning which creates almost double the private space you need for your escapades under the star-studded nights. On the inside, D4-2 is equipped with all the amenities and a fully furnished interior. The best part about that expanded area – the transparent panel that allows plenty of sunshine and light while keeping those pesky mosquitoes away.

Bradbuilds is a Los Angeles-based concept artist who reimagines many automotive designs with a crazy twist. Apart from the BMW M4 camper, his other viral works include a Tesla roadster safari as well. BMW is associated with luxury, not with adventure but this concept really turns the brand image on its head to give us a sporty yet sleek coupe camper. To accommodate the trailer, the designer has taken out the backseat from the car and optimized for time off the grid. The vehicle is a 500 horsepower single-bed camper. The interiors include all elements ideally needed for a road trip – a bed, a pair of solar panels, and a kitchenette. The suspension has been lifted and the tires have been replaced for robust BFGoodrich ones which makes it ready to take the road less traveled.

The unique creation christened Tree Trailer by Henry K. Wein, a design student at the Design Academy Eindhoven, is a house on wheels like none other. The one-man treehouse can be towed behind a bicycle or a motorcycle, and when the time comes to set camp, simply mount it on a solid tree branch with the trunk acting as the other support. When mounted to a tree, it makes me think about the idea of vertical camping – wherein tents are pitched hanging from vertical cliffs! Henry created this amazing DIY camper from repurposed parts – such as the cladding made out of a salvaged house blind. The rest of it is made from wood and a supporting metal beam.

Similar to the Cybertruck, the Cyberlandr does away with external door handles and opens when an authorized person puts the foot on the steps or gains access via the compatible app. On the inside, the minimalistic pop-up camper has a very airy feel to it, thanks to the dual-pane windows with electrochromic dimming when required. It even makes space for a bathroom (with a showerhead and self-cleaning dry flush toilet) and a multi-use living area which can be used as a section for the kitchen, office work, or night sleep. For this, the kitchen utility comes in the form of a counter with a large sink, dual induction burners embedded in the cooktop, and a refrigerator. Once you no longer require meal prepping, the pair of lounge chairs can be used for your work or simply having some rest – it even has two pivoting desks. When the nighttime hits, the chairs unfold meticulously into a sleeping area as they morph into a double bed.

Nissan NV350 Caravan Office Pod Concept is your ticket to freedom when it comes to working productively after witnessing the most mesmerizing sunset from your favorite picturesque location on the outskirts of the city or maybe even on an adventure trip. The mobile office pod housed inside the back of the electric van is something you’ll be so desperate to jump right into. In ways, it can rival the most jaw-dropping work from home setups without a semblance of doubt. The smartphone-controlled office pulls out from the back of the van out in the open and is for sure a dope for people who love working amidst natural settings. When you’ve worked enough for the day or simply want to take a short break between work, just climb on top of the luxurious roof balcony with a rooftop deck for relaxing in style.

The idea of a bike camper is not overly new, there have been some we have come by, but they have either failed to impress with the edgy assembly or their dimensions. The Scout camper presents a very sizable alternative that transforms into a shelter with comfortable sleeping space for a rider. The camper trailer comes in varying sizes, you can pick according to your requirement – but it does require a Tough Trailer, also made by CreaCon, to carry this actual living module around to the campsite. The camper trailer design opens up various possibilities for use. The start being carried behind the bicycle for camping, the trailer can be used for transporting groceries, tools, or whatever else given the user’s needs. The trailer clips to the bike using lockable Weber coupling; it can carry 85 kg of payload standalone, and features hydraulic overrun brakes to negate the weight and thrust added by the load.

As part of their commitment to environmental design, CE-ST, a young design studio, created Time Holiday Mobile Home, an A’Design Award-winning modular mobile home the size of a shipping container that can be transported to any terrain. Whether our sustainability commitment means more camping trips and less flying, or packing up the house into an electric RV camper and living off the grid for a while, people are finding unique ways to travel with respect for the environment. Outfitted with solar panels, naturally ventilated windows, and built with recycled tiles, Time Holiday Mobile Home was designed to leave a reduced ecological footprint when traveling. Without the need for a foundation, Time Holiday can be stationed anywhere across the globe, atop varying terrains and topographies. Time Holiday’s flexibility for traveling allows for multiple pods to be stationed in one location, forming a sort of cluster or system of campers.

The Sealander is a 13-square-foot, 1,100-pound camper trailer combo that doubles up as a boat too, with the ability to travel at a cool 5 miles per hour in regular waters (it clearly isn’t meant for high-tides). With a fiberglass-reinforced plastic body, the Sealander is particularly light and strong, working well both on land as well as water, and the inner space comes with a table and bench that can be tucked away to turn the inner space into a reclining area that takes full advantage of the foldable roof to let you gaze at the sunset, and then the stars thereafter.

Product designer Ozan Kayikci has come up with a mindful design for a camper tent and portable kitchen for the Microlino 2.0, a Swiss-based micro electric car to explore this unattended segment. A small electric car that can take pride in having a respectable camper-like configuration, complete with a small portable kitchen. This gives adventure seekers another option to hit the road in the small car with the assurance of a cozy place to set camp under the stars. The inflatable camper fits inside the front section of the vehicle, and when you need to set camp, it can be done in a jiffy with one end securely attached to the car. The boot section holds the mini kitchen to cook a quick meal under the star-studded sky.

 If you always wanted a camper trailer for your Tesla, specially built for the purpose, your wish is granted! Glendale, California-based Polydrops has been designing trailers for the last four years, and now they’ve come up with a P17A camper that your EV’s going to love. The trailer’s angular design is well-suited for your Tesla Cybertruck, and it is not just about the sharp looks! P17A trailer comes with floor integrated batteries capable of storing 12kWh of electricity when needed. Much attention has been given to the temperature variation inside the cabin to keep energy requirements down to the minimum. That’s achieved with the true foam-core structure providing insulation of 8.7″ EPS – thereby shunning out the need to use a 5000 BTU air conditioner in summers or an electric heater in chilling winter.

Modern lifestyle has created a new genre of digital nomads – people who love the outdoors while balancing their work/ tech life. After all, while we crave a digital detox, we can’t really completely cut off from our smartphones. How can the humble trailer designs be adapted to meet their new-age camping needs while maintaining that sacred indoor-outdoor balance? The answer to that is the “NoMad” – a light and resistant vehicle that is presented as a fusion between a traditional tent and a futuristic-looking van designed by the ABIBOO Studio.

Working from home and telecommuting has showcased the futuristic scenario where commuting is a bare minimum. As journalist Kimberly Mok, author of the book The modern house bus, points out, “The Internet enables a growing number of people to work from home or travel and work full-time, combined with a strong interest in the minimalist lifestyle. It makes us see more people turning their vehicles into homes that they can take wherever they go”. Freedom from location brings to mind new age campsites equipped with great wifi connectivity and other digital requirements – supplemented by bathrooms and a food store, surrounded by a lot of green or endless kilometers on the beach – and meeting likeminded people when they come across your pathway or have a meetup set with your friends. Call me a romantic, but I do think it would make the perfect meet-cute! The future is an evolution of our past when met with today’s challenge to design a future that is uniquely ours, the digital nomads!

W2 Architecture’s revolutionary trailer design, Romotow, the name an amalgamation of ‘room to move’ contains all the usual RV features but with an innovative 90-degree twist. With the press of a simple electric button, it swivels open, rotating at 90 degrees, to reveal an open synthetic teak deck, and 70% more living space. Measuring 30 feet by 8.5 feet and offering 290 square feet of living space (the same as a lot of tiny apartments these days), the caravan comes along with a living area, bedroom, kitchenette, and bathroom, all with stylish fixtures and spacious interiors.

The Z-Triton Electric Houseboat was created as a vehicle that could serve as an alternative to the traditional camper. It is comfortable enough to house two adults for a weekend getaway and the choice of land or water is up to the travelers. The amphibious nature of the modern camper fits into the flexible lifestyle we lead today, especially since air travel is not on the cards anytime soon it is opening up a lot of avenues for local trips in less popular/offbeat locations. The durable houseboat measures 3.6 meters in length, 1.2 meters in width, and 1.55 meters in height.

It is a compact 6 x 6 feet space that includes all necessities that a person needs to turn a house into a home they can comfortably live in. It is the perfect modern home on wheels for the solo adventurer, “This ingenious small space design transforms a customized 3 wheeler into a comfy mobile home/commercial space. We’ve maximized the total area to give you value that isn’t minimalist but fully utilitarian. The concept is the fruit of research into actual needs; we’ve outwitted complex challenges with simple solutions” says Arun while describing his project.

Haaks ‘Opperland’ camper is something I haven’t seen before – an expandable trailer! This cool camper turns into a tiny two-story house! This durable camper is actually a hidden tiny home that brings exceptional comfort and enhanced capabilities while you choose your views. The compact structure is capable of being transported on a flatbed truck so you can bring your home and turn it into a vacation home in any place you like. A flexible lifestyle goes hand in hand with pop-up home designs like the Opperland camper that offers a sleeping loft as well as a lower section open for meal preparation, dining, relaxation, and other activities. A triangular pop-up roof transforms the wood-clad camper into your tiny home with all amenities and appliances.

The LandTraveler Cybertruck doesn’t just look futuristic – it even scores high on the camping trailer aspect. It is well equipped with all the necessities for a night well spent in the outdoors. The camping trailer is made from composite aluminum on the outside and comes complete with a bathroom, a kitchenette, dining cum sleeping area, and lots of skylights to ensure the compact interiors are well lit throughout the day and present a panoramic view by the night. For some off-grid capabilities, the LandTraveler is fitted with roof-top solar panels, a 100-liter water tank, and a heater to keep you warm when away from home. Ideal for a couple, the LandTraveler has a dining table that folds to include the seating and transforms into a double bed.

The camper has an expansive panoramic viewing roof balanced out by the contoured windows on each side for enjoying nature’s grandeur en route to an adventure trip. The Scout camper features lightweight composite sandwich-panel construction and starts with the Compact model, which is the smallest livable module measuring 65cm wide and 1.44m long when folded. The Scout Compact unfolds to 60x190cm giving a rider just enough space to lie down. The Scout Center is slightly larger with a sleeping space of 90x190cm, other dimensions are nearly similar with a width measuring 95cm when folded. The Comfort is the most spacious variant but is planned for launch in the future. The trailer will measure 95cm wide and 1.64m long and should be able to transform into a two-man shelter with a 120x200cm playing field. Interestingly, the campers also offer a small covered tent with standing height. Attached to the main Scout body with a canvas supported by telescoping poles. This area either serves as an entryway awning or transforms into a tent with optional waterproof canvas draped around the sides.
